Life / Polish clothing - Polish folk costumes [28]

Like Beckski said, you are going to need to be a bit more specific... we can probably help you if you have a particular question, but if you think that we're going to do your homework for you, you have another think coming!!! :)

Meanwhile.... google is your friend.

Law / POLISH BEER IMPORT TO UK [37]

I would have thought that the major Polish brands were already in the UK, seeing as Tyskie is distributed by S&N and Zwyiec is distributed by Heiniken and Bosman is linked to Carlsberg.

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

Not annoying - just curious... why do lots of Polish firms give several telephone numbers e.g. For further information call +48 22 XXXXXXX, +48 22 XXXXXXX, +48 22 XXXXXXXX

Surely one will do, right?

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

That's interesting, though I have to say that is probably just a one-off. I don't get the impression that the people behind PY have too much of a clue as to how to market the event to British culture vulchers, even though a lot has been spent on creating the PY "brand".

Anyone going to this one in Saaaaafend?

Yes it is - in Warsaw and in Wrocław!

Yes, have heard of it.

Because you are involved "in the industry" (i.e. have Polish cultural connections) or from awareness in the British media? Just curious....

UK, Ireland / Polish Festivals/Exhibitions/Events in UK [91]

The term East/Eastern European slag off Polish people and shows pure ignorance.

Yes, yes... I was thinking the same, but figured that this was a discussion for a different thread. I have met ne of the organisers, and he basically seems quite well meaning (if a little misinformed). Let's see how this one goes.

Bletchley Park’s ninth annual Polish Day on Sunday 19 July ........

Yes, there are going to be quite a few Polish themed events and activities at Bletchley Park as part of the "Enigma Recaptured" campaign.

By the way, is anyone aware of Polska! Year? There seems to be lots of noise about it in certain Polish circles, though sadly it doesn't seem to be making it into the more mainstream British media... a shame given that (from what I can gather), the aim of it is to promote Polish cuture in the UK.

Yup, Polska! Year is in full swing.

If anyone is in London, check out the Wild Poland foundation's outdoor photography exhibition, which is on the Southbank, near Gabriel's Wharf - you can't miss it.

Some stunning photos - wolves, bears, bison...

See wildpoland.org for further details.

Law / Setting up small business in Poland? [191]

Surely the experience / skills / resources would determine the type of business that you set up. Also, I get the impression that you are not currently in Poland - have you even got the paperwork / visas etc. that you would need?

Life / If I could introduce something from my country into Poland, I would.... [175]

Cheery old people i.e. ones who dont scowl at you and demand respect just because they've managed to stay alive for 60 years.

Awww I find pensioners in Poland an absolute delight. I've had a few encounters with them, when they've stopped me in the park to chat about the weather, or admire my mate's baby.

g said this, I do miss weak 4% pints. It's just no fun going to the pub, drinking three half litres and finding oneself rather inebriated...

That's caught me out a few times - both in Poland, and in bars that serve Polish beer here in London... I'll never learn :D

if there is anything i can do to help you help the kids here just pm me.....i know lots of worthy causes here.....

Awww, once again... you are such a good egg.

My mum used to make boxes for kids in "Eastern Europe" with her work colleagues... I think that she might be doing it again this year, though I have to admit that I was always sceptical that the boxes ended up up being given to needy kids and that they always ended up in the wrong hands / stuff being sold on the black market. Can you please prove me wrong?

Life / Mobile phone companies in Poland [21]

Have a look on interfax.pl - there might be some telecoms data there. Or if you're feeling bold, you can always call them and tell that that you're a student etc. Just be gracious though - after all, they're not a charity.
