Unlike in USA on Poland we have many political parties. We even had a freaking ' beer lovers' party.
Quite recently we had a party that was putting in their manifesto relaxing gun laws. Didn't go far. Combined with the fact that all the surveys show little support for such a change every sensible person has to admit it seems Poles simply don't want relaxing gun laws.

Why did Poland end up with the most restrictive abortion laws? Was there a referendum on this subject?

The protection of life is written into Constitution which was under referendum
