Po polsku / Amerykańskie chamstwo? [133]

News / Polish rock band 'Decapitated' accused of kidnapping and raping woman [16]

Actually, reading the forum it seems Poland and Poles are just terrible - murderers, rapists and deadly sockets.
Strangely enough, terrible things happen all over the world. The excuse for posting certain things is that it is a Polish forum so it should be about Poland and Poles. I can understand it. But then again isn't there anything positive here? Why do some do nothing but complain?

Language / Instrumental case "To Jest " and "Jest" Need help with correcting my examples in Polish [17]

When only an adjective is used after być, you put it in the nominative case: On jest miły.
But if the adjective qualifies a noun both are put in the instrumental case: On jest miłym chłopakiem.
As for your examples:
Ona jest/nie jest ładna/piękna/gruba.
but
Ona jest/nie jest ładną/ piękną/ grubą dziewczyną.
On jest/nie jest miły/gruby/mądry.
But
On jest/nie jest miłym/grubym/miłym chłopakiem.
Similarly
Jestem/Nie jestem/jesteś/Nie jesteś miły/miła.
But
Jestem/Nie jestem/Jesteś/Nie jesteś miłą dziewczyną/miłym chłopakiem.

Gdzie jest + nominative
Gdzie jest Kasia/Tomek/kelner/księgowa.

UK, Ireland / British court lets violent Polish racists walk free [61]

jta.org/2017/09/05/news-opinion/world/british-couple-pleads-guilty-to-anti-semitic-attack-during-wedding-at-london-synagogue

According to this article they were British. That would explain their names:Ineta and Kasimiersz. These are not Polish names. Most probably of Polish origin but raised in the UK.

Antisemitism is on the rise everywhere, indeed.

UK, Ireland / British court lets violent Polish racists walk free [61]

@peterweg
Is Kasimiersz pronouncable?
Their clothing isn't British - seriously? Try visiting East London.
Poles or not, what they did should be condemned.

Still antisemitism is on the rise. In Poland but also in the UK with almost 800 reported incidents in the first half of the year. Now are you going to feel excused saying it was Poles who were responsible for all the incidents? After all, there are so many Poles in the UK ...

Work / Diary of a Teacher in Poland [181]

@johnny reb
One thing's for sure - the diary isn't interesting at all. It's not very credible either. I have read some of the entries and since some of my friends are teachers, I know some things don't add up.

@delphiandomine
Even if they said what you think they would, they would also think you're a loser ;)
But don't worry about that. No one is going to recognise you here. I doubt you're a teacher.
As for your claim that no one's interested in teachers' private life - have you heard of what happened to the teachers who supported the black protest on fb?

I personally think that's unfair but that proves it's not a regular job.

UK, Ireland / British court lets violent Polish racists walk free [61]

reddit/r/The_Donald/comments/6jt71f/racist_and_hateful_attack_on_polish_bus_driver_in

Any of you? Does he look British enough?
Medica, cura te ipsum ;)
Face the truth. There are British racists.

And it's not only Poles who are victims of British racists and xenophobes. There are whole compilations of British racist rants on YouTube. But the most important thing is that some immigrants and their children end up attacking Britain. If Brits are so understanding and welcoming, why do some decide to chop an innocent man's head off or get involved in any other terrorist attack?

Why do I even try to rationalise? There's no point really. Keep indulging in your hatred. Keep telling the Polish vermin to go home. Keep being hypocritical.

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

There was this Bambino ice cream, though - a distant memory of my early childhood.

Oops, I have just googled it and it turns out it was actually Calypso ice cream that I remember :S

History / Aurochs, the primitive prehistoric cattle of Europe, had lived in Poland? [48]

I have seen zubrons once in the natural reserve in Białowieża. I don't know but they looked kind of miserable ...
As for reviving the auruch, the first thing that comes to my mind is Heck. And when I think of Heck, I remember what he did to the Warsaw Zoo.

Perhaps, we should focus more on taking care of what we still have rather than playing with genetics.

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

I wonder what's the idea behind the logo, anyway.
No one thought it was racist then. Neither did anyone think they were too white to buy a product with such a logo.
I bet someone will 'illumunate' me soon.

History / MAP OF POLAND IN 1880'S [95]

Are you sure it's his birthplace? Is the document you have in Polish? There seem to be no results for Przywały.

Travel / Golabki in Mragowo - where to buy? [10]

restauracjasmakimazur.pl/menu

Smaki Mazur claim they serve some sort of fish gołąbki. Perhaps they have traditional ones, too.
I wouldn't tryb gołąbki in a jar. Pudliszki is a good brand but I can't imagine having gołąbki this way.

History / MAP OF POLAND IN 1880'S [95]

That's a possibility, too. I haven't found any place called Przywaly. It might be Przewaly any or other place with a similar name.

Anyway, it sounds like a village or small town and would rather be found on a map of a region rather than map of Poland.

I didn't know that. I only knew Calypso as that nymph who lured Oddyseus. Your version makes more sense :)

History / Aurochs, the primitive prehistoric cattle of Europe, had lived in Poland? [48]

Actually the last tarpan died in 1909 in a Russian zoo. The wild ones survived till the 1880s in Ukraine.
Konik polski and Przewalski horse are said to be similar to the tarpan. The same applies to Heck horse. I doubt the tarpan was successfully recreated, though.

Hopefully, we won't let aby more known animal species become extinct.

I don't know anyone who eats gołąbki from a jar. I haven't seen them in shops. Perhaps because I'm not looking.

History / Aurochs, the primitive prehistoric cattle of Europe, had lived in Poland? [48]

I visited the reserve last year and took a photo of the lynxes or the wildcats (not sure now). The sun was shining so it was only later that I realised one of them was licking its crotch as I was taking the pic ;) How surpising a wild animal wasn't posing for the photo ;)

They do have some nice animals there: bisons, deer, wild boars, elks etc.
When you're in Białowieża, it's also possible to get a guided tour to the parts of forest not normally available to the tourists. But it all depends on the weather. If it's raining, they don't take tourists to those parts of the forest.

History / Aurochs, the primitive prehistoric cattle of Europe, had lived in Poland? [48]

@Roger5
Actually that's what happened to us. We weren't allowed to go because it MIGHT rain. It wasn't even raining. The weather did suck and short rain caught us several times but we were disappointed that we didn't have a chance to go to the strict reserve. We spent only three days in Białowieża.

The trip cost 144 zł per group. The group could consist of up to 12 people. The price would depend on the number of people in the group.

Travel / Horror House in Warsaw [20]

A friend of mine lives in a house where several partisans were killed by the Gestapo. :S
Actually, in Warsaw there are lots of places where people were killed. Just like in many other places in Poland but the capital city witnesssed some horror for sure.

We didn't book it. We were just staying in Białowieża and looked for things we could do. The tourist information centre had the trips in their offer and it was the man there that told us we couldn't go.

Most of the locals didn't really seem to care about tourists. Just like the lady in Skansen Ziemi Ruskiej. We bought the tickets and she just let us wander around those old huts. It was great but I'm surpised she didn't worry we might damage something.

I kind of like such an attitude, though.
