News / Years of Poland in the EU - assessment of pros and cons [1199]

Ah you mentioned Russia. Is that suppose to be an argument?

Yes, Mr Kremlin troll, comrade Ironside. It is a crucial argument. If you pretend you don`t comprehend it, it means they still pay you generously enough. hahaha

However we are not talking bout history but abut reality and politics.

Mr Kremlin troll, historia magistra vitae. Today`s reality and politics have been heavily influenced by history. If you pretend to ignore it, it means your rates from the Kremlin troll factory are still decent enough to make your living.

Norway is not.

No, it isn`t. Also, it isn`t the Gateway to Europe like Poland. Have you ever heard of Norway conflicted with Russia? No. Draw your own conclusions. Unless your rates are high enough to allow you to close an eye to that problem.

Thank you, Comrade Ironside. Spasibo, Towariszcz Aironsaid.

Ok, so apart from Polish riddles, we also solved one British mystery along the way.

So, a new one: what are they doing and why?

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

Your cats are all so cute!

Yes, that is why we kiss them a dozen times a day each.

Mine are sadly deceased now :(

Yes, our pets live shorter than we. But getting a cat is very easy. I got my first one in 1992 and since then our homes have always had at least one cat - mostly two, twice three.

Your house must be like a small zoo.

Yes, it has been my little predilection to be living in LIVE-ly surroundings. I acquired it decades ago when I worked as a grave digger for a few years. hahahaha

Language / Game - guess Polish idioms/sayings in direct English translation [1756]

Waiting for the stairway to heaven lol! I can't get this.

No, I can`t tell you yet, it is too simple. Just concentrate better, you can do it!
So, I suggested it is not "doing" but "not doing" that matters. Stop thinking about that waiting and move to other options. :):)

Don't worry I don't get it either?

That`s a shame that after 30 years in a foreign land you forgot your Polish. Chemikiem is excused coz she is just learning but you aren`t as you were born in Poland. :):)

That polish doesn't make sense? what a twerp wrote it? Dokonac celu?

Are you drunk again???? hahahaha Do you drink coz you realise what a loser expat you have become? hahaha

It doesn't mix with the hot water.

Yes, of course. I thought hot water is also supplied from an external source. So it is traditionally heated by home gas heaters. Good to know.

In the UK, most boiler systems are run by gas.

How about big cities with power stations which also provide hot water? Aren`t most flats there connected to the system? How about flats with seperate taps for hot/cold water?

News / Years of Poland in the EU - assessment of pros and cons [1199]

There is just a simple Wish to be 100% independant and be the decision maker.

To be so one needs to be a superpower. Poland isn`t and our place is in a group of allies. In 18th century during partitions and later on during Risings Poland was alone without allies. Now we are anchored among allies but still some traitors don`t like it and want Poland to leave the EU. The next step is NATO etc. And the last one is The Polish Republic of Russia.

Yes, but there have always been guys in Polish history who prefered to go with Russia against Western Europe, despite anything. Like Iron today. They are the ones who contributed to partitions and Russian domination of Poland since 1795 to 1989.

who are clueless or don't care or those like pawian who are actually stupid enough to support EU.

No, Mr Kremlin troll, I am the one who prefectly realises your dirty machinations to push Poland out of the EU so that it becomes Russian dependency again for the next 200 years. I am opting to avoid this situation at all cost while you are doing your best to make it happen. You fekking traitor of the Polish cause!!! But Konfederacja politicians and supporters are all like that - they admire Putin and would like to have him for President of Poland. Worthless scum.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

Many people feared that the government would announce the closure of schools on today`s conference. No, they didn`t do it - the rules haven`t changed - head teachers are entitled to close the school after consulting local Sanepid stations. I read that several schools closed without that consultation and nothing happened.

That patch doesn`t belong to you - it is the so called pas drogowy and is the municipal property. I am afraid you need a permission although they might be quite happy to have those trees planted by you.

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

I am still wondering why I decided to adopt that black baby so out of the blue.
E.g.,
-crazy times we are living in now require crazy actions. I thought it would be a good idea to divert my family`s attention from the virus threat.

- our two cats are getting old - they need some new blood. I read that the best way to prolong the cat`s life is to provide it with a mate.

-besides, they are constantly cuddled, snuggled, kept on knees, held in arms and kissed by all of us. I think they might be a little tired of it at their age - Greyfus is 12 Ginger is 11.

- everything we do is God-ordained. It was pure God`s will that I overheard the conversation about cats between my female students who were showing each other photos while in class. I meddled and demanded to see the photos and that`s how the idea was planted in my mind.

Language / Polish sayings [237]

"Tonący brzytwy się chwyta"- "The drowning person grips a razor"

Today often converted to tonący brzydko się chwyta - the drowning man catches dirty.

doggies ar for people who need to be loved because they have low self esteem and kitties are for people who don't need that

yes, I have always agred with that opinion. People who have a lot of love to offer prefer cats.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

Your tomatoes look absolutely delicious.

Thank you very much. Reading about pickling them, I found a mention of using green tomatoes - popular in Ukraine or Belarus. Today I collected the last bucket of tomatoes, they are mostly green coz the plants have already died. Tomorrow I am going to put them in jars.

Work / Is there a luxury market in Poland? [6]

Are there any well-off Poles?

No, hardly any. Most of us are like that: check out my family: they are waiting for the star. My uncles and aunts.

I am only showing it to proove it was a real wild stag, not a domesticated tame one.

In winter some mountains in Poland are closed to traffic due to avalanche hazard. I am not sure about Bieszczady.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

It depends where they live- if close to a brick factory, then they prefer tradtional bricks.

That only leaves central heating that I mentioned earlier. Pipes going to a new boiler somewhere?

I am not sure what you mean by a boiler.
OK, I won`t torment you any longer. They are pipes for hot water to the bathroom and kitchen. Before, the whole estate used gas heaters.
