Law / POLISH BEER IMPORT TO UK [37]

I would have thought that the major Polish brands were already in the UK, seeing as Tyskie is distributed by S&N and Zwyiec is distributed by Heiniken and Bosman is linked to Carlsberg.

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

Not annoying - just curious... why do lots of Polish firms give several telephone numbers e.g. For further information call +48 22 XXXXXXX, +48 22 XXXXXXX, +48 22 XXXXXXXX

Surely one will do, right?

Life / If I could introduce something from my country into Poland, I would.... [175]

Cheery old people i.e. ones who dont scowl at you and demand respect just because they've managed to stay alive for 60 years.

Awww I find pensioners in Poland an absolute delight. I've had a few encounters with them, when they've stopped me in the park to chat about the weather, or admire my mate's baby.

g said this, I do miss weak 4% pints. It's just no fun going to the pub, drinking three half litres and finding oneself rather inebriated...

That's caught me out a few times - both in Poland, and in bars that serve Polish beer here in London... I'll never learn :D

Life / Orphanages in Poland [82]

if there is anything i can do to help you help the kids here just pm me.....i know lots of worthy causes here.....

Awww, once again... you are such a good egg.

My mum used to make boxes for kids in "Eastern Europe" with her work colleagues... I think that she might be doing it again this year, though I have to admit that I was always sceptical that the boxes ended up up being given to needy kids and that they always ended up in the wrong hands / stuff being sold on the black market. Can you please prove me wrong?

Food / Do Polish people really love cabbage ?? [78]

I guess so - it's been the ingredient of several dishes that I've eaten. However, it's prepared in such a way that it doesn't taste like school dinners :P

Off-Topic / What's your connection with Poland? Penpals. [554]

Am British - had never been to Poland until a few years ago.

Now, most of my business projects are in Poland and I travel there fairly frequently.

Life / 3 reasons why you hate Poland. [1049]

I hate the polish because they are beneath me. I hate poland because polish culture is inferior to western culture.

Copernicus, Chopin, Marie Curie... shall I go on?

No Immi, you really have surpassed yourself this time :D

my local Post Office here in London never delivers my parcels either

You are lucky to have a local post office... mine got closed down, and now I have a 40 min round-trip to the nearest one :(

Genealogy / Want to find a person [762]

Friends Reunited is usually the one that I check, as I'll have the school details too. Sometime the FR profile gives a few extra clues as to where to find a candidate online too. Gawd, I sound like a really sneaky cow, don't I?

Also, googling hotmail / yahoo accounts can sometimes to some interesting posts on forums :D

Or you apply for a job and have left a long trail of things you now wish were never posted.

Yup, when I am recruiting staff, the first thing that I do is google the candidate... check out facebook, bebo, friends reunited etc. Common sense stuff, really.

Travel / Collection of dress codes in Poland - what to wear? [96]

I so do... I've got it down to three dresses, but now I'm stressing about the accessories.... are evening gloves going to be too OTT? Will a fascinator look too naff? And then there's the shoes....

Trouble is that I'm only going for two days, so I opted not to pay for checked luggage on the flight. This means that I'm going to have to pack everything into my handluggage....eeeek!!!

Merged: Dress Codes in Poland (big corporate party) - help!

Been invited to a big corporate party in Poland - looking at the schedule for it, I guess you'd call it a ball.

What do I wear to something like this? Understated LBD or something more glam with loads of fake bling?

I'll probably be the only Brit there, and so I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb!
