Language / "Ego" as an ending in Polish Names? [19]

You can also say, using "Klepackiego" not only as possesive like:
"Spotkałam Klepackiego." In the case, it means "I met Klepacki"; "I met him".
Just one of many examples to illustrate what Ziutek mentioned in his post.

Language / Spelling "aunt" in Polish [142]

Polishmama
Yes, I live in Northern part of Poland.
Why do I "hate" the word?
I am ciocia for sweet little girl. I prefer her to call me "Madzia". She always calls me with my name.
Ok, saying "ciocia" I see ugly, older woman around 30-40-50 years old who thinks "God, the best years of my life has gone away with wind".

Some time ago had a very fat, ugly "ciocia", dressed in grey, sad coat, wearing a strange beige (light yellow :)) cap, when I was a child.

It's the only reason. My memories from early childhood.

Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't notice your post earlier.
I live in Poland. Why "ant"?
Because, although I teach English, my pronounciation is not good enough.

Genealogy / What are common Polish character traits? [417]

Generosity, courage, nobility - these are some of good sides of the character.
Bad: temperament. some of people just are like a wind. Some even call Polish national treat (philosophers).
Sometimes they want to helpful, sometimes they just forget about it. Poeple promise something, and when the time comes to make the thing, they just pretend or just strongly belief that nothing happened.

example: I'll call you tomorrow.
You wait for the call and nothing happens. The person forgot. It makes me feel stupid.

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

To continue the topic:
The more I try to see reality around me - the more surprised I am. actually many things change for tbe better: everything changes and the pace of these changes just surprisees me:he is horrible from one point of view, but, on the other and hand it's good.

well, I can only say that the world changes only if we are ready to notice it. If we aren't and everything around us just seems to grey (like polish films) for example.

I have a friend who used to say every single time I was with her to see a movie that polish firlms are grey. I don't now what did she want to say, but, watching films depends od your personl abilities to see what the screenplayer or director want to show.

Life / Why Polish people should be proud of being Polish? [370]

A naive answer maybe, but, because Polish are a proud nation.
:)
To be more specific, I am proud mostly of Polish writers: Sienkiewicz, Reymont, Słowacki, Norwid, Wyspiański, the list could be very, very long...
