Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [267]

they are. Face it

At least not all!!! I like to think that I'm not one of those.

Examples of other things that people can invent to make themselves feel more important:

in Alabama no black teenager would ever come to my party or even visit me at home, or invite me. Black and White Americans only meet at ball games.

in Poland I know a girl who is OK with drunken dancing with the black friends - but when she received an offer to be together she didn't want to. She told him that she does not want a relationship - but she told me that it's because of him being black.

I'm disappointed at both.

still wisher - sorry.

Life / Why Do You Love Poland? [907]

- people who are nice are very nice and caring (those who aren't nice are mean, but who cares)
- my hair is always dry - I don't mean the rain, I mean the humidity is low
- the autumn is crispy, summer is blasting hot etc.
- Poland has her won 'quiet' background noise that is relaxing me
- business is easy: if one wants to buy/sell, one just speaks to another person and buys/sells. no crazy rituals to be kept.
- plenty of food on the streets like kiełbasa, kaszanka, karkówka, as opposed to pies and cheaseburgers which are dough and fattening
- drivers must stop before a pedestrian so will slow down in towns (from 150 to 70km), rather than slow down to let another car in. i feel safer if the pedestrian is the priority not politeness to other cars.

- shops are open till late
- sundays are quiet
- forests, forests, forests
- my favorite brands: Wojewodzic, Wólczanka, Próchnik, Hexeline, Molton.
- cakes - not very sweet, unless they are tort
- buildings with insulation and thick walls, not cold in winter, can't hear neighbours
- countryside family with a house a rusty car and plenty of spare bedrooms
- herbaciarnie - tea rooms
- abundance of varieties of juices and waters

...so on.

Work / I want to move to Poland (but of course we need to find a good job) [117]

Rafik, I think you are being too presumptuous, its still very hard for a non pole to get a good full time job....poland still has a closed shop metality.

simply the culture is different, yeah?
In Poland the company had to see you and you have to be proactive. That is find the companies you like, put on your suit, get your CV to the personally, and wait for an interview invitation. No agencies, not internet CV sending, only personal contact.

That takes time, and I'm sure it's easier to just pop your CV to the job agent, but we are distrustful, aren't we? My Mom has a firm in Poland and would never hire somebody who did not come and asked about it.

News / What is wrong with Poland that Poles emigrate? [167]

Nearly every Costa coffee or coffee shop I have been to (airports and Motorway service stations) have a Polish or an Eastern European person working there.

Actually, the coffee place that I go to, Nero, has two English 20yo people and they are so sweet and cheerful that I tip for the coffee £2 each time.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

given Torq's eloquent comments 98% of Poles are the decendants of peasants ergo the oxymoron Polish neo-nazi.

Torq, you missed one.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

I've got stuff I hate, too.

I hate it when the people who signed up for the soviet mental culture, and became enemies, try to act as all things were normal (like the proverbial janitors and post office hags). I don't recognize them as my kin. They should admit to belonging to the dark side. But they are trying to pass for common people. ( I would say normal people, but you are western and would think it's something to do with gayness). (On the other hand you are western and may take it for suggesting class). (Lets say ordinary people I guess)

I hate that we don't have a Government, just a Mafia. The Tusku clone being it's face.

I hate people stepping on my toes - I've always had, and judging by the experience of the Brits, it's possible not to do it. I think this needs a media campaign, just like eating meringue with a spoon, advertised by the sorely missed Shazza (Jolanta Kwaśniewska)

News / Dalai Lama says: "POLAND HAS RETAINED ITS SPIRIT" [77]

Is that too much to ask for? I don't think so.

I agree wholeheartedly with that.

I have one sad though about this - with all the 'Free Tibet' graffitis etc... when China will get to work with flattening Tibet down, as they already started, will there be any help for them.

I think for example that we Poles should, after having waited for Western help in the last war, we should understand.

I think that Americans should, because they invaded Iraq on the ground of putting down a regime.

Britain might as well, after all they take part in most of the alive conflicts on the planet.

The question is - will China be 'attackable'?
I'll make a thread.

History / What British unit liberated Poland in 1945?? [445]

It's the second time, when I was giving blood, when an English paramedic told me that his Father was in the unit liberating Poland in 1945?? I am not aware of any British unit in Warsaw in 1945, not that I'm well versed in History.

I know about the Warsaw Concerto in 1944 (thank you Britain), but 1945? That's when the Soviets were doing the liberating...

caters mainly to mafia elements....

That's Poliszynel's secret, innit...

Norman Davies described the previous system in Poland as a spider web of unlawfulness and mediocrity. Korwin-Mikke is noting that this spider web had not given up after 1989 - it has simply changed the name and appearance.

I aggree. In the Soviet colony we were run by BMWs (Bierni, Mierni, ale Wierni - nonactive, mediocre, but faithful). People who could not see outside of their own interests, and would not understand law apart from supporting their own. They are still around.

Sure he can, he's blocking the re-appointment of attorneys.
When Ziobro wanted to be Attorney General and put the mobster behind bars, the entire party was pictured as fascist. (while it is in fact socialist, pro-benefits et c.)

Rightly so. Fascists are 'whippers', so let's whip some mobsters. Or course from mob's point of view, nothing can be less fair.

Let's hope he will be slated and possibly put in jail... It's not so easily done when PO is using international public opinion to Present itself as liberal, freeminded, and cool looking and in direct opposition to uncool 'homophobiac' Kaczynski.

At least Kaczynski is trying to put them in jail. Not that he's dome much good to the economy, being a silly socialist. But PO is not a capitalist party either.

what happened with the judge appointment was that there were some changes to the law, but the judges were actually kept. Old guys are still ruling, and taking rides in other people's joy cars.

well maybe his Dad was in some raid in Poland, that's possible. But it is a SECOND paramedic who tells me that... That would give a very high percentage of people to randomly meet and learn they were sons of heroes...

maybe there was an operation but is now forgotten for some reason?

Aparently they count every piece of ammunition, every gallon of petrol, every spitfire and then - They charge Poland for this.

I'm not sure why that upsets you, enkidu? there was an agreement signed between ours and theirs commands, that we pay for ourselves. you should be proud that we didn't take money.

yes, I know about the bullion.
I think it is the same story as why the Polish command in the UK have not given help to the partisans.
I wish the Brits would open their archives, but they've just decided not to.

Genealogy / Some Macedonian, Croatian, Serbian Second Names look Polish! [38]

Polish names ending in -ski were originally names belonging to noblemen whose family owned a certain village or town

enough of this myth...

that was only a preferred ending and only for families who needed a last name. Chłopi can use that ending too, it's not restricted like von. (Jankowski)

Knights could carry names like:
Świnka, Buczko, Dąbek, Ciołek, Podkowa, Biłozór, Wieliczko, Jarosz, Eberc, Ester, Hoffer, Bucholc, Beneszko, Wańko, Pieszko, Chmura, Miłosz, Giedrojć a nawet Alemani, Murzynowicz, Murdelio, Neapolski i Afri

You appear to know less than nothing. Never even heard of the Cichociemni? The fact that you haven't says a lot about why you believe lies from people such as enkidu.

assumptions, Harry. In fact my Grandmother and her sister hosted the parachuters in her home. After the war she was asked about money given to her, but she was shocked, because' she has never asked for money and been given any.

That is of course referring to what I remarked earlier, that Polish command in London did not give help to the partisans. It's not saying that 'GB is evil', no. It to say that life is not a propaganda poster.

That British people were so anti-Polish that they dropped ammunition to the Germans instead?

Well for one thing Montgomery dropped Sosabowski in front of two divisions of Waffen-SS in Arnhem, because he never liked him.

And really - GB entered the war to protect the colonies against German colonization. You only chose to use the idiots and traitors in our sorry-ass government to make Poland the battlefield for it. I bet you remunerated the traitors well, since they didn't give a damn about the partisans. As referred by Elżbieta Zawacka.

the Polish command in the UK have not given help to the partisans

that's a certain level of generalization, not a lie. I'm not a historian, you see, I'm interested though. Elżbieta Zawacka had gone to London to try and organize some resistance, had asked the Polish command why are they not helping, even with the comms, and received practically no answer. But yes, later there were parachuters, that is help.

Still, you might be personally interested why the GB planes flew over Auschvitz and had not bombed it w trzy dupy, excuse my French. AFTER the Pilecki report.

The Sosabowski thing had happen.

I am beginning to understand why Jews believe Poles hate them - because you are hard trying to make us. (can't be done, my maternal ancestors lived in Lodz, on the internal side of the Ghetto)

Lie, lie and keep lying eh? Give us some proof that the B
FC (which you've already been caught lying about) was ever in Poland or ever saw combat. Not a single member of the BFC ever saw combat while in the BFC.

Funny how you defend the Nazis, Jew... and how you hate Poles, instead of running a polite conversation with us with arguments, all you say is: 'you lie'.

Are you hiding some mixed Polish blood that you are as ashamed of as a Nazi would of a Jewish Father?
Or is that Jews are lying about Poles therefore think that Poles lie too? Prompting you to say stuff like:

Which Polish SS unit was a good anti-semite going to join?

He thinks that only white Catholics can be properly Polish. Everybody else can "just hold a Polish passport". That is because he's a bigot. Although the fact that you appear to think that Israel is a nation for Jews only doesn't speak too highly of you.

Harry, you really are full of yourself - how do you know what other people think or believe? Surely you cannot. Why write that then? That must be a lie, and you - a liar.

To explain the commie issue - yes, I have the commie relations, ignobly deceased, and I don't recognize them as kin. They were traitors. Are you familiar with the idea of a traitor? Someone who works not for the benefit of one's country, native or chosen, but against it?

I can say that they were ethnic Poles, but by nationality they were Soviet and proud of it.

I'm sure that you'll run for this statement like a poor relative running to a dinner party - but there you go. 'Poland' is very hard to define, it's in the heart, it's an idea and a belief. She lives even if there is no state of Poland, remains while the country borders change. You can have blood of your ancestors, or you can have the sentiment, and be Polish.

And stop offending Catholics, Harry. Those who have love of Poloniae are as well Arian Brothers, various Protestants, Muslims, and yes, Jews. Majority are NOWADAYS CAtholic, because of border movement after Tehran, because of RC being in opposition to the Soviet, and because of sermons of Piotr Skarga.

Harry probably believes that if he makes a claim, any claim, and nobody feels like stooping down to answering it at the moment, then he proved the point...

he also uses other eristic tricks, like calling everything a lie, imposing what other thing etc. Catching someone on using eristics in public is a big thing, all those tricks are dirty and prohibited.

there is not much sense in answering him, other that - other people might actually read that and be caught on the forbidden hooks.

ok, steve, whatever did not kill us, is making us stronger.

actually, syaing that Britain sold Poland is a compliment... really. There is no point in saying that to Russia and America. They won't understand and it's stating the obvious anyway. at least with Britain we speak about honour at all.

There are things missing, too. Britain fought for the colonies, on a global scale, so did the Germany. Why use Poland as a battlefield? It makes no sense to sacrifice a country like Poland, rich with resources, for a piece of rock with a little coal and sheep... Guess Mikołajczyk was even dumber than everyone thinks. Like Jaruzelski.

Off to modern times. How come Poland is still run by Jaruzelskis and Tusks? Because, as noted on this forum, we are being told lies.

How come Poland, still full of resources, since 20 years had not become richer than the rock of Britain or Spain? We are run by others, not by us.

Consider for example, when the system fell, people closed down most factories and mines. Why? If a different party takes over, the businesses not normally close down!

This time, people running Poland licked the American buttcheeks so thoroughly, that they closed everything. We are still rebuilding whatever the Soviet had built (badly) and Americans destroyed, like Yugo carmaker in Yogoslavia. Right, Balkancy?
