UK, Ireland / Brexit complications for UK nationals [49]

99% of people don't notice any difference

:):):) If they didn`t, they would still support Brexit. But they are against it because their situation has worsened. Ha!!!

Polonia / Elon Musk tells Germans to "move on"! [247]

Should the killer be punished?

You are asking too many questions.
I have an idea. You need to find yourself a good medium, preferably an old woman, to get you in touch with Hitler`s ghost. Then you will be able to ask him about anything when you meet at the table.
When you are done, come back and tell us what you heard. :):):)

UK, Ireland / What English food would you serve a Pole? [172]

you called Polish bigos? :::)))

Bigos was OK and you liked it very much!!! You were slightly critical only to wind me up! Ha!!!!

you take pictures and all the glory.

Depends. My wife never cooks some strange things I do. She and kids living with us have quite different views on food.

no help from Mom

No help coz my mom died more than 20 years ago.

I found one more pic of my breakfast - I had a taste for sth sour so I took vinegar herring. Plus standard sausage, liver sausage, salami, chilli pepper, baby tomatoes and fermented red borsch drink.

there is no connection between knowledge and borders

Stop nonsense about the borders. The environment you live in shapes your acquisition of knowledge. During your 30 years of emigration you didn`t have the opportunity to be in close contact with Polish culture on a daily basis. You only visited pierogi bars from time to time.

That is one of the reasons you are troubled with this stupidity of yours concerning Polish issues. As if you dropped from the moon and saw Poland for the first time in your life.

History / Poles should apologise to Ukrainians first [395]

It started in 11th century. Prince Chrobry, later the first king of Poland, attacked Red Ruthenia and captured Kiev in 1018.

As you can see, it was the Polish King who invaded Russ lands and captured Kyiv.

Grateful Poles/Polesses put him on two banknotes: in communist and capitalist times. Amasing!

UK, Ireland / Brexit complications for UK nationals [49]

Exactly 5 years ago Brexit became a fact.
Today, Brits are not so happy about it. Only 30% fully support Brexit while 55% believe it was a mistake.
Also, 55% Brits would like to join the EU.

History / Curious facts about Polish kings and queens [12]

King Casimir ruling Poland in 14th century became the Great after decades or centuries when Poles/Polesses finally appreciated his amasing contribution to the development of the country.

He established about 200 towns and initiated the construction of 50 castles which protected Poland from its enemies. These castles are still popular attractions, most as well preserved ruins and a few fully restored.

No gutless, just gentle.

See how they deal with angry farmers and hunters - in velvet gloves.

PS. Curious thing - people sprayed with police tear gas really feel bad.

@Alien

No, it is a street named after the black soil prevailing in the area. Still, some residents don`t like it. Strange. Probably rabid rightists or nationalists.

Law / Gun control in Poland: should Polish people be allowed to own guns? [1070]

Thank Goddess 99.9% criminals in Poland don`t possess firearms. I imagine that bloodshed if most did.

Shooting in Warsaw's Białołęka. Police car attacked
The incident took place on Pomorska Street in Warsaw. According to the Warsaw police, shots were fired from a gas weapon at an unmarked police car. After a short chase, the officers detained three people, and in the car of the attackers they found, among other things, an axe and a machete.

History / Curious facts about Polish kings and queens [12]

The king is remembered till today for other interesting things,

Some of his personal characteristics are really amasing. We need more people like him today.

Sigismund III Vasa was well-educated and fluent in five languages, including Polish. The future king was already a very serious man in his youth, full of monarchical dignity who avoided feasts. Sigismund III Vasa was distinguished by his diligence, piety, and inner discipline. He began his day by listening to two Holy Masses . He remembered to recite the breviary and the hours every day until the end of his life . He was a good manager and tripled the income of the royal treasury.

He was artistically gifted, he dabbled in painting and goldsmithing, played the clavichord and was an expert in architecture. He took care of art. He collected paintings by Venetian and Flemish masters, creating the first modern gallery in Poland. He also developed his artistic passions in sculpture, engraving, woodcarving, goldsmithing and amber processing. He made gold chalices, patens, monstrances, candlesticks, lamps, and he loved building clocks. He donated the objects he made to churches and friends. He was interested in alchemy, which was to become an indirect cause of the fire at the Royal Castle in Kraków in 1595.

The king liked hunting, played football , and took care of the orchard and garden

Wow, hats off! A true Reneissance person.

No wonder Warsavians erected the Sigismund Column

Can you imagine that they reerected it after Nazi Germans had completely blown it up during WW2???
Those Warsavians are really stubborn. That`s probably why I like them so much.

History / Curious facts about Polish kings and queens [12]

King Sigismund III Vasa who ruled in 16/17th century was half Polish half Swedish. Critics blame him for starting throne wars with Sweden which continued for decades and eventually led to the catastrophic "Deluge" of Swedish armies in the second half of 17th century which seriously exhausted Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth .

The king is remembered till today for other interesting things, though.

He moved the capital from Cracow to Warsaw in 1596. The reason - shorter route from Warsaw to the Lithuanian part of the Commonwealth.
No wonder Warsavians erected the Sigismund Column next to their Royal Palace. The highest statue column in Poland.

They only had 'battels' with Germans if they clashed with them by mistake

Bs. You are ignorant about Polish history after spending pathetic 30 years in emigration. Ha!!!!!

There were dozens of battles in which leftist/communist partisan units fought gallantly against Nazi Germans. In Yugoslavia the leftist resistance led by Tito was the strongest of all. And that`s what counted the most - repel the deadly enemy who endangers the existence of your nation first and only then settle ideological differences.
Anybody who doesn`t understand that simple rule is an imbecile. You are one now.

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitwa_pod_R%C4%85blowem

The Battle of Rąblów, due to the huge disproportion in numbers and armaments of the fighting sides, became a great success for the fighting partisans. Skillful fighting in a system of encirclement defense , with excellent use of the specific terrain, allowed the saving of the overwhelming majority of the troops and equipment, while inflicting more severe losses on the enemy. All the troops participating in the battle, after leaving the encirclement, continued to fight against the occupier until liberation. The Battle of Rąblów went down in history as an example of the possibility of cooperation on the battlefield, between the AL and the AK - formations in conflict, both politically and ideologically, and also the only example of an entire AK unit transferring to the AL

Niggerr Street in Poznan is a bit controversial to some residents., However, the local council resists the change, claiming it will entail too many problems with replacing documents etc.

they were getting rid of some

Bs. Getting rid of patriotic fighters who were ready to kill Nazi Germans intent on annihilating the whole nation. Purely murderous imbecilism.

They should

Bs.
PS. It is amasing that one can be so stupid and narrow-minded like you. That is why I generally reject all nationalists as pea/nutbrains.

I presumed

Please, don`t say what you presumed. You are so close so stop nitpicking. :(:(:

Let me repeat ignoring all presumptions:

the 33.3% correctness of your reply referred to eating. The remaining 2/3 which needs to be guessed apply to live and mouse. :):):)

Just try to guess this one. Don`t be afraid of guessing wrongly. You are stronger mentally than many pathetic "males" here.

Actually, real history. Jan Kazimierz I was talking about had 25% Polish genes and was elected as the King of Poland by Polish nobility.

How many Russian genes did Catherine the Great have???? :):):)

one day

One??? That trecherous scum has been haunting Poland since 17th century when some nobles decided to drop the legitimate Polish King and support the Swedish one. In result we got the Deluge - the second most devastating invasion in our history, after German Soviet invasion of Poland 1939.

If PiS helps make Poland join Russia

:):):)

I am sure they would gladly accept your proposition. :):):) They are not only thieves but also traitors, the same like those who led to the partitions of Poland in 18th century.

Why do Russians want to be partners with such scum??? Don`t you have your honour????
No, as barbarians you don`t. :(:(:(
