News / How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ? [265]

So the unconstitutional version of the constitutional tribunal..... try again.

I never said anything about the Tribunal - use your own knowledge of the Polish constitution to support your claim that the pardon Duda gave to the two PiS politicians in question was invalid

hear it from gumishu

I dream daily about gang-raping big beautiful butch lesbians by the dozens on my own - I know you people find it preposterous and a little outrageous but that's just how I roll

Travel / Fishing in Poland - where to go, what to catch? [81]

The bureaucrats will no doubt argue that's needed to protect the rights of the citizens, bla bla bla... does anyone actually believe it?

the simple thing is that Polish anglers (fishermen?) rarely release their catch as there is a tradition among them to consume what they catch (rarely on the spot of course) - after all Polish people are known of eating carp at Christmas time - do you think they will scorn a humble roach, a tasty eel or a noble pike - then there is angler's union who grow little fish and release them in various waters - most of the income they (the union) have (most probably all of it) is from licences - et voila

If he grants pardon again, it means that the re-conviction of both men was valid.

it's not the same thing as the first time Duda granted them pardon - Duda is going to begin a completely different procedure that has to involve ministry of justice (if I understood correctly - it however won't stop the opposition from claiming Duda admitted to making a mistake with the first time he gave Kamiński and Wąsik pardon)

At what point a tribe would say, Oh sh*it...let's think this crap through one more time...

if one day 100 per cent of women turn 100 per cent lesbian, there would be no other way of sustaing the human species other than through mass scale raping :P

News / Poland says no to flood of Immigrants [670]

That's one of the reasons we have a problem with gangs of local Dubli

it seems the Irish don't mind - otherwise they would vote for parties who would call for harsher treatment of criminals - or maybe the Irish people would call for the change in how the judges are created and would call for them to be elected like in many US states

Language / Short Polish<->English translations [1049]

o od naszej rodziny do Twojej rodziny.

od naszej rodziny dla Twojej rodziny (no 'o' at the begining, either)

na Was wszystkich swoimu

I guess this was just a typo, but it should read 'swoim'

Performing life saving procedure shouldn't require civil courage!

yeah - you need to get some courage to overcome unfounded fears, too

@Novichok
Rich I rememeber you have said you studied in Poland - did you work as an engineer in the US? (by engineer I mean the US equivalent of Polish 'inżynier' - I just actually don't know how Americans would call a person Polish people call 'inżynier')

..because if a man tells an off-color joke with a woman next to him he will be reported for sexual harassment or some other crap.

you are mixing American realities with those Polish: feminism hasn't got this far in Poland yet (now it's like the middle-of-90's America here)

Men "dominate" in coal mines, wars, as crane operators, car racing, bridge construction, hunting, rescue operations, on submarines, in engineering, as composers, inventors, and firemen

all valid points - I believe pawian is a dangerous feminist fanatic at this point

for fear of breaching the country's strict abortion laws

have you read the law - it's plain and simple they just didn't apply it - again ignorance, cowardice (or at least lack of civil courage) and disregard for human life - oh yeah, and if you read up on the exact case actual neglect

News / PiS` magic tricks - the first budget without deficit in Poland [39]

@pawian

if you don't understand what you are talking about, shut your mouth

@pawian

State revenues after August amounted to PLN 373.76 billion. At the same time, expenses exceeded PLN 390 billion

this only means that the budget deficit after August amounts to around 16 billion PLN - last year the deficit was singificantly lower amounting to about 12 billion PLN for the whole year but still the deficit is quite law

by comparison summed up budget deficit between 2008- 2015 amounted to 267 billion which means average yearly deficit was about 33 billion (with no social transfers to speak of (500+ programme costs the budget more than 20 billion yearly ))

there is not a figure in your quotation that presents the forecast and actual VAT income and no calculation indicating some kind of growing VAT evasion (the expert said simple arithmetics - why hasn't he shown it then) so you just have a word of your expert to convince yourself - I need figures

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

polish-hospital-refused-abortion-against-psychiatrists-advice-for-fear-of-prosecution

well ok, in my personal opinion perceived threats to the mental health of the mother should not be a possible reason for abortion but the Polish law just states 'threat to health' as a legal reason for abortion (and I'm pretty sure the term health is not defined in the Polish law anywhere)

The law regarding something as serious as this should be concise and not open to misinterpretation

and you think it isn't?

as far as I know the main piece of regulation on the subject is as simple and concise as follows:

article 4a of the Family planning, protection of human foetus and conditions on which aboriton is allowed Act (translation mine)

Przerwanie ciąży może być dokonane wyłącznie przez lekarza, w przypadku gdy:
1) ciąża stanowi zagrożenie dla życia lub zdrowia kobiety ciężarnej,

Termination of pregnancy can be performed exclusively by a doctor in these cases:

1. the pregnancy poses a threat to the life OR health of the pregnant woman

there were 3 other cases in the original act (the act was passed in 1993) of which (after the two separate Consitutional Court rulings only one of which was recent) only 1 other remains namely: when there is a valid suspicion that the pregnancy is a result of a prohibited act

I actually should have said 'ignorance of the law' instead of 'misinterpretation of the law' in my previous post - I know many people raised the issue of the recent Constitutional Court ruling on abortion law having a 'chilling' effect on doctors but in my personal view it's just ignorance on their part - ignorance, cowardice and disregard for human life (yeah I know these are strong words)

How many Polish women died in any given recent year because of the Polish abortion laws?

the opposition media would like you to think that there were at least two such cases - and both have been discussed here I believe - in my private opinion they were cases of misinterpreting the law, lack of civil courage and even downright neglect (I don't know the details about the latest one but I read quite a deal on the former)

What's an acceptable number of dead women/mothers - bearing in mind that the life of the unborn child is frequently lost on these occasions too.

if you believe in reincarnation no lives are lost in the incidents - I am not saying we should not strive to protect the physical lives of pregnant women and I am all for terminating pregnancies which endanger the life (or are a singificant threat to the physical health) of the woman (which is btw covered by the Polish abortion law - it should just be actively and consciously followed sometimes at the risk of erring on the side of protecting the mother's life and health)

other govs which meant foreign ones

sorry my bad, but you are nitpicking (as always)

The EU isn`t pressing on Poland to relocate immigrants. Stop lying.,

let's wait and see - there is a proposed mechanism for compulsory relocation (google it probably) - from what I can gather it went through the EU parliament already

News / Referendum to decide about exotic immigrants in Poland [559]

Can you see the stupidity of this question???

no - the question is not stupid if you take into account that if the question was answered as intended by PiS it would be a binding law (unless a new referendum on the topic is held) which would mean next governments would not be able to raise the retirement age just like that

News / Referendum to decide about exotic immigrants in Poland [559]

Also, do you think that PiS voters came up with the idea of taking part in the referendu

sure - they were influenced - but they were offered a choice to alter their reality - for example ban immigrant relocation from other EU countries (they could choose not to say NO) - they could also say yes to "Let's allow other governments to make us work longer" - they also could choose "Who cares about privatisation of state assets" - I myself share the views of PiS on all of these issues - and I am quite convinced that there are hundreds of thousands of voters who consciously share those views and chose to try to impose their views as binding by law - I said hundreds of thousands not millions because I'm not sure every single PiS voter consciously decided that the referendum answers promoted by PiS conform with their views - btw there were over a hundred thousand people (the attendence at the refferendum was a couple per cent higher than PiS result) more who voted in the referendum despite not voting for PiS - do you think these people acted as sheeple?

For prolonging it, of course. I would like to work as long as possible.

you can work as long as you want under current law as far as I know - retiring at 65 is not compulsory and many people choose to work longer - but if you wish other people should work as long as you plan to then you are a communist/fascist etc

An outer influence telling me to make up my own mind?? :)))

an outer source telling you you have an alternative to participating in the referendum

btw you may have not seen this (because I watched it on TVP and you probably don't watch TVP) but Tusk in one in his pre-election rallies said (or rather exclaimed) "I call off this referendum" - I don't know if or how much it was televised on other channels

again I may be wrong about you personally but I doubt all of those who boycotted the referendum came up with the idea on their own

judge them against what they think about the issue and agree?

what was your aim in boycotting the referendum and why was it the same as Paulina's?

take part or not take part - it's up to them.

if you don't recognize it as an outer influence then you should think about it some more

My main goal was to make the referendum non-binding as a sign of protest against PiS ulterior motives for making this

let's assume there was only one question there say about the retirement age - how would you vote? what would be your aim then?

You've clearly shown in your #350 comment that you're a hypocrite,

am I a hypocrite because I compare myself to a mass of same-minded people who boycotted the referendum? I never compared opposition voters to PiS voters (I will bark the words back if you find my comment like that) - so how am I a hypocrite

maybe I was wrong about yourself, Paulina and you reached the conclusion about the referendum entirely on your own (without any outer influence - although I doubt it) - however I have seen people advising other people about the boycott (on reddit, but I think I have seen it in other internet media too, I don't watch TV much) and I don't believe they have got the idea on their own
