Life / SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT POLAND AND POLISH SOCIETY [297]

Edit: not a big fan of pea soup but everything else I’m willing to try as long it’s authentic Scottish cuisine.

Im English! Have you tried home made pea and ham soup? Soup made with the stock off a smoked ham?

I'll PM you some taste bud delights..

People make things to be enjoyed by others and not to tittle-tattle with elitist ramblings.

Very true...My ex is Hungarian and couldnt believe the food that English people actually eat at home, they buy these cheap (value range) cottage pies in the supermarket and think thats what they actualy taste like... :( It breaks my heart :(

I will say I found the food in Wraclaw must better than Krakow and did actually have a couple of very nice meals in Polish restaurants..(the Italian was in Krakow :D ) That chain called Sphinx is awful, even worse than any chain in the UK..processed shyte that I actually left after one mouthfull..

Cullen Skink is rarely heard of outside of Scotland. It is very tasty!

Exactly..Most foreigners dont bother to try new stuff, Ive nearly perfected it..Its heaven in a bowl!

As for the soups...My barley broth and chicken soup and pea soup and beef broth and I could go for ever but I wont are all delicious....You cant get these in super markets and most Poles dont have an English or Scotish friend so they're never going to get a decent British meal while they're living in the UK, unless they know someone British who can tell them where the hidden gems are...

For anyone in Manchester I can recommend:

Sams Chop House
Thomas's Chop House

Neither are cheap, but you get what you pay for!

It's what we say in the UK. That porridge makes a man of you. Women just have to worry that it'll put hairs on their chest ;0 :)

Lol :D

'Beef burger' is crap everywhere.

Im not in to these things but my mate had Aberdeen Agnus burgers at her BBQ..I have to admit I eat one and it was rather nice, it actually tasted of meat...so...burgers are not all the same.

To put it in a proper perspective, sausages are made from meat that can't be used in a better way.

Not if they're proper Cumberland sausages or Irish sausages...They're full of meat.

Try Fisherman's Pie or Admiral's Pie. Both are tasty options!

Now we're talking, can I addd Cullen Skink whilst we're on the whole fish thing! Heaven on the taste buds! You cant beat a good fish dish in Britain!

We have many good home-made soups too. All on the net :)

My pea and ham soup is a legend in its own lunch time :D

Porridge makes you big and strong. It's the stuff of legends!

A touch of golden syrup and a pinch of salt :D

see the innocent beauty of filmstar kaif. whole world is crazy for the lady from india. see shlipa sethi.

Neither are that hot, an "average" Polish girl would knock spots off both of them.
From my observations in England, most Indian women have big (huge) teeth and even bigger noses and either dress like they come from a village or like they dressed head to toe in cheap Primark..

unfortunately he has gone to the great bar in the sky

Oh well, thankfully they still keep repeating his progs, I do enjoy his "style"... :D

Also, we have soldiers in Britain. No, not the military type but the ones where you slice a slice of toast into strips and then dip them into egg yolk from a soft-boiled egg.

Yummy!

People in Poland tend to eat only Polish food and when they are abroad nothing changes much.

Such a shame, I can cook anything and when abroad like to try different things..Yes I tried a few things in Poland, the fruit pierogi was the nicest..

Regarding Katrina Kaif, her mum is British and white :D She's that Indian she had to take Hindi lessons....lol....

Do you want Jamie Oliver's or Gordon Ramsay's phone number? ;) The English will let the Poles catch up in the grubasy stakes :)

To name but two..but what about Keith Floyd?

Rubbish, basically. Chicken tikka masala, fish and chips, all-day-breakfast. Tea with milk. Half-baked bread you can't spread butter on. Shepherds pie. Beef steak, OMG, the peak of English inventiveness, three kinds of it... Cakes, disaster. Simple thing, scrambled eggs, and they can't make it edible. I remember one English Best Chef on TV: 'and don't forget to pour milk in time, so that...' Grotesque.

Been to Poland and the best food I got was in an Italian restaurant! By the way you missed:

Toad in the Hole
Scouse - with dumplings
Cornbeef Hash
Cottage Pie
Pasties
Beef Wellington
Kedgery
Sunday Lunch

I love ales. Brits don't, Brits prefer Ozzie p1ss, and second class lagers like Stella.

Thats why we have 1,000s of micro breweries and have real ale festivals..yep we hate ale!

English have no idea, what food is. And what for.

Thats why we have some of the best chefs in the world..again, of course you are right, I dare not say a Pole could be wrong..of course you have Polish chefs at top restaurants all over the world dont you? ROFL!

Most Poles have never tried anything other than Polish food before they stepped out of Poland, at least Brits have wider tastes! As for our breakfast, its better than some hard peice of bread and slice dry curley of ham!

Amathyst, yawn! There is intolerance and I wasn't entering into comparative studies at all. Don't tag on stuff like the Malaysian thing and use it against me as I know full well that the press victimises Islam and Muslims. I really dislike that, tagging on an extra part to make out that I said sth bad. What I said was true!

But you said that Poles are intolerent because they dont want to regonise other religions, which is a lie, they have a rich history of Judaism and Tartars who are Muslims so my point was valid I was showing you that muslim countries are in fact intolerent.

Did you know that in Malaysia they have ID cards and on their cards they have their religion, but if a person is not a muslim then the space where it states "religion" remains empty if they are a non muslim, they are not allowed to practice their religion in public, they are persecuted..So a few anti muslim lines in the DM are nothing..They usually generated because they are phographed holding plaquards calling our brave soldiers butchers and stating that England will be a muslim state! So you can yawn all you like..Its okay to call one group intolerent but not another?

It was brilliant indeed. No troll can feel safe with Amathyst around :)

Absobloodylutly! It beggers belief that a 3rd worlder would degrade Poland..Ive visited 3 times..it's no different to any other European country Ive been to.

And none of those universities taught you decent English.

They're just on paper, he "purchased" them! Its common practice!

as for english is concerned it is not my native language

Lie No. 3, you said you were "brought" in America?

he termed these migrated poles as a bit lower class poles.

Damn I must tell that to one of our Engineers at work :( She'll be gutted! NOT!

please tell me honestly

Pakis and Indians have names like Asif so I doubt you lot know what "truth" reall means!

I would like to ask you a question though, why do you lot always seem to think its okay to touch female patients in an inappropriate manner, a friend of my works for GMC and they're forever dissiplining / striking you off for your for disgusting behaviour!

Now please stay in doors so you are not subjected to such decadent behaviour (which most men would just enjoying watching form afar!) which will lead to yet more rejection!

Another lie, your command of English is terrible (your over use of "one" doesnt make you sound English, it just makes you sound silly and the simple mistakes with regards to tense are even worse) and I find it hard to believe you could command a goat let alone a team of educated adults.

how true you are in your assessment. what i command are poles and they call themselves educated adults and you term them as goats. what an honour from a pole to an other pole

Read my post, I called you an out and out liar, you command no one.

Well said, Amathyst. Well said indeed!

You see Torqy, us "Europeans" stick together, whether we be North, East or South ;0)

Religious intolerance through perceived dangers and a reaction to sth foreign.

Why are you calling Poles intolerent and saying they perceive dangers - do you feel this way about Malaysians who openly descriminate against Christians? Why is that Muslim countries can make life hell for other religions but they feel they have all the rights in the world in Christian countries ?

they still got a long way to go in religious tolerance,

They have mosques..they just dont want any more..they have show tolerence by allowing muslims to access their places of worship, which is more than muslims would do for Roman Catholics in muslim countries.

i went and asked her why she is occupying the public pavement. while the fact is that there is sufficient place else where in the park. she abrubptly replied to show to public i have chosen this point.

I am going to call you a liar, I dont believe you.

Born in subcontinent India,

Then you should know all about bad roads and dirty toilets more than any "Europeans" could ever.

working on high administrative post having poles also under command

Another lie, your command of English is terrible (your over use of "one" doesnt make you sound English, it just makes you sound silly and the simple mistakes with regards to tense are even worse) and I find it hard to belive you could command a goat let alone a team of educated adults.

Please continue with your rant though, its highly amusing that a 3rd world immigrant could possibly judge a country like Poland on anything and certainly not tolerence - you have "untouchables" in your culture...

wheather stuff has or not but do behave like western europeans. hi hi hi

I dont think so.

i was brought in hunstvil albama usa

Did you mean "bought" Ive heard so much about the sale of little brown babies..maybe $1?

so here is the proof of being racist.

Is it not a fact that Indians shyt in the street? Its not racist to point it out. You sound like some pathetic Indian who cant get a "white" girl friend so you have to degrade them, you also keep mentioning how the Poles are not "western european" you are right but its only geography that makes them East and me West..nothing more..

Genealogy / Polish equivalent of "Jessie"? [48]

Jessie or Jess is a common version of Jessica as for Janina sounds absolutely nothing like the English Jane, it sounds more like Janine, WTF is it with eveyone wanting to know if they have a Polish version of their name..Im quite happy to say Shelley is pure English and there's definately no foreign version!

Love / Ten things to remember when you have a Polish girlfriend [79]

naw, i'm just not into public displays of affection, it's reminds me of teenagers.

Even old people hold hands..its normal....sticking your tongue down someones throat in public is different and not cool.

Horny is for the bedroom.

How boring. What about the livingroom, the bathroom, the kitchen and the local park?

Polsih girls dont like football, wtf is up with that? ok a lot of girls dont like football but you'll find a few that will.

My ex was happy I hated footie, he was also happy that I'd drop him off sober on match days and pick up not so sober, that was the extent of my involvement in football and it worked well..I actually find it quite unnatural when women clad themselves in football shirts and understand the offside rule.

Genealogy / Is your line of the Polish family noble? [74]

I'm not formal you've been shouting at me for calling you Shelly so long i got scared!

At least spell it correctly - Shelley - I mean the ShelleyS Thats just an initial :D

You're a scary woman and it takes a lot to scare me given i served in Vietnam, Cambodia and aboard the Death Star!

You might be on to something there my team always do as I tell them ;0)

TBH i've no idea but i didnt see a lot of 'em in London, mind you most of them stay hidden, they're sly bastards those Jews

You didnt venture to Golders Green then..Nothing sly about them there..

Yes and yes but they dont live there, out of a mouth of a guy i know who's Jewish, you can be safe and comfy in US or comfy and not safe at all in Israel.

One American who said this...oh right it must be true :D

Right now its even more severe, many Jews are leaving for US since you dont want to raise your kids in a country sized bomb shelter.

Did this American tell you this? Again it must be true, there's a mass exodus of American born Jews from Ireal, I must let the DM know that all the European born ones are staying there..

Shelleys they keep erecting that stuff left right and center but population wise they're a minority.

You live in Poland how would you know what its like where I live? You lot got rid of Jews, we have thriving communities :D Rather them than the alternative, at least they're clean and decent.

Define a lot? Not even 1/10th of Irish for example.

You might want to examine those figures when you look at the population of Ireland at the time of their first mass exodus (my GGG grand father was one of them that ended up in England not America and there were 1,000s like him that ended up here)..There were Jews travelling from all around Europe for decades, some may have not openly admitted they were Jewish because they wanted a new start - just because they dont all don funny hats and scream from the roof tops its Yom Kippur it doesnt make them less Jewish..Unlike the Irish they dont need to make statements like St. Pats day..

Its not, its filled with european Jews, American Jews are a relatively small part of the population having no incentive to budge from US.

I think you'll find most of the cash comes from American Jews and I think you'll find there are a lot of American Jews with Israeli passports (our Jewish posters could possibly varify this?) - the blatant disregard for European Jews was shown by the fact they used European passports for the Mossad attack in Dubia, there were no American passports!

Shelleys

Dont be so formal, you can drop the S, Sock! ;0)

Given that Jews were a minority in Europe

Ive got 14 synagogue's / congregations within a spitting distance, jews are not a "minority" they just keep themselves to themselves so we're just not aware of how many there are, I imagine its the same as in America - and as for your information a lot of Jews did cross the atlantic to escape persecution in Europe - why do you think Israel is filled with wealthy American Jews?

( i mean most) i'm not gonna be fooled ok? :)

Yeah right.

My advice is to say it in your own language...it always sounds sweeter when you are not mispronouncing it..
