History / Crazy 1990s in Poland - transition from communism to capitalism - stories [111]

. They were used to being provided with jobs.when it suddenly turned out they needed to show their own initiative. A complete shock

Great posr!

That is the difference between capitalism and socialism.
Under socialism, you are poor but fed.
Under capitalism, you need to work hard to keep fed.
I think capitalism suits Poles better as they are hard workers that think about the future, their children and grandchildren.
Poland has come a long way since 1989.
Long may it prosper!

Life / Banners and slogans at soccer games in Poland [63]

there is a huge difference between being a couch potato who watches sport and a really active person who has a lot of exercise

I do.

Which are you?

I am guessing the couch potato.

Sport as such is boring most of the time

Obviously, you are not a sporty person
Shame, sport is good for your healrh.
But you are completely wrong if you think politics should be part of sport to "Liven it up".
Sport is about competing, excellence and commitment and politics has no place in it.
Because despite those virtues being the ones that we want in our politicians, most of them seem to sadly lack all those virtues.
Sports people are an example to politicians about how they should behave.

Off-Topic / Pop A Cork - Wine [440]

There are plenty of top Italian and Spanish labels to be had here in the States

Plenty in the UK too.
But they keep the very best for the home market, even the French do that a bit too.
They think we Brits and Yanks are too uncultured to appreciate their best wines.

FIFA: sport should not be confused with politics.🤔

Agreed.I hate that.

All of the virtue signaling and political commentary drives me nuts

Same here, sport is sport and politics should not intervene.

@Alien

French wine is the best, but outside of France is poor value for money.

If you don't live in France, I would go for Australian as best, then American and some South American wines.
Italians and Spanish do not export their best wines, they are even worse than the French for saving their best wines for the home market!

News / Poland to officially demand $1.32 trillion WW2 reparations from Germany [457]

rightard

rightards and naziopolacken

. To all PiS and naziopolacken

You are very obviously a left wing extremist that is obsessed by right wing politics, so much so that you call them rigjhtards and Nazis at every opportunity.

I find the idea of a Polish socialist, after all that Poland has gone through, frankly, as disgusting as I find Polish fascists.

Sounds tasty to me!

n York

Mate, York is a nice city but hardly the gastronomic capital of the UK.
That would be London.
And if you come here I will show you some of the best restaurants in the world.
And yeah, some of them do amazing pizzas.

Do they ever win any Mens sports?

No.
They only have strong women.
Serb men are weak and not too bright.

News / Is NORD STREAM dangerous for Poland's natural enviroment? [540]

That was a sophisticated operation, carried out in stealth in the shallow depth of the Danish straits

Which is why I think this was either Yanks or Brits or both together.
But both countries are able to do this on their own.

. All that risk for little gain?

There is plenty to be gained.

And/or the Poles.

Yeah, maybe.

Whoever has done it, it's the right thing to do

Exactly.
I just don't see why the Russians would do it.

Nah!
Pineapple on pizza is a complete no no.
In fact American pizzas, are mainly no no's.
Italian is the only way to go, thin and crispy.

Do you think by 2050 this will happen? I do.

Not a chance in hell man!

What about White non British in London?

That is something Rich did not think about and shows the frailty of his arguments.

White population in London is about 56%.

Now, this guy got his sums right, unlike Rich.

Almost 45% of Londoners are white British.
37% of Londoners were born outside of the UK but only 24.5 % of those were born outside of Europe.
That means that at the very least, 9% are white .
45 + 9 = 54%
Then add in all the Americans, Canadians,Aussies,Kiwis and South Africans and you get well over 56%.
So Rich, your maths is flawed, your reasoning is flawed.

And why are darker skinned people such a problem.for you?
It may be a problem.in the good old USA, not so much in the UK.
