Most of the remaining population would engage in guerrilla warfare at this moment. They would make Russian occupation very costly but wouldn't be able to defeat Russia.

If someone had said that, despite adopting mobilizations, Russia using thermobaric weapons, hypersonic missiles, and only avoiding nukes due to the fear of the end of the NPT, which is not in the interest of other nuclear-armed countries, they would only conquer about 15% of Ukrainian territory even after Ukraine stopped receiving US aid for months, I would call that person crazy optimistic.

So, I am very happy that America finally pulled its head out of its ass and granted Ukraine another aid package.

Even better that the aid got some bipartisan support. This gives hope that aid will continue after the elections, no matter who wins.

It is also worth noting that the US finally made the decision to use Russian frozen assets to finance Ukrainian defense. So the Russian assets will be liquidated and money acquired put to good use. No return to business as usual once this war is done. Hopefully the EU does the same.

Finally, its worth noting that during the period when USA was stalling military aid from Europe increased. Czechia is realising its big ammo supply program, France is going to deliver more than 70 Caesar artillery systems, also the West is working to provide Ukraine with up to 7 additional Patriot batteries. And training of F-16 pilots from Ukraine continues.

None of this means some miracle weapon or a game changer, like the Russkies like to joke about. However it means delivering Ukraine much needed capabilities to defend themselves. Hopefully we'll be able to do it as long as it takes for the Russian bear to fu*ck off.
