Ah, but it looks like this is a genitive of Luther ("Luther's") and not a separate, new word ("lutra").

derived from luter (Luther?)

It must be old... lol I've never heard it in my life...

. lol I've never heard it in my life...

So I can try to popularize 'lutra'? Maybe luter for the male equivalent?

lutra

pindolino

I like those.

The latter reminds me of "pindulko".

You may try, but all I can think of when I read this word is Martin Luther or a musical instrument (lutnia), so I'm not sure if it will catch on... :))

The latter reminds me of "pindulko".

It was actually supposed to be a wordplay on Pendolino - you know... that fast train... ;D

lol

@Paulina

Yes, I did get that right away, within a fraction of a second even. As pretty well anyone would.

Odd you'd think otherwise.

So your jejune meme is as redundant as your post.

It still reminds me of pindulka though, one of my favourite Polish words.

So I can try to popularize 'lutra'?

It's an OK one. To a speaker of very traditional English English it sounds potentially rude as well.

Oh, for God's sake, jon357... What is your effin problem... I'm starting to have really enough of your behaviour.

I decided to explain it in case you or someone else (the world doesn't revolve around you) didn't get it. It was a completely normal, neutral comment, the meme had nothing to do with you not understanding it or whatever, so there's no reason for you to be rude and assholish about it.

That doesn't accord with the meme or the comment, yet ne'er mind. Let's move on.

What is your effin problem... I'm starting to have really enough of your behaviour

Stay off the snark and it'll stay off you. I've always found that a good rule in life.

Much nicer to discuss rather than argue, and that is when the careful use of words does matter.

There are enough orc supporters and sundry trumpist MAGATs and other fascists to argue with without us doing it.

jon357 is a dog,

I'm actually a large and somewhat mangy black tomcat.

That doesn't accord with your daft meme or the tone of your comment.

It does, but I guess you've become so prejudiced against me that you interpreted my comment in the wrong way. That meme had the same meaning as the one in my earlier post at the end of my comment here:

https://polishforums.com/language/swear-words-139/41/#msg1927355

If you click on that meme I signed/titled it: "soembarrassing".

You could really loosen up.

Stay off the snark

There was nothing "snarky" about my comment. It was self-deprecating actually.

But you know what, I have enough of this. I'm not going to engage in any friendly or neutral exchanges with you anymore. From now on I'll just comment if I disagree with you or I won't like what you post - at least there will be no misunderstandings.

I guess you've become so

You are so sweet.

But you know what, I have enough of this

I've had.

Cats usually run away from dogs.
