I've recently had a Korean student in class who calls herself by a "traditionally Polish" first name. Granted, we could pronounce her first name with just a little bit of effort, but I think that many people try to be culturally sensitive to the citizens of the place they live. Not doing so is called being a "dick" or "American/British". Of course, everyone is an individual and worthy of maintaining his/her given name, but what's wrong with trying to make life a bit easier on the citizens of one's host country? I see nothing wrong with being adaptable.

Most American holidays are about selling things, it's also spreading across the world. I don't hate Halloween though. Allegedly it came from Ireland when people used to dress up to keep the spirits from taking them back to the land of the dead ( can't be bothered to Wiki this). I think that the idea of putting on a costume (you can make it yourself) and going to a party where there may be carved pumpkins sitting around is quite nice. I like the idea of celebrating the Autumn and the "death" of Summer. If you want to spend 500 zl. on a costume and buy a bunch of plastic decorations that's up to you but decorating the house and having a bit of fun is alright in my book. You can even get up and go clean the graves the next day if you wish.

The job situation for English teachers in Warsaw is fine, you can find as much work as you want as long as you have a bit of a clue about teaching. If you're completely unmotivated, really creepy or have some ridiculously difficult accent which you refuse to drop, you may have problems but for the semi-normal teachers, work is abundant, even in the Summer you should be able to fill in with privates (paying at least 50 zl/60 min. cash). I don't know what the motivation is for people on here painting the situation as dire, it is not, never has been.

I'll pile on and add that 60-70k dollars/year is not possible in the job market unless you are an extremely high-level manager/board member in a major company, this is simply not a sum that is paid. I kind of agree here. If you have permanent residency, why bother? Of course a Polish passport might allow you some extra things, maybe some banking and investing would be easier but as a foreigner, you can't expect everything. Permanent residency allows you to basically do what you want in Poland.

Personally, I'm not for taking in thousands of Muslims or blindly following what the EU dictates. I also happen to disagree with tiny insecure "men" (who think that they are standing up for traditional Polish values or whatever ) trying to tell women what to do with their bodies, it's pathetic.
