You have to add fresh cabbage to sauerkraut.

That's how my mom makes it too.

Its my understanding that in, for example, the USA, there are food hygiene regulations which stipulate that sauerkraut *must* be made with far more salt than would be used in Poland.

Depends what brand you buy. You can buy salt free if you like too.

Lol. You noticed that too.
Poles are very fashion conscious. Especially when it comes to church. They put on their best and they look with utter disgrace if someone wears jeans to church.

1. Some Poles will not work on a Sunday, not even mow the lawn. Because that's work.
2. Poles don't trust one another. When you buy a car, the buyer doesn't trust the seller, even if the seller is telling the truth.

3. They like to push, like on a crowded bus or tramwaj. Even if there's no more room, they will still sqeeze in. Somehow. And then you smell their sweaty armpits.

1. When a Polish woman talks to another woman, she eyes her up from shoes to hair while you're talking to her, like what you're wearing is the most important thing in the world.

2. When a Polish man talks to another woman, he eyes her up also. But for other reasons.
3. Their favorite subject is about: who is sick , who had an operation, who's wątroba is hurting today, etc.

Life / Orphanages in Poland [82]

You should contact the orphanage before you go there, not everyone speaks english so you might have a hard time communicating so learn a few basic words. You might be able to take the children for walks because they don't always go outside to play in other areas besides the orphanage.

Lol. I was reading comments on a polish site and they were talking about a Polish actress. Lol. Some made nice comments, but some weren't so nice. They said her face looks like she got runned over by a tractor. Lol.

Why do Americans look for jobs in other countries? Because they want to live someplace besides America, for a while, anyway. Same goes for Poles or anyone else.

Why are there so little patriots in Poland? Why don't Polish people mobilize themselves and make the country better instead of being so competitive against one another to see how much money they will make in another country. Stop the government corruption and complaining and go to work. On your own country.

4th or 5th generations of Americans should always remember why and how their ancestors left their native country.
Wasn't it to find a better life?

What a silly comment. What is wrong with bettering your life in Poland? Why do Poles look for jobs in other countries? Why do they think they have to go to the US or England to better their life?? Why don't they stop wasting their money on drinking and smoking and use their hard earned money to better their own country. Poland is beautiful place to live and work, but Poles don't know or don't want to work thinking that if they leave to work elsewhere they will better themselves. That's why China is building Poland because all the Poles are gone making a better living in another country.

Absolutely, approximately 25% of Americans have college degrees, however public colleges in US are on the level of European elementary schools.

In the US we start school at age 6. In Poland they start at age 7.
In the US after completing the 8 grades everyone is required to go on to high school, which is equivalent to a Polish liceum. In Poland it is not a requirement to further your education beyond the primary 8 grades. Some continue their education at a technicum after those 8 years while in the US they go to technical school after 12 years of school.
