I pretty much guess that PO wasn't only boring for you when Palikot used to lead a crusade against Lech Kaczyński

It shows how terrible dilemmas haunt Ziobro and his henchmen in PiS. They are hungry for power but perfectly realise that with the Saviour at the helm, they have no chance, ever.

At the same time they realise that without their charismatic leader, PiS led by Ziobro and others is gonna win only half the votes they usually get, i.e., about 15%.

I suppose Ziobro is thinking of taking the post of the chairman, keeping the Saviour as the honorary leader.

What does he count for? That the Saviour will voluntarily relinquish his grip on PiS and stand back, to let Ziobro be No 1?

what are you going to do if Poland ends up like Greece in near future tell me - and what is that can be done to avoid it here and now?

Let`s wait and see what happens. If PO flunks the job, I will admit solemnly that you were right.

If not, you will bark off your words like a lousy flea ridden dog under the table. OK?

PO is based on lies, manipulations, scaremongering and feeding an inferiority complex in the Polish nation,

Funny that I think the same about PiS!! :):):):)

It is a dreadful dilemma - in a sense, they're politically in no man's land. They're guaranteed 25-30% of the vote for simply showing up and spouting their usual nonsense, but the electoral mathematics means that PO/SLD/Palikot/PSL will just swap seats between them - keeping PiS firmly out of power. The other parties will never, ever deal with Kaczynski - and he won't deal with them, so really, what choice do they have?

What does he count for? That the Saviour will voluntarily relinquish his grip on PiS and stand back, to let Ziobro be No 1?

Not a chance in hell. Can anyone really see Kaczynski retiring from frontline politics without a massive fight?

This election proved one thing - Kaczynski is unelectable. But they can't win (sorry) with or without him. The only hope that they have right now is to depose Kaczynski, suffer the inevitable split that reduces their seats to around 20% - and then do a deal with PO to enter into a coalition with them. Can anyone see that happening?

But they can't win (sorry) with or without him.

At the uni 25 years ago I learned such a phrase - to be in a cleft stick. Is it still used and does it apply to the PiS dilemma?

bark off your words like a lousy flea ridden dog under the table.

Pawain, I read about a Polish nobleman who'd found that one of his serfs was using his surname and he punished him by ordering him do do just what you have suggested. Were you making a conscious allusion to this unique incident, or was this practice more widespread in historical Poland, and is this practice still current in Poland today?

It is a known Polish saying/idiom : odszczekać swoje słowa - to bark off your words, which means that after you have been caught lying, you must admit it. I wonder who is going to bark in a few years` time - me or gumishu. :):):):):)

That practice was widespread in historical Poland and is not current in Poland today.

No, it is just an anecdote. :):):):):):):) It happened only once, according to chronicles, in 1380. The rest is a myth. But it is so alive. Amazing.

and is not current in Poland today.

What a pity! The Saviour would have to learn how to bark! :):):):):)

A golden nugget:
I am one of the founders of PiS and it is hard to find anyone who spilled his blood as often for Law and Justice party - Zbigniew Ziobro, on eve of his political execution

Yesterday, at PiS meeting, he was refused the right to speak. That is why I think that certain PiS activist`s statement on the radio today was a much more precious pearl:

Reporter: Would you admit that Mr Cymański was right when he leaked to the press that PiS is ruled autocratically by its chairman?
Activist: No, of course, not. In PiS everybody has the right to speak freely about what he/she considers important.
Rep: Was that put into practice yesterday?
Act: No, I admit it wasn`t.
Rep: Why?
Act: Because yesterday was a special occasion, while I meant everyday situations.

:):):):):):):):):)

So, what exactly happened yesterday?
boletus 30 | 1,361
26 Oct 2011 #855
ecause yesterday was a special occasion, while I meant everyday situations.

I sense something familiar here. Wait, I get it: "Everyone is equal but some are more equal than others?" :-)

Today Arkadiusz Mularczyk was defending Ziobro but at the same time "he was not criticizing anyone," but only appealing to "younger party colleagues to reflect and to remember of the achievements of Ziobro." As I said before: PiS is fun to watch nowadays.
OP pawian 224 | 24,676
26 Oct 2011 #856
Ziobro was trying to promote Mularczyk to Sejm deputy marshall post. The Saviour and his men blocked Mularczyk and chose insipid brown-nosers as PiS parliament leaders instead.

Previously, whistle blowers in PiS were thrown out of the party. Will it happen this time, too?

I don`t think so. Ziobro is believed to have a few hooks/catches on the Saviour and if is sacked, he might reveal some secret info on PiS and its leader.

No, it isn`t.
But unpredictable PiS` case is funnier to discuss than boring PO`s, isn`t it? :):):):)

PO is only boring because you are not told what is really going on among them - this is my opinion - and there is going a lot - just media don't get access to that
OP pawian 224 | 24,676
26 Oct 2011 #860
Still funny - the media get access to what is going on in PiS but not in PO?

Actually, I know what is going on in PO because it is covered by independent media, in the same way as PiS tensions.

Gumishu, come on, I expect more honesty from you.

PS. Remember agent Tomek?

=pawian]PiS put forward a lot of famous candidates. One of them is a special undercover policeman called Agent Tom. With PiS in power, his task was to seduce influential female celebrities with his glamourous lifestyle and con them into corruption schemes.

See how he refuses to be interviewed by TVN station: Will you deny the fact that PiS is unpredictably funny? :):):):)

Isn't he the deputy chairman?

I don`t think so. Ziobro is believed to have a few hooks/catches on the Saviour and if is sacked, he might reveal some secret info on PiS and its leader.

I don't think it's a matter of hooks/catches, just a matter of Ziobro being popular enough within PiS (unlike the PJN guys) to split the party in half if he's thrown out. Whether or not Kaczynski is wise enough to realise this is another question.

See how he refuses to be interviewed by TVN station:

It's just laugh-a-minute with them at the minute.

Good remark.

Do we need to elaborate? :):):):):):):):)

But it was quite predictable - Ziobro was told to shut up.

The predictability of PiS is also an important element of its unpredictability. :):):)

Quite probable.

Looks like my prediction will come true - there will be a bitter battle for control of PiS. I know a couple of PiS supporters, and they're fed up (or more accurately, sick to death) with Kaczynski - many of them pointed out that Ziobro and his like were merely repeating what they thought the Saviour wanted to hear - rather than actually believing any of it.

Still, they have three long years to have a huge meltdown and sort themselves out.

the predictability of you and others such like you is unprecedented focus on PiS.
Lets remind for readers unfamiliar with political situation in Poland that PiS from 2007 is in opposition.
PO was in power for the last four years, and recently won Parliamentary election in Poland.
Still ruling party government and mainstream media are focused utterly and completely on opposition and not on opposition as whole but specifically on PiS.
Peculiar situation eh?

We should also remind unfamiliar readers that in Poland the better educated tend to vote for PO, whilst the less educated vote for PIS-as someone brilliantly demonstrated with a graph previously. And I take your point, it's quite sad that although Poland has a good government, the opposition is so abysmal and incompetent that it is not fulfilling its function of keeping the government to account.

As presented above its all about opposition which be what is maybe be is still an opposition.

At one point last year, the SLD were the effective opposition due to the utter incompetence of PiS. Ridiculous.

A pearl among the hogs:
"Ziobro can't back down now, Father Rydzyk does not like weaklings"
- a former PiS politician.
