Law / Which is the best city in Poland to open a kebab shop? [56]

Kebab is a very unhealthy food. One contains 140g of fat and is high in trans fat, which raises cholesterol levels. Also instead of the hand-carved rotating roast kebab shops across Europe are using minced-up cuts of indeterminate meat swimming in grease. No better that an average fast food grub.

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [40]

, Nile, and Tlum, stop being basement dwelling racist virgins and go outside for once.

GO OUTSIDE? Are you mad? That would be rather difficult for a virgin. Hiding in a basement it is what we are good at. Would you care to sent us some willing and beautiful women to the basement to cure our racism?

History / Jaruzelski vs Pinochet [120]

That is a good one! (but idealistic mostly means stupid) :):):)

You are calling men who refused to become traitors on a pain of death and stayed true to their principles - stupid. I disagree, I think they weren't stupid they were doing their duty and serving interest of their country(all citizens) by refusing to be cowed. What you call pragmatic I call cowardice there is nothing pragmatic in being a traitor.

Pragmatism is an action or policy dictated by consideration of the immediate practical consequences rather than by theory or dogma. I understand that people who are thinking mainly about themselves would rather say they are pragmatic than egoistical but it doesn't fit the description. Egoism is excessive preoccupation with one's own well-being and interests, usually accompanied by an inflated sense of self-importance. Such egoistic person in a face of danger can cowardly chose to be disloyal to his or her own nation. Pretending that it has anything to do with pragmatism is a lie.

Mature men fully understand what is at stake and often they have children and family. Whereas 20 years old are a lot more idealistic.

Only after you show me you make such a choice I will believe you are not another paper hero who cries out loud about principles...

Those others who faced such a choice, those who were buried in mass grave. You should compare him to them not to me. Your argument is poorly and personal.

I think your cynicism is clouding your judgement but that is your problem not mine.

I have already learnt that people who cry out about principles are the first to break them when bad times come.

Who "cry out" about principles? You are not making much sense. I'm talking people with principles not hypocrites or cowards.
You are cynical but this is your problem.

For example?

Others who refused being taught got a bullet in the back of their heads and were buried in mass graves.

Are you another brave hero who is tough before his/her computer????? :):):)

I edited my post.
If you are not able to live according to principles, that is your problem. Don't try and second guess other people.

Actually, he had no choice.

Not true, he had a choice.

I am not making strict judgements on his choices during the war due to extremely complicated circumstances he found himself in.

You are pretending to be a philosopher but clearly you are not.

Others who refused being taught got a bullet in the back of their heads and were buried in mass graves.

So, according to you his choices are commendable.

There is also indirect discrimination, that is to say situations in which women have equality before the law, but not in practice.

You mean to say that the world is not a perfect place? I agree there are many inadequacies, unjustifiable inequalities between people. Young and old, rich and poor, from the third world and from the first world. What are you going to do about that?

To deal with such problems, feminists advocate policies aimed at leading to a fairer society.

I seriously doubt that approach pursued by feminists is leading to a fairer society.

I cannot see how we men can legitimately complain.

Yes because life is such a bundle of unperturbed joy for an average male that being blamed for all the problems of the world by some lasses brings in so much needed bitter tang to a sweet and happy male life.

That bias may be the focus of feminists in the West,

We are not debating Bangladeshi slums.

Erm... In what way am I sidetracking?

Unless you are living in a country which refuses women the right to vote you are sidetracking.

Using such expression like "feminism" as a synonymous of equal rights can only a person lacking intelligence or common sense.
Feminism basically is an approach to social life, philosophy and ethics that commits itself to correcting alleged biases perceived as aimed at the subordination of women. Basically feminists view society as a gender biased against women. Consequently their actions are aimed on fighting against that alleged bias. What if such bias exists only in the theory?

"A particular target of much feminist epistemology is a conception of rationality, which is seen as a device for claiming mastery and control."

The right to vote in elections, to be a candidate in elections, to work, to drive a car, to study both at school and at univeristy, to not be aborted during pregnancy because one is a female etc. etc. etc

All those rights you mentioned are are not threatened.

I want to have equal rights with everybody,

Could you explain your understanding of the expression "equal rights" in the light of male versus female context?

The fear of female opinion this reveals is a testament to the power exerted by women over the whole of society

A society is not divided into two parts according to gender.

It depends what you mean by 'equal in the eyes of the law'.

Women who choose to have children shouldn't be forced or willing to work or to pursuit career. I see maternity leave as a privilege granted to women due to biological and psychological differences between genders.

I do not begrudge women their privilege but I'm pointing out that women are not treated badly in a society.
In reality society is not divided on men and women but on families and singles, wise and dumb, good and bad, educated and uneducated, rich and poor and those in-between.There are many inequalities in society which cannot be cured by the courts, women are not a perpetual victims or an underdog of society.

Dichotomy between sexes is artificial, created by the faulty political system which is exploiting natural differences in society to its advantage. In this light feminism is noting else but a redundant gnarl on society aiming at empowering few to rule over people using concept of the gender struggle. That concept have been derived from an old Marxist idea called the class struggle.

Once you accept the principle that feminism is about creating social equality rather than equality in legal rights, I think you will look differently at most of what feminism has achieved, and still wants to achieve.

I do not believe that something what is in fact an idea leading to totalitarianism would be beneficial to the society.
