UK, Ireland / Do Poles in the UK pretend to be uppity because they have an inferiority complex? [60]

Citizen67, your written English is not as good as you might have thought.
The points she was making were very clear despite not being a native speaker of English.
Your accusations about her standard of English are rather insulting as are your posts in general.
Maybe you should use a spell-checker yourself...

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

So the prices started falling in 2007? and there was me thinking the Financial crash was in 2008? I never realised prices dropped the year before.

I think that the graph shows that prices starting falling around March/April 2008 (when the line crosses the '0' line).
Before then the downward turn just shows the prices were still increasing at a lower rate (ie: from +50% down to +1% increase).
I'm no expert, but that's what I'm reading from the chart.

UK, Ireland / What does English sound like to the Poles? [30]

Sorry to say but most Polish/Slavic/Russian languages sounds "ugly".

That's just your opinion. Personally , I love the language and the accents.

then again anything would be better than dole scum english

UK, Ireland / Polish women that go "off the rails" in London [15]

She is hard-faced, cynical, conflict-prone, selfish and dishonest to the point of where she cheated. We are not together, she moved out.

So your relationship didn't work out. It happens in life. Keep your chin up, forget about her and move on. Plenty more fish in the sea :)

Language / When is speaking Polish showing off and when is it ok? [46]

Also, there are some people in Poland (and other countries), who no matter how well you speak Polish, will continue to try and talk back in broken English.

+1
This seems pretty close to my experience both in Poland and England.
I think most people just want to practice their English with a native speaker tbh. In a small town they don't often get the opportunity. But, yh, you're right about the showing-off part. I've met them too...

Australia / Poles invaded the wrong Anglo-Saxon country [29]

Bad for bigots.

Worse for bigots.

LOL :)
Des, I'd be quite happy for all the Europeans and Asians to 'go home' and let the Moaris have their country back. I never said NZ should be white.

I love the All Blacks, best rugby union team in the world for my money :)

Australia / Poles invaded the wrong Anglo-Saxon country [29]

It is like living in a united nations country, nothing like anything else.

I didn't realise it was quite that bad. I remember being in NZ maybe 10 years ago now. All the locals were getting pretty fed up with all the Asian immigrants. Auckland is now about 25% Asian and it's only going to get worse...

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

A little lady, sick to the back teeth of hundreds of Poles in her neighbourhood asked him 'why there were so many of them here'?

Well she was an ignorant bigot (personally, I would have punched her in the face). And that's the only occasion I ever felt any respect for the ex-PM.

Also, he was never elected PM. He was a back-door job as everyone knows.
Anyway Oxon what's with the dodgy spelling? Are you an American or just illiterate?
It looks like whether the UK is part of the EU or EEA they won't be able to stop EU migrants coming to work here. And what's wrong with that?

They work harder than most Brit's, are usually better educated and don't sit around in mosques all day, claiming benefits and planning to blow up our subways...

Australia / Poles invaded the wrong Anglo-Saxon country [29]

Holy sh!t, I think *I* am going to immigrate to Australia! Those kangaroos are stuffed with gold!

I read somewhere that the average wage for the mining industry was around 100k Aus dollars. This salary far exceeds even IT specialists and uni professors.

However, Sydney is the most expensive city in the world to live in... hence the the salary has to be high. Still, there's a lot of money to be made in Oz, I should know...

Good luck to any Pole who wants to work there. It should suit them; healthy lifestyle, good diet and a strong emphasis on sports and recreation.

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

But Poles would still emigrate to Germany and the US. The destination would change but nothing else. The UK isn't the only country in the world and so leaving the EU wouldn't have the effects that you so desire.

And as far as the re-population issue... I've already offered my services on this forum on at least one occasion... ;) The offer still stands ;)

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

Pawian, do not worry. This is but a rhetorical question. It will never materialise. The UK will NOT leave the EU.
Yes, there are idiots who buy into the media propaganda but it's just a few million chavs who can't see the big picture.

I'm more worried about what I would do if the UK were to leave the EU! Getting married to an EU citizen would certainly be high on my priority list, lol :)

I have an EU passport, whether it's affiliated to the UK or not is not important to me. But, I'm determined to keep it:) I'll swap it for a Pole's if they so wish...

Seriously, Poles are safe in the UK and I'm quite safe here.
Nothing's going to happen... :D

Language / When is speaking Polish showing off and when is it ok? [46]

Edited

Back on topic, I would say that learning foreign languages (especially Polish) was the smartest move I ever made. Speaking Polish to a Pole can never be considered 'showing-off'. I've had to use it to communicate more effectively with people from Czech, Slovakia, Lithuania and Ukraine in the past. It is often used as a 'lingua-franca' in the UK for many central European migrant workers...

UK, Ireland / Why are Brits so left-wing? [60]

Why are Brits so left-wing?

We're not. That's the short answer.

Most British people I've spoken to are pretty left-wing politically. They all seem to be pro-gay rights, pro diversity, non-religious and extremely proud of their country being multicultural.

None of the above are anything to be ashamed of. Yes, we do have racists and homophobes but they're a minority.

Right-wing Brits don't seem to exist, at least not in the American sense. By American standards Brits are as socialist as they come.

Right wingers in the American sense doesn't exist anywhere outside the USA. Deal with it.

Quite right Zetigrek. Americans have a shock when the get first hand experience of the real world...

When I visited the UK I thought I'd like it, but I found the political correctness oppressive.

That's rich coming from a Yank. We say the same things about you guys... lol

The UK technically has a "Conservative" party, but I think its an insult to conservative ideology for them to be called conservative. The Conservative party in the UK is slightly to the left of Obama.

Both the Conservative (Tories) and Liberal Party (Whigs) were around long before the USA existed. Conservatism in the US can be considered radicalism to others...

And as for the British "Labour Party", I don't think any party like that would ever win an election in America.

I don't think either the Republicans or Democrats would win an election in the rest of the civilised world. Unless ofc, you have to rig the elections like you did in Florida a few years back George 'W'...

In short, I would rather have a right-wing conservative or a socialist Labour government in the UK than some idiot like 'Dubbya'.
Get a grip on gun control, gay rights, abortion, the death penalty and a million other issues and then come on a forum and slag off another country for being modern, civilised and liberal. Or 'Left-wing' as you call it...

Love / What to answer to the Most annoying phrase that EVERY and EACH polish girl always says? [58]

hahahaha damn true! but I've heard some other annoying phrases: 'Life is brutal/cruel' but yeah 90% do say that their English is bad

Yes, "Life is brutal" is my pet hate. Whoever taught this to Polish people needs a good beating IMHO... I don't know why, but it drives me crazy! I hate this saying! lol :)

I am very sorry for my English. It is so bad and full of mistakes, please excuse me.

The best response is just to tell the girl that she speaks English very well (even if she doesn't), then say to her (preferably in Polish) that if she would prefer it, that you can talk to her in Polish...

Better still, why not speak to her in Polish first and then you can apologise for how bad your Polish is (even though it's "perfect")?

Work / Finding work in Warsaw / Poland as an English private tutor [63]

"neither can an american" - Humor with irony, all in one pithy little sentence!

Actually, don't joke about that! Have you ever heard a Polish teacher try to teach English?
Those that learnt American English.... omfg! It's not funny. They should sue their teachers...
Imagine if I was teaching Polish in England, except I'd learnt Czech and tried to pass that on as Polish....
If you can understand that then you'll realise why the poster posted that comment...

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

simple advise , ,,, date a woman of your nationality or higher

Simple advise... You are a loser. I'll send you a spoon so that you can literally eat my 4ss. ok?
If Polish girls take your money and leave you then that is your failing as a potential suitor.
They obviously have found someone better than you. And leave you you as soon as they can.
Are you now bankrupt? ha ha ha:D

I'm living here. I meet lots of women every day. I have no complaints... Very nice friendly girls... good friends too:D

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

MONEY can buy love.

Money can buy sex but not love. Maybe this is where you guys are going wrong...

Look at Silvio Berlusconi and Hugh Hefner ;)

And Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, David Beckham....
So some women are attracted to fame, wealth, status and power. Nothing new there.

This is not only your experience, but everyone's experience unfortunately :(

No. This is the experience of losers who think that they can buy love.
I'm sorry but you can't buy a girlfriend like she's an iPod.
If they took you for a ride then that says more about you guys then these girls.
If you're only asset was money and you had nothing else to attract her then that's your fault, not hers.

Love / Observations and experiences so far about Polish women [93]

TommyG there is no snow in Poland now... you are not in Poland.

Yes, there is. Well in my town there is :P Yes, I am definitely in Poland. You can ask admin to confirm my location (country but not city please admin :) ). I've been here nearly five months now.

on the other hand, it's true that polish women took cheating to a whole new level of ART

No, it's not true. Men and women both cheat, that's life! Deal with it (and cry more)...

Have you ever been to Poland.

Yes. I work here. And I was twice here previously on holidays.

TommyG, you have never been in Poland.

lol:D Next you'll being telling me that it's fake snow outside my window...

and of course he loves slagging off the UK now, typical expat behavior

But I did that whilst living in the UK. Why the heck do you think I left?

He's only been in Poland 5 minutes and already it's a "paradise" lol

Is that such a crime? I like the people better here :)

Lol! Pantsless. I made a promise to someone and I'm not going to break that promise. That's all I'm going to say about that...

I don't feel threatened at all. Your 'half-assed' game is your business. I couldn't care less.
Don't forget that in 8 months you gotta kiss my ass. You said you would. In fact, if you can't wait that long, you can kiss it right now... :D

Ideas welcomed!

You need to ask the experts here mate. I'm just a noob!
I've had some very good advice and some bad advice.
The only way that you will know if you can succeed is if you come here and try for yourself.
Start by picking up the phone and calling some schools. That's what I did...

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

Examples are the amount of money i spent on her,im not a tight person with money but i ended up buying for her a new laptop, watch, clothes, shoes, paying for all our nights out

Polish women aren't that bad. Usually they go 'Dutch'.
It looks like you and your mate were trying to buy love. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that.
If these women liked and respected you they wouldn't have taken a penny.
It looks like they saw you coming...
Money can't buy love. Live and learn...

Love / Should I forgive my cheating Polish girlfriend? [73]

Should I consider forgiving her and try again? Or am an idiot for even considering it?

I'm sorry but you are an

idiot for even considering it

And you know it. Those were your words.
Without trust and honesty there is no relationship. How can you trust her again?
Polish or not, you should never continue a relationship with someone who has cheated on you.
I never cheat on anyone and wouldn't stay with any girl that did it to me.
It happened to me a couple of times with English girls when I was much younger. That's just women for you.
Remember the good times, smile and move on... life's too short.
Good luck! :)

Love / Observations and experiences so far about Polish women [93]

OMG, all the unnecessary b1tching about Polish women. Polish women are just like any other woman.
Except.. they are prettier, better educated, healthier with slim physiques and VGSOH :)

White estate trash.

I wouldn't use that expression to define Polish women. Even if they are 'poorer' they don't act like the scum that you find in certain other countries.

There's a lot of white trash in the UK and the US and a lot more countries too I dare say.

Polish guys get cheated on ALL OF THE TIME.

So do many other guys. Women lie and cheat, that's quite common. And guess what? Guys do too.

Then he goes very angry but not on Ania or Marcin, but on the person pointing them the truth

No. Normally he batters Marcin to a pulp.

This thread makes me afraid of the women I am about to face.

Are you joking? Don't listen to all the haters they probably just got dumped for someone better.
Polish women are very friendly. They make very good mates as well as girlfriends. Most of my friends are Polish women :)

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Poland is Central European country.I don't care if someone's calling Poland Eastern Europe as much as other posters here but it's simply not right. We are not Western or Eastern European country.Poland is mixture of these cultures. When someone refers to Eastern Europe it usually has derogatory hint in it

I agree totally...
The gutter press in the UK (and the morons that read it) will always refer to 'Eastern European' countries/migrants etc in a derogatory way. They use these label to refer to any or all Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Lithuanian migrants. They do this to imply some sort of inferiority. This is rather stupid as the average British journalist knows sweet f all about about other EU countries.

Just nationalistic, xenophobic idiots writing trash for the uneducated masses in the UK...
Let's just refer to Poland as a Central European country and have done with it.

Life / Advocating euthanasia routinely causes scandals in Poland... [63]

Personally, I accept euthaniasia - for me, it is a way to ease the suffering of old people.

Although I would agree with the legalisation of euthanasia one has to be very careful on this subject.
It is interesting that he mentions Alzheimers disease. I recently lost an elderly relative who had been suffering from that condition. In the end she succumbed to a stroke, and passed a week later. At no point would anyone have considered something like 'euthanasia'. That's just unthinkable. Her husband died several years previously to cancer. In both cases the diseases had a slow and gradual affect on my relatives but quickly become very severe.

I think that euthanasia shouldn't be thought of as 'putting elderly people (sick or otherwise) 'out of their misery'. Perhaps it can be used in cases when a relative is suffering from a permanent 'vegetative state'. But then again, it's not their choice, and be seen as murder. There is a big difference between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. Considering how many people suffer from depression and consider killing themselves these days I'm not so sure that this would be such a great idea. There are still countries where euthanasia is legal and people can still go to those countries if they wish to voluntarily end their lives...

I have no hindu or muslim blood in me:P

Yes it was. Well done. And what? It's a 100% true fact. I'm sorry if you misinterpreted what I wrote.

i can assure you i am not 'crying' i just find you pathetic.

Yes, you are. And I find you pathetic too:P

i bet you went to poland looking for a shag from some girl whose level of language and cultural awareness

What the hell does that mean? Are you trying to imply that Polish women are somehow inferior? It looks like you're the racist.
I came here to work and I am very satisfied with all aspects of life here:)

i met plenty of english guys like you in poland, trust me.

Your sex life is of no interest to me. And you haven't actually 'met' me have you?

The topic is turning personal. Please try to keep on track. Thank you.

i am not the one who thinks 'muslim' and 'hindu' are nationalities

And neither am I. I never said that they were. Are you silly?

i simply have a caps key that doesn't work

I never use the caps lock. I always use the 'shift key'. It's the button just below the caps lock...

and being so rude and racist to kaz when she said she was proud to be british was not called for.

Obviously you didn't read her unprovoked personal attack on me. Both you and her attacked me first and now you cry when I defend myself. Typical...

I'm quite capable of owning a couple of pathetic little trolls.
