News / Poland's political crisis deepens [228]

This new EU defense pact could put a major financial strain on Polish citizens.

Not really, it would have identical aims to NATO, and wouldn't require any new expenditure.

News / Eggs in Poland paying for the 550+ [8]

UK butter prices rose at least 50%, over supply resulted in many farmers pulling out of the UK market. Purely a UK situation, but with other actions around the EU, end result is prices rise everywhere.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2860]

" It should also be noted that the UK's definition of "firearm," as used for statistical purposes, includes some imitation guns and other non-firearm items, like pepper spray and stun guns. "

nraila.org/articles/20171117/with-firearm-offenses-up-27-percent-uk-holds-national-gun-surrender

the U.K. banned guns thNOTthe lawabidingcitizens committingthese crimes they theirofa guncriminal gun get in U.K. an uneven playing field.

You are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Criminals don't use guns in the UK to commit crimes, they are used to fight occasional gang related disputes. Nobody gets robbed at gun-point, the majority of mugging s and bag snatching is by unarmed assailants. Using a knife is exceptional, because its utterly unnecessary.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2860]

Criminals (those who have been to jail and got contacts) can get guns. But they don't use them against law abiding citizens except in certain situation - like robbing a bank. This happens about once a decade. Gun crimes consist of armed criminals killing each other execution style.

Law abiding citizens in the UK don't consider it a 'freedom' to own a gun, unless its for hunting when, yes citizens are free to own a gun.

"still has gun crime making". Nope, what you consider gun crime DOES NOT EXIST in the UK or Poland, for that matter.

"a criminal wants a gun he can get one in the U.K.", Criminals don't want and don't need guns to commit crimes in the UK, most of them cannot afford to buy a gun and bullets.

Just to emphasise the point, there is no where is the whole of the UK where you or I could go and be robbed at gun point, day or night.

I would think that all those bright liberal minds would grasp his meaning with a considerable ease. Was I wrong?

What exactly would the purpose of owning a gun be? Hunting, sure, my Polish family has three rifles and two shot guns.

Even though they are entitled to own handguns they see no point, using it would require finding a criminal and killing him/her in cold blood. Killing a unarmed petty thief will land you in jail for murder. My family are right wing nationalistic gun owners who view the idea that a gun is needed for self defense as utterly ridiculous.

UK, Ireland / Racist ex-priest Międlar tries to fly from Poland to U.K. again. [293]

Lets not forget about Brits that still that worship and throw millions of $$ annually to an irrelevant royal family whilst poverty levels increase and Islamic take over persists.

They don't cost the British taxpayer anything, they swapped their lands and assets for a stable income from the government two hundred years ago. The income from the Crown Estates exceeds the amount the government gives to the Royal family.

Thats ignoring the income they generate, probably £250million per year.

One of the things that makes America more civilized place than Europe.

Right... I've seen a Chimp's tea party and that was more civilised than the USA.

Alas if they find the idea that a gun could be useful for self-defence ridiculous I would pretty much question their right winger, nationalistic leaning.

Maybe you should question why you think gun ownership is a right wing, nationalistic issue -outside of the USA.

Its not a party or political issue. There is no connection between a desire to own guns and the party you vote for. I wouldn't vote either ways for any party based on their support for gun laws, there isnt any party thats has ever made it an issue. Nationalist parties in the Uk don't have pro-gun policies, they have no policies on about guns whatsoever.

Committed Polish Nationalists will volunteer for the Territorials, they'll get access to assault rifles, anti-tank, heavy machine guns and training. WTF is the point of a 'freedom' hand gun when you need all that to defend your country?

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2860]

It is not. However if someone think that using a gun in self-defence is laughable you either misunderstood their meaning or they are not a right wing.

I think you should understand that gun ownership is not a right wing thing outside the USA. And that criminals in Europe don't use guns to commit petty crimes, they are generally used to murder family members or criminal enemies.

So the opportunity to use a gun in self defense doesn't exist, hence the link between self defense and freedom and politics doesn't exist.

That's a perfect level because if it was too high we'd then have to worry about rising inflation.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

People in Poland should know this weapon is designed for hunting people and not animals to put food on your table.

He's got a hunting license but wants this for fun.

The point is that if people want these sort of weapons, with effort they can get them. Huntering clubs welcome members.

Ditto pistols, you need a license, but you can get them.

5000pl looks reasonable for a fully accessorised model, I suppose.

UK, Ireland / 31 year old Polish man causes accident under influence of alcohol and kills 8 [198]

"Polish national Masierak, of Evesham, Worcestershire, had been stationary in the slow line for more than 12 minutes, despite miles of hard shoulder being available to him.

At trial, it emerged he did not have a professional licence after it was revoked by the authorities for multiple driving offences including speeding in his HGV, driving his lorry in the fast lane, running a red light and ignoring driving hours limits.

The court heard that Masierak had been driving erratically for more than two hours before the accident, including driving the wrong way around a major roundabout, driving the wrong way down a motorway slip way and then turning on the slip way to retrace his path.

Multiple witnesses reported beeping or flashing their lights at Masierak while he was stationary on the M1, which he ignored, indicating he was either asleep or unconscious at the time.

Cider cans were found in the cab of his lorry, suggesting that he had been drinking while at the wheel.

Judge Francis Sheridan said to Maseriak: "What you have tried to do is blame everyone and everybody except yourself.

"In short, you are a persistent, unmitigated, if not very accomplished, liar."

He said he had shown "no remorse" and that there was "no mitigation" in his case."Masierak had described himself to the jury as a "careful driver" and claimed he had attempted to pull over onto the hard shoulder as he felt unwell, but passed out and could not remember anything.

The court heard that he had not told his employers AIM of any of his previous driving convictions.

He denied he was drunk, claiming the cider cans had been left by a previous driver even though they had his finger prints on them.

History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [939]

$5bn worth of anti-tank missiles with mobile launchers and battlefield anti-air systems would be much better purchase

You obviously don't understand what Patriot is or is capable of. Its a long and medium range anti-aircraft misssile defense sytem with some capablities of destroying incoming ballistic missiles.

Long range is around 300km. As such its useless at defending any other country than Poland. Its may be able to shootdown Russian missiles during launch phase from Kaliningrad but Iskander has a range of 500km and will be aimed squarely at Poland not America.

Patriot is therefore very much a battlefield defense system as it would protect Poland's army and more importantly its cites and airfileds against EXISTING nuclear missiles aimed at Poland today.

As for antitank missiles, Poland has Rosomak IFV's many equiped with Spike LR anti-tank missiles, plus a planned purchase of large amounts of anti-tank weapons of various sorts to add to the thousands of Spike ATM's they already possess.

History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [939]

The patriot system couldnt even catch a salvo of homemade volcano missles l

Its called Patriot, but the missiles, radar and command and control system is generations ahead from the Saudi system, which is quite old now. Sky Cepter could be a game changer from the cost point of view.

Poland out of NATO. Return the junk they just bought and ditch any other ABM's lying around. Get the Americans out of there.

Right, the Russians have nuclear milles on Polands borders, aimed at Warsaw. So **** Off.

Slavictor is right - we need to ditch NATO, ditch the EU,

You spout Russian propaganda, obviously you are a hostile . **** Off Russian.

I'm Polish born and raised,

Traitor or a Kremlin Troll, same thing.

It makes no sense for Poles to poke the bear.

Nope, you are not Polish.

"On February 15, 1991, President George H. W. Bush "
27 years of development makes a lot of difference.

Patriot will be part of a three layer air defense, primaryly against aircraft. This is why you Russians hate it so much your 1960's tech aircraft will be fecked, it IS a major step forward for Poland. Poles, Poles who live here, will happly pay $167 for improving security.

BTW, another follow on order for more Patriots is incoming. And a F-35 order will probably happen.

History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [939]

I know this is too complex for you to grasp, but the main reason why I am so against Poland having a bogus ABM system that costs billions yet isn't effective

Patriot is primarly an anti-aircraft system, its anti- ballistic functions are secondary (only for the US Army). The US uses THAAD for ballistic missile defence.

Poland need it to defend its air bases, without it there will be no Polish airforce in Poland, they will have to move to Germany or be destroyed on the ground.

This alone is reason to buy Patriot (or MEADS). The Israeli Skyceptors may well prove effective against Russian missiles, but the alternative of accepting defeat and certain nuclear obliteration isnt acceptable to Poles.

"That means he'll have more missles to counter the patriot system."
He has already installed as many nuclear missiles as he can\wants, but he's limited by cost and treaty agreements.

"happens to be a sarmat"
Thats a ICBM not the short range missiles in Kaliningrad. Whether is exists is doubtful

what exactly has the West given Poland besides

If you insist on spouting pure unadulterated Kremlin propaganda then you are a Kremlin Tool, no matter where you claim to be born.
