Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Criminals (those who have been to jail and got contacts) can get guns. But they don't use them against law abiding citizens except in certain situation - like robbing a bank. This happens about once a decade. Gun crimes consist of armed criminals killing each other execution style.

Law abiding citizens in the UK don't consider it a 'freedom' to own a gun, unless its for hunting when, yes citizens are free to own a gun.

"still has gun crime making". Nope, what you consider gun crime DOES NOT EXIST in the UK or Poland, for that matter.

"a criminal wants a gun he can get one in the U.K.", Criminals don't want and don't need guns to commit crimes in the UK, most of them cannot afford to buy a gun and bullets.

" It should also be noted that the UK's definition of "firearm," as used for statistical purposes, includes some imitation guns and other non-firearm items, like pepper spray and stun guns. "

You are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Criminals don't use guns in the UK to commit crimes, they are used to fight occasional gang related disputes. Nobody gets robbed at gun-point, the majority of mugging s and bag snatching is by unarmed assailants. Using a knife is exceptional, because its utterly unnecessary.

So if Canada has had 2 major incidents then proportionately the United State should have 20 incidents which is about equal.

USA has 365 mass shooting per year, which is about 3650 times as many as the UK with 5 times the population. Thats a guess because there has been two mass shooting in the UK in 1996 (when automatic weapons were banned) and 2010.

UK, Ireland / The "Paracetamol Myth" - Polish people hesitate to visit UK doctors. [46]

(in his view the nurse was in danger of infecting anyone and anything they come into contact with and the idea of throwing the uniform in the family wash was kind of sickening to him).

Nurses change in and out of uniform at work, in the UK.

Life / Tap Water quality in Poland [44]

Krakow water is perfectly fine to drink, EU water plant guarantees that.

Depending on if any of those old pipes are lead pipes.

Little Lead piping left in the EU, its more of a problem in the USA.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

greencarreports.com/news/1112159_rip-natural-gas-cars-doomed-by-cheap-gas-and-electric-cars

Interesting difference to the EU and US, LPG is half the price of petrol or diesel in Poland, more than half the cars sold run on it.

History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [943]

If you have any other information?

Yeah.

Thats bullshit.

A very good example of the relationship between Germany and Russia, despite the fact that because of the war with Germany, Russia has lost 20 million people they have a good relationship and they do not constantly

Germany has admitted its guilt and would never do the same thing again. Russia on the other hand is deluded about its past and is even today attempting to rebuild its Empire by re-invading and occupying its neighbours and throwing our direct threats of nuclear annihilation to anyone who dares to cross it. Also neither of the former allies were innocent, both started the war with the 1939 invasion of Poland

because there is no more Hitler and Stalin,

Really, there looks like a Stalin in the Kremlin today, with the full support of its rabid population.

Life / How are electric cars doing in Poland? [413]

"Currently, electronics makers in Asia control the battery business. South Korea's LG Ltd. and Samsung SDI Co. are among the top vendors, according to BNEF. Asia is expected to maintain its lead with an additional eight factories being constructed in China alone.

Automakers are moving quickly to secure battery capacity. Daimler's factory would be the biggest yet in Europe, responding to Tesla's $5 billion Gigafactory venture with Panasonic Corp. ."

"Large-scale factories planned in Sweden, Hungary and Poland, as well as Daimler's battery assembly plant in Germany, are expected to feed demand from automakers such as Volkswagen AG and Renault SA. "

Tesla is building 3 gigantic battery factories.

Problem for Tesla is that the two other major battery manufacturers are matching the production of Tesla/Panasonic to supply the rest of the worlds car manufacturers.

So Poland is still talking about it while Tesla is cornering the market.

Tesla have 10% of the European electric car market, they aren't market leaders

Poland will end up buying batteries from Tesla directly along with charging stations in the long haul.

You seem to under the delusion that Tesla have a monopoly on any part of the electric car market:

- Electric batteries are being manufactured by two other battery makers whose production will exceed Tesla's. Tesla's batteries are made by Panasonic

- Hundreds of companies make charging stations, a standard wall socket will do a a push.its 19th century technology.

- Cars are manufactured by hundreds of companies with vastly more manufacturing experience than Tesla. That's why Nissan and BMW outsell Tesla with lower prices.

These battery factories alone (not including the cars and charging stations that PANASONIC builds) by 2020 will dominate the world market.....cha ching !

There, corrected you

That is why I was wondering why Poland hasn't offered Tesla a tax break and incentive to invest not only in plants to build cars and batteries but also the charging stations.

Tesla is only the 5th largest selling electric car maker in Europe, with 10% of market share. There will be little market for Tesla cars in Poland.

Why the F*** would Poland offer incentives to Tesla?

More bollocks.

Haphazard opinions are not facts.

And sales figures from a year ago that directly contradict the latest numbers is down right deceitful.

cleantechnica.com/2017/07/05/nissan-leaf-sales-keep-growing/

And of course in Europe the Tesla is not the market leader by a long shot.

The electric Nissan leaf and Mitsubishi were total flops.

Bollocks of the first order.

Since its inception, more than 250,000 Leafs have been sold worldwide through December 2016, making the Leaf the world's all-time best-selling highway-capable electric car in history.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

No the Brit bobbie does not carry a side arm, but now you will see the thousands that have had to be trained and issuead with urban assault rifles.

They will have to be trained, but it will take years. A side arm is of no use to a policeman, trunchen, pepper spray and taser is more than sufiicent.

The assualt rifles are in case of terrorism, personally I prefer they bring in the army and SAS.

There used to be army bases encircling Central London and there is still a few left, helicopter on the roof and onsite in a few minutes, armed to the teeth all the way to Carl Gustav's.

The decrease in the number of crimes involving firearms

Over the past 10 years strongly decreased the number of crimes committed using different types of weapons . These are very large drops, usually several times, eg. In the case of firearms decline of 1 170 offenses in 2002 to 490 in 2012, a gas of 254 to 70, dangerous tools from 6 730

There are ten times as many people in the U.S.A. as there is in Poland so many more variables to make up stats.

More like 350 per year in the USA. There has been one in 1996 and one in 2010 in the UK . Per capita thats 500 times more mass shootings in the US than the UK. With Poland its even higher.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

Remember back in 1997 when England outlawed handguns and the murder rate shot up 45% for the next eight years.

Are you nuts? handguns had to be kept at home in a hidden gunsafe. They were never used for self defence, purely for sport. Criminals do NOT commit crime with guns. The murder rate is driven by the usual domestic issues and teenage gangs stabbing each other over nothing.

Its impossible to make the claim that a gun is required for self defense in the UK, there is no threat that would justify it. If anyone in the UK truely beleives that their life is in danger from armed criminals they would be sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
