News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

[Moved from]: When Britain decides it hates Europe.

Imagine if a country like Germany decided it hated most of Europe, can you imagine how the US and Britain would demonize that choice? What if Germany decided it only wanted free trade within its German speaking commonwealth where it is favored while freezing other trading partners out, and yet Britain is headed in that hateful, nationalistic direction while the international community, led by the US, pets and nurses it like it's nothing, ignoring the hateful attacks on the non English living there.

Why isn't the international community alarmed by this major transgressive step backwards as it would if it were Germany behaving like this? Modern Germany should be praised for being the antithesis of fascism while Britain should be condemned for allowing unmitigated hate to fester within its borders.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

Leaving the EU makes it a bit of a rogue nation at the moment. It wants to cause disruption since everyone, including Brits, knows that is exactly what will happen and Britain is letting this occur. It's not in the best interest of anyone. Now they are competing with the EU. It is so complicated and will cause nothing but tension and strife in Europe, which has always been a bit fragile as far as peacekeeping goes. EU was the best thing that ever happened for them. Now they will **** that all away for nothing. What good will come out of Britain and EU always competing with each other? US, China, Russia, will all be forced to take sides and with NATO, it will be difficult for the US favoring either Britain or the EU. Hope they can work this out.

I don't see what holding a second referendum would accomplish. It would just waste money. Public has spoken. Half want to stay, half want to leave. Britain will have to figure it out.

It will harm Britain more than any other country. Proof they are experiencing internal crisis. Rest of the world needs to work toward minimizing damage a rogue, conflicted nation can do.

Life / Imagine a man killing 15 students in Poland. Would Polish flag be removed? [26]

The Polish flag would not be removed because, and the answer is obvious - it is a flag representing a nation as a whole. A nation that the entire world recognizes as a nation. It doesn't represent a movement within the boundaries of a legitimate nation but the entire nation itself. Therefore, it should not be banned because of one man's abuse. The flag does not symbolize a sliver of Poland but all of it.

Love / Observations and experiences so far about Polish women [93]

Of course there are unattractive girls but even they have great figures.

Maybe they see something besides money and looks but they want values and morals? You need to seriously get out of the mindset that nothing matters but looks and money and no one need to have any substance to them. I applaud anyone who is willing to stay strong and say they won't put up with certain behaviors from others, not for all the money in the world. You should be glad there's still some people like that left in Europe.

History / Origins of Polish Slavs [138]

The Poles came from the same places as others. People kept moving onto other places where there was more food, more to hunt and gather, and less crowding. That is how Europe, Russia and Asia were populated with humans. They just kept breaking away and moving on, little splinter groups, or races if you will since many of them consisted of a small group of closely related individuals. Sounds kinda weird to us now but that is how things were back then.

Life / Anyone like the Polish artist Zdzislaw Beksinski? [5]

Yes, that's who I am referring to. Zdzisław Beksiński. I find him fascinating since he was born in 1929, suffered through the wars with the rest of Poland, and seems to have channeled it into his art. When I look at his art I sense someone who felt a lot of hopelessness and despair but perhaps not consciously. It was like he as in touch with another dimension where all the murky stuff sits waiting to be discovered.

Bloggers have commented his portraits portray death in a warmer way. Most of what he does has been described as portraits of death and when you consider what he and others in the immediate area have been through, he was in touch with that energy and able to express it to others through his work.

Life / Why Polish people are fat ? [81]

People are fat because they eat too many carbohydrates and don't move around enough.

Life / Pączki Day--do Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme count? [39]

I had real pączki from Crest Foods the other day, it said it on the box and everything, and they are a little different than just a jelly filled doughnut. They seem lighter or something. These had either raspberry or strawberry filling and powdered sugar. I would think with this name on the box they are the real deal?

News / Is this the first clear and open signal that Poland makes preparations for war with Russia? [163]

Whatever happens, it does look like a split (and possibly a 2 way population movement) will happen.

I think it's important to encourage Russia from going overboard and the west is needed for this. As far as what is happening inside the country, instead of doing things by the book, entities illegally seized power and are trying to deprive portions of the population their rights. US should not support it.

Check out this article. Seems Ukraine doesn't really want to do anything for itself, just get aid from other countries like Russia and funnel the money into certain people's pockets, not helping the average Urkrainian:

In the two decades after the collapse of the USSR, it should have become obvious that neither West nor Russia had reliable allies in Ukraine. As the demonstrations in Kiev have amply demonstrated, the "pro-Western" camp in Ukraine contains many ultra-nationalists and even neo-fascists who detest Western democracy and modern Western culture. As for Russia's allies from the former Soviet establishment, they have extracted as much financial aid from Russia as possible, diverted most of it into their own pockets, and done as little for Russia in return as they possibly could.

So if the US starts giving them aid, likely they will do the same with it.
