News / Polish MP lives as a migrant in London earning £100 [21]

Just like the 15 million illegal Mexicans are doing here in the U.S.A.

What do you have against Mexicans? Yes some do abuse the system like everywhere else but overwhelming numbers don't.
I live here, they are hard working people, on very low wages.
When there is harvest time in California or wherever the Border dudes look the other way, because nobody would do such jobs as the Mexicans do.

Bringing the disease? What type? Because I am not aware of any, name one please.
Spanish teachers? I know Italian folks who are here for over 50+ years and they barely speak English.
Vote democrat ? I see no difference between the democrats vs republicans, they both failed, the last good president was Ronald Reagan.
Now I cannot tell apart democrat from republican. The good republicans are hunted like a dogs by politically correct population (Mass Media, Talk Shows, and even fellow Republicans)

I have heard how England is being stressed by 'foreigners for welfare' just like the U.S.A. costing the taxpayers a fortune.

looking for scapegoats? I pay taxes as well, and no Mexican ever bothered me.

Unfortunately it just one more nail in the coffin that has destroyed America.

You know, R. Nixon reestablished Chinese-American relations and Bill Clinton is the one who sold America.
remember 1998?

Headline from CNN

Clinton Defends China Trip, Engagement Policy

The two-way trade volume reached US$54.94 billion in 1998, a 12.1% increase over that of 1997. China's exports to the U.S. reached US$37.98 billion, an increase of 16.1%, while China's imports from the U.S. reached US$16.96 billion, an increase of 4.0%. China saw a favorable trade balance of US$21.02 billion in 1998. In the period from January to June 1999, China-U.S. bilateral trade volume totaled US$27.12 billion, increasing by 11.5% over that of the first half of 1998, with China's exports to the U.S. reaching US$18.11 billion, an increase of 8.4%, and China's imports from the U.S. US$9.00 billion.

china.org.cn/world/china_us_facts_2011/2011-07/08/content_22951212.htm

Remember? that was the beginning of America downfall. Just do the math.

And here is your nail in the coffin in 2000.

Clinton Signs China Trade Bill into Law.
the legislation ends the 20-year-old annual ritual of reviewing China's trade status and guarantees Chinese goods the same low-tariff access to the U.S. market as products from nearly every other nation.

abcnews.go.com/International/story?id=82426

Since then all factories moved from US to Asia. Blue collar workers unable to find jobs, there are rich and poor and very little in the middle.

US became service, financial & intellectual (like silicon valley for example) oriented economy.

So don't blame Mexicans or other immigrants for the present situation in America. US legal tender currency is worthless, being printed 24/7/365 faster than any newspaper.

And last but not least, Never heard of any Pole being on welfare in US, or more precisely, never came across one.

Can ALL posters stick to the topic please, this is about a Polish MP living as a migrant in London.

Language / Going to learn the Polish Genitive Case [28]

I may be corrected or learn the correct spelling from listening

I speak several languages, and in all cases, reading newspapers and books gave the best results, at least in my case.
If one have good photographic memory it works like a charm, Now all this must be mixed up with listening (any TV program will do) and force yourself to use new "variations of any given word in conversation(s)"

if you are corrected about pronunciation, so be it. The best way to learn, is the hard way.

Law / Giving notice that you are recording someone - Do they have this in Poland? [14]

- recording our own conversation is LEGAL. It doesn't matter weather the conversation is private or as part of work. So such recording can be used in a court and you don't have to warn anybody that you will be recording

You have no idea what kind of Pandora Box it means to/for me.
Sometimes you gotta to love to be wrong.
So I was duped....mhhh

Law / Giving notice that you are recording someone - Do they have this in Poland? [14]

You do not need anyone permission to record a conversation- as long as you are taking a part in that conversation

Wrong.
If that was the case, you wouldn't hear warning about recording conversation (for whatever reason) while calling to all sorts of customer services

Publicizing that conversation is a different story

Well here we are. Recording for personal references is one thing since nobody knows that you have the recording.
But once someone knows, like I personally had such case, I was threatened with all kinds of lawsuits in Poland if make it public.
It was one on one telephone and skype (with video) conversation(s)/conferences.
I cannot talk about details since it concerns public figures (actually legends in their own minds but nevertheless public in Poland)

Genealogy / Websites detailing marriage/birth records in Greater Poland ( 1880-1929)? [10]

It is a good start, but I doubt that everybody are listed. Didn't find my folks.
It is just impossible to make such "bank of records" since most births, deaths and marriages are only in church records.
To accomplish even 90% of records, one would need an army of volunteers, visiting all the towns, villages and combing trough records.
Another thing, before Poland regained independence many of those records/entries were/are in German language.

Language / Polish slang phrases - most popular. [606]

bimba=tramwaj=tram=straßenbahn
bimbus=bus=autobus (only in Mass Transiit)
bryczka=taxi=cab
drzusgawki=truskawki.
Dunno how to spell "drzusgawk"i, since it was/is only used in spoken language. But phonetically sounds right
Angryst=Angrest=gooseberries
świetojanki=porzeczki=currants
ryczka=taboret=stool (that you sit on)
wiara=group of people that are friends or known each other. Example, "Duzo wiary przyszło na impreze" =Lots of people showed up at the party.

biba=party=imprezka
bana=pociąg=train
gira=noga=leg
kejter=pies=dog
tytka=papierowa torba= shopping bag made from paper (usually small in size)
klamoty=I am aware of two meanings, But my mom family only used as useless stuff that is no longer needed and takes up space. But keeping just in case.

Rumpelsztos=graciarnia=mountain of useless stuff (including śmieci, (rubbish) like chocolate bars wrappings, empty boxes from UPS, anything) that not only take space and looks awful, one big mess. Example, "Clean up your rumpelsztos in your room or I will do it for you" .

And it has nothing to do with German 'Rumpelstilz"
Nygus=leniuch=lazy person, and "Nygusować".(present tense) Example, przestań nygusować i zabierz sie do roboty.
All of the above are only used in Poznań. At least years ago.
I can come up with few more, need to think first ;-)
So all those foreigners living in Poznań can grasp what is going on" Since the dictionaries are useless

Life / Internet providers In Poznan? [6]

Do you speak Polish?

if yes check this forum: forum.pcformat.pl/Dostawca-internetu-w-Poznaniu-t

If no, I cannot help you. Unless Google translator will be sufficient, but i doubt it.

also check this : inea.pl/dom/pakiety/3-pak/

You are in Poznan, talk to people, ask them. I'm sure that there are tons of gurus.

Actually I have better idea. Go to Old Square (Stary Rynek) which is loaded with wineries, cafes and other joints. Go inside and look for dudes around 20-25 listening to spotify or iTunes.

Sit by the table and say this.
"I will buy a beer for everyone, if you tell me what is the best combo provider in Poznań. Top speed internet, telephone and zillion channels in HD TV". I i guarantee it that you get your answers.

This way you solve the puzzle who is the best and maybe gain few friends.
Don't shop around providers, because each provider business is selling business and they will tell you fairy tails how good they really are, just to make a sale..

That's what I would do.

Law / Everybody in my family holds dual Poland and Germany citizenship and I'm not being granted a Polish? [4]

My dad and everybody else in my family holds dual citizenship with Poland and Germany. My mom only has Polish citizenship,

You have enough to become Polish citizen and provided with the Polish passport. (PESEL is relevant while getting passport)
I am in very same situation as you are. Your mother Birth Certificate should be sufficient, as it was in my case.

For some reason however, I'm not granted citizenship until I "proof" that my ancestors 3 generations back are Polish and I have to write about what they did in their lives. These go back to the 19th century,

Never heard of such law/requirements. Unless the politicians in PL flipped.
Change the Consulate, ask to be seen by vice-consul. (you have the right for such request) And arm yourself with Polish Birth Certificates.

Genealogy / Websites detailing marriage/birth records in Greater Poland ( 1880-1929)? [10]

I very much doubt that such website exist. Greater Poland = Wielkopolska, which was under Prussian rule in 1880>. You would have to know the party name, exact year but most importantly the location. What town, village.

With this info you would have to visit personally such town or village and dig for records hoping that the locals would be kind to you giving you their time. Most records would be in churches.

Study / Discrimination & humiliation of non-white students by Polish professor at Med Uni [18]

Discrimination on what basis?
Nationality? Gender? Religion? or the color of the skin?
Racism applies only to the last one.and in certain situation it applies to Ethnic origin, like Hitler despised Jews.

Examples of Racism
the racism that was the basis of apartheid
Hitler's declaration of his belief in a "master race" was an indication of the inherent racism of the Nazi movement.
The recording career of the Henderson band was brief ... due partly to the racism of booking agencies that didn't take on black acts until the mid-'30s, when Henderson's career was on the downswing

Love / Left Poland when young, did I leave half my heart? [7]

Consider renting your house instead of selling. Then you can easily come back.

I agree, that's is the best option for you.
I left Poland long ago, came back few times but I just don't see myself living in Poland. For some reason all is so different from what I remember growing up.

It is easy for me be to be a Polish patriot, but I just don't feel comfortable moving back for good.
So go there and test the waters, just go with the flow. See what happens. Beware of scammers

Life / Could Poland become an immigrant country? [42]

youtube.com/watch?v=_I0PoYjAgtE

This video is banned in the US :D
"The uploader (Al Jazeera) has not made this video available in your country
Sorry about that" :)
I see same trends from Polish Media uploading their videos on their flagship YT channels.
Watching this video I see not one bit of info that could corrupt an American mind.
I had to connect to VPN to see it.

Coming back to immigration coming to Poland it is more than certain that it will happen, not in 50 years but in 10+.
Very low fertility rate, with combination of Poles searching for opportunities elsewhere in EU or North America, it is plain mathematics that it will happen.

I know this for years that this scenario is coming to Poland.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

I was waiting for such reply. Catherine was self serving individual. For her, the power was more important than her own people. Actually she didn't care about her own people. Her legacy left to the Romanov was spark for the Bolshevik revolution..

Again, her allegiance was to herself, Not Austria, not Prussia and for sure not Poland.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

Probably a nationalist slogan although most blame Russian government because of the all Ukraine thing.

It ain't no nationalistic slogan, i heard this from my great-grandfather, it has roots from well before WW II

Times are always a changing - time to move on folks instead of dwelling on the past needlessly. Even the title of this post is disturbing, to say the least.

Times are always changing, but nobody can change 1.000 year old history. "Past is the part of my future"

In my opinion the word "hate" is not adequate. I see distrust, suspiciousness, From German side nobody trusted Hitler (to the lesser degree Otto Bismark)

Bur the Russians are champions in deception, so from Russian side there is whole bunch of propaganda dudes using treachery as their choice of weapons. All the treaties signed over the Centuries were almost always broken by the Russians.

Partitioning of Poland was Catherine idea, Catherine (the great) II of Russia with her personal advisor General Ivan Chernyshyov suggested to Friedrich Heinrich Ludwig (Heinrich) that Prussia and Russia annex/divide among them self's some Polish land,..

Austrian weren't so much interested at first. Finally when they did participate, it was only partition that flourished so to speak. Polish language was widely used, education was allowed. Contrary to Prussian section that the only good thing under Prussians was development.

And the Russians neglected all, language, education and the economic development.

Stalin who hated Poles with passion, starved millions of Ukrainians during holodomor famine genocide during 1932-1933. For some strange reason some Ukrainians have sentiments towards S.Bandera but forgot who starved them in millions. back in holodomor days.

I don't see any massive patriotic movement in Ukraine to defend it'self (I do not count extremists) presently.

The bottom line is, that there were less wars with Germany than Russia. In total 40 mostly smaller conflicts with Germans, apart of WW II which wan't small same as Battle with Teutons

To the 47 with Russians about half of them major conflicts.
If someone wants I can list them all.

My final words, I don't trust the Russians whatsoever. I can make a deal (any deal) with Germans but will read the fine print hundred times before signing

Food / Was Slonina (Lard) originally extracted from Elephant meat? [17]

`usoljeno` and `slano`

"Salty and salted"

But @Marysienka wins the argument;
Salted meat, cured with the salt to be exact - that then becomes eventually the słonina. Easy to keep in warm temperatures.
Same technique used with the fish and the cabbage > sauerkraut and many other products.

Long ago we had no friges so folks had to find other ways to "fix" the food for longer keeping.
Lard=Smalec > pure smalec, fat only just as the lard is.

Elephant is irrelevant in this whole argument.

Work / Is it a good sign if a school seems desperate to hire me? Small town Kęty [15]

Is it possible for you guys to give me some advice for living in a small town? Especially since I am an African American.

Very good question.

Just be yourself, smile a lot, try to greet people on the street (you being the initiator) like How are you, how is your day, nice weather today basically simple pleasantries.

(Make a list in Polish lingo)
People in small town(s) in 99% white Poland might look strange at you at first, like being on exhibition.
Don't find this kind of behavior as aggressive, thus the reason to make preemptive strike by being polite, and spreading "Howdy" all over the place :-)

If you understand well Polish and/or feel like someone is talking about you in negative way ( racial or in whatever form) just ignore it and pretend to be deaf.

With time you will win their hearts.

Good luck

Travel / DRIVING - CB RADIOS AND THE "PSY" aka - COPS - in Poland [12]

Interesting, CB radios are on decline in the US but a hit in Poland.

What I do (and I usually obey traffic laws) is either using smartphone app(s), that tells all about light and speed cameras locations, position of state troopers (yes trooper/police car is emitting by GPS his position which is/are intercepted)

But the best trick is spray, for license plate. it creates glossy cover and during snapshot all what camera is getting is the reflection, no numbers/letters, no crime :D

Must be sprayed every 3 days , more often if the is a rain or one goes to car wash. Works like a charm :-)

The only problem is with helicopters that calculate speed by how fast the vehicle is passing the middle 5 meters long white lines between the lanes.

News / Poland's demographic, migration & fertility rate disaster [20]

I have made a video for YT about 6-7 years ago, pointing this problem out, Very low fertility rate in Poland and consequences for the future.

That Poland will run out of work force, with 1.3 (at that time I think) fertility rate..minimum is 2.1-2.2

All comments were negative, like "paranoid dude", "not here in Poland"
Comments about wrong background music (Tchaikovsky and Wagner) why didn't I pick polish composer or band etc, etc.
Finally the video was flagged and taken down... I still have the project file, I could change few things here and there (update to current times) and re-upload.

mhhh I think I will go for it.

UK, Ireland / Why are Brits so left-wing? [60]

This has nothing to do with the title of this thread, please keep to the topic

With respect I strongly disagree,
Various events in human life either personal, casual, professional, religious are shaping human mind views. this includes political views.
Thus some are on the left some on the right and some are in the middle (center) spectrum of political scene.
The question in OP was "WHY" to explain why.. one must analyse all possible influences on WHY? That includes racial harmony, state of economy, education, social benefits (in this case UK)

and the way regular lad(s) feels about it.

My comment on immigrant from Malta is in-directly connected with the UK as main member and policy maker in the EU as they have the most votes.

Thus lefties policies of one government in EU with majority votes as a result is echoed in another country in the form of immigration (in this case Poland)

But as a respect to our moderator wishes here I will be very careful phrasing my comments in the future.
So they (the mods) can see the visible "link" in my comments to any topic that we are discussing here on the Forum (in particular thread, that is)

UK, Ireland / Why are Brits so left-wing? [60]

(do you really need to post links to race hate sites)

I said Far East-Asian gangs.

What do you mean I post "race hate sites"? who decides which one is racist and which ain't

For example forum as on storm front is racial, but it is their right to express their opinion.
Nobody forces anyone to read them. I do because I want to know how they think

One needs to take look at the problem from any possible angle
Plus I do travel to the UK extensively and see what is going on there on my own eyes.
And I don't see any racial harmony there.

Here in US for some reason it works, (for now anyway)

One time in the pub while with my English m8's nursing beer, some their friends approached us we all exchanged high fives and I was introduced as a Yank, Well I correct them that I am really Pole,

They bursted out in laughter, saying "That's the good one"
F****k polacks, like roaches.. I stood up and told them that i am really a Pole, they were confused but left us alone.
Were they racists? We were all white..
And religion ain't no race.

Also I have read on some Polish Forum an outrage that Poland will accept refuges from Malta who arrived there from Africa..
{EU quota for immigrant distribution)
There was an outrage that the State will accommodate them at Poles expense.
The more it will happen the more far-far-far right Poland will become. Especially jobless young people with no hope of future.
Not everyone can have University degree,

In the UK, the term Asian isn't really used for people from the Far East

Yes, so convenient excuse. How do they call them? Far East-Asian gangs? Chinese triads?

And enter this term in google search "Rapes in Sweden" UK is still behind Sweden in raping department.

Gangs of Asians men

"Asian gang" is Politically Correct term.
They put all Asians to one basket... Never seen Chinese, Filipino, Thai, former Indochina countries Burmese, Nepali, Hindus, etc having raping gangs or pimping young girls in UK..

Most of them are Muslims, mainly Pakistanis, Somalis (not Pakis, this is P-Incorrect and Racist term)

Gerries, krauts, Gooks, Polacks is OK

Life / Rules of Etiquette in Poland [22]

For example in China people bow

None of it in Poland.
As a new employee, and let me stress "new"

Don't show the boss (or anyone above you) that you are smarter and/ have better solutions.
Unless you have extraordinary diplomatic skills.
Poles tend to believe that they know best

Don't flirt in the workplace.
That goes for any country..

Be on time.

Avoid gossip about co-workers.

After 6 + months when you figure out who is who, you might bend/adjust those rules.
