I'm native Polish and I hate my own language.

Polish is ugly, doesn't sound good on the songs. All I hear is curses and messy shushing.

You are not the only one. Just try to read Polish threads here. Then the same posters in English and appreciate the difference.

Your English will never reach the level of your native language!

Polish is ugly

It has its beauty.

doesn't sound good on the songs

That bit's true. It's great for poetry though.

All I hear is curses

You need new friends.

Your English will never reach the level of your native language!

If "your" means mine, you don't know the level of my native language.
A tool does not need to be perfect - just good enough. Mine is good enough.

Polish is not the most sonorous language. We don't have many vowels, diphthongs, everything sounds boring and monotonous, at times, harsh etc. Never could sing any rock song, particularly progressive rock song in Polish. I'd say, it's a worst language ever on par with German. Hell, even German is better...

particularly progressive rock song in Polish

Why would you want to sing prog rock in any language?

hhhjkg & others,
You haven't then heard the "Warszawianka" sung. If you had, you wouldn't ignorantly bad mouth Polish. I've heard Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump over many years, yet I don't speak ill of the American English language, do I?

Are all German speakers, singers, notable actors etc. speaking as Hitler spoke, for example?
Your premise is silly!

ignorantly bad mouth Polish.

What kind of crap is that "ignorantly"? People "ignorantly" bad-mouth things they don't know. We know Polish so cut it out with that "ignorantly" - a clever way to imply that you are not "ignorant".

You're all only doing it for effect anyway and so who cares?

Please, don't ever try to teach me English.

It's a dirty job but someone's got to do it!

Certainly not a person who writes:

You're all only doing it for effect anyway and so who cares?

Back to "ignorantly". Who is "ignorant" of Polish here?

Rich/Greg, your ethnocentric comments indicate whom among us is ignorant of Polish.
Quit testing our patience!

indicate whom among us is ignorant of Polish.

You are getting worse by the minute, professor. "Whom"? Are you serious or just testing me? No, professor, it's "who among us is...", not "whom".

Do you know why? It's so because the answer is he, not him. For example: He among us is the tallest.

Getting too professorial with English is a very bad habit that leads to bad places.

Quit testing our patience!

If it was anyone more "neurotypical", I'd say it was simply a matter of someone who still believes (as many Poles do) that grammar is prescriptive rather than descriptive. In this case though, it's just plain mithering from a wazzock.

There's a lovely AmEng word that fits here: "ornery".

"ornery".

That goes with a lovely American proverb: Don't fu*ck with me and you shall be left alone.

In this case: don't tell me that my English is "poor" and then write "whom".

I know another one, not so nice-:) And "whom" IS correct in this instance.

12 Oct 2021   #22
No, it's not because the only acceptable answer is "he", not "him".

Wrong again! Direct object.

I tend to use it with prepositions only. Works well for me.

whom among us is ignorant of Polish.

Sure...Whom ... is. Right, professor. Him is ignorant. Him got it.

Evading the issue..again. Indicate whoM...

Said the master of evasion, including this very second.
So which one is it: He is ignorant or Him is ignorant?
Lyzko  41 | 9690
12 Oct 2021   #28
You missed "indicate"!
Novichok  5 | 8492
12 Oct 2021   #29
I missed nothing.
Which sentence is correct? He is ignorant. Or: Him is ignorant.
Lyzko  41 | 9690

..indicate who (or whoM) among us ..
