Love / Polish couples living out of wedlock? [108]

What do you think of Polish couples living in sin, bringing out-of-wedlock babies into the world and not even bothering to baptise them? Why do you think so?

Because that's the way they want it?I wouldn't baptise my child as well.

Love / Polish couples living out of wedlock? [108]

The truth was that the kid was rejected because the parents were not married.

That's piece of...something smelly.Do you really want us to believe that public school refused a child because his/her parents weren't married? When was that?In 1925?

I want to add that my family has beed working in schools for last 4 decades.

A state-funded school in Warsaw Poland did that exact thing.

State founded-maybe.Private shools get money from government. If you meant PUBLIC school I still don't believe that.ESPECIALLY in Warsaw. If you told me it was somewhere in small village I might have believed you but Warsaw? Are you serious?

I said a couple of years ago but now I think about it more, it would have been more like four or five years ago (time flies).

I was in elemantary school a long time ago and in my school were children of inmarried couples.

Great: ask them how St. Dominik Savio in Lubin survives given that it charges the parents nothing and according to Magda gets nothing from the state either.

Private schools get subventions from government.Besides maybe there're sponsors?
Either way it has nothing to do with the story you told.

Travel / Going to Poland and looking for some antiques [24]

It is the same crap over and over again. Poles can do what they want in any foreign country but if it were the reverse then Poles are up in arms.

Actually you're doing it.I told you I have nothing agaist it if it was LEGAL.

Ever been to the Kolo market? I have. It is full of foreign items. How did they get there? don't answer because I already know.

If Poles brought them here ILLEGALY I'M NOT OK WITH THAT.
All I'm arguing is that it should be done in the proper way.

Actually I would. And this is about something else-we have so little antiques left that we choose to control it.It's our right. As well as other countries have the right to make their laws.

News / €80 billion for Poland new EU budget [166]

Just in my area:
Big company with world-wide contracts-sold to Swedes. a couple of years ago.Still exists but the company that bought it has financial problems and we don't know what's going to happen-the biggest employer in the region.

Sugar factory-bought by German company and closed as soon as they could. They just got rid of their competition.
Dairy bought by German company and we don't know what's going to happen. For now all our local products have vanished from shops.

And this is just ONE town and not all companies,
I don't want to say that it's UE fault but don't tell me that there was no industry in Poland.

Having world-wide contracts means ' nada '

Actually it means they have very good position on the market. The problem started when the Swedes took part in another project in Poland and it failed. It was their right of course since it was their company but now many ppl don't know what's going to happen. And if that company is going to bunkrupt my region is going to hurt badly.

Life / did/does Polish TV show any British Sitcoms? [35]

I thought he meant on the main channels that are free to air, not cable or subscription.

I never fought of this.

I would have thought ridiculing priests would have been frowned upon by the 'establishment'. Am I wrong in thinking that?

One word:Ranczo :)
Benny Hill and Mr Been-I never understood what's so funny.

Love / Polish couples living out of wedlock? [108]

Could you perhaps name the primary schools in south central Warsaw which are entirely funded by religious orders?

EVERY school gets subventions. If you want to start atheists school you will get one.

I am entirely certain that I heard the mother in question complaining (before her kid was denied a place) about the interview process.

No such thing in public schools(meaning-ENTIRELY founded by the state).

However, it was state funded, so Sean and I are paying the wages of those bigots.

AGAIN-you're paying for every school.

Which it could be.

NO.

They create a folder when you get baptised ;)

Exactly.

arry: “INFORMATION: I wish to inform you that X, son of Y and Z, residing at ABC Street, has resigned from Religious Education classes in this school year. Please add this information to the parish files and in future draw the appropriate consequences.” It’s then signed by the priest running the RE classes.

I resigned from RE and the only thing that happened to me is that priests are more inclined to talk to me.Even my parson told me that I'm right nor to take part in RE if I'm not certain and invited me to talk to him if I needed it.And I'm living in small town.

RE lessons are compulsory till 16 years of age, you can opt out but need parental permission to do so.

In Poland ( theoretically) you have to sign to attend RE.Because of so many children(or parents)
choosing to go to RE usually it means that parents have to write-out of it.

I'm sick of Catholic bashing, don’t like Catholics fine just don’t make stuff up.

Exactly.I have many issues with clergy but...

Care to tell us how much the American School of Warsaw gets? Or the British school?

I don't know how it works if the shool is run by foreign country. But the subventions are given to all types of private shools.

Life / You are Polish if... [433]

I would say for me consider other person as fellow Pole it's a mix of ancestry, citizenship, language, cultural/ historical awareness and "feeling Polish". Not all are necessary, but just one is a bit to little.

Same with me

you have the endurance to watch your national football team every time, even though they havent won a meaningful game for over 30 years

How could I not?It's my duty :)

your idea of a healthy lifestyle is szmalec, golonka, alcohol and cigarettes

It's not a healthy lifestyle.It's the healthiest :D

you can down a bottle of wodka and still talk and walk straight

Depends on the bottle.1l is to much for me.

you hit things thinking they will start working again

It's a proven fixing technique :)

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2971]

pgtx,what is the difference?

The 72 hours pill doesn't allow the egg to "stic" in uterus. The second one makes women's body to get rid of already nested egg.

There're some herbs that women can use to do the same thing with available products.

Language / Addressing a widow who lives in Poland [12]

We have a little bit different system(or had)
Jan Nowak
Alina Nowakowa-Alina that is married to Mr Nowak
Helena Nowakówna-Daughter of Mr and Mrs Nowak-unmerried
But from what I know it was rather used in speaking than writting. The first name was always the same only the last name changed.

It also worked in different situations:
Doktorowa/doktorówna-wife/daughter of the doctor
Dyrektorowa/dyrektorówna-wife/daughter of the direktor
and so on.

Love / Aliments and abortion (I was married to a Polish guy) [64]

I really don't think I was ever angry at my husband and I dont think ill ever be.

That's part of the problem.

maybe he treats me this way coz he knows
no matter what he does I never yell at him or even blame him for something.

Exactly. He treats you this way because he knows he can. It's time to change it girl.

He could buy the case...

Let's assume he tries that:
1-he tries to deny that he's a father-you get DNA tests and that's all.
2-he tries to get the child for himself-rather doubtful
3-he doesn't want to pay-under Polish law every parent is obliged to support the child..Any judge can't say otherwise.Even paid one.

I wish you all the best.Unfortunately there's something about you that reminds me "beaten wife syndrome".He hurts you and you can't even fight for yourself (the child is important but the same goes for you-if you don't think you're worth fighting for than how are you gonna face him?) and you think taking what's yours is something bad ( feeling ashamed because you ask for money that he has to pay?).

He married you and had sex with you if he doesn't like the fact that you're pregnent that's his problem not yours.

Now:
1-as fast as you can go to some lawyer and get legal advice.Ask if you should record your conversation with him, gather documents and so on.Step by step. Then do what he tells you.

He is a big fish but you can fight.Don't wait. The longer you're unprepared...let's just say it's not to good.Remember-child born during marriage is automatically child of the women's husband. The husband has to go to court and file for "zaprzeczenie ojcostwa"/"denial of paternity" to change it.

Girl you don't know how much I wish this b****** got everything he deserves.
Be strong, fight and please keep posting.
P.S.(edited) I forgot one more thing-remember he can try to discredit you. That's one more reason why you should look for legal advice.

Language / Want to learn Polish, already know some. [13]

And you probably will. After some studying you should be able to communicate very good, both in speaking and writing.
I think you should also take part in discussions in Polish on this forum. It will give you an opportunity to practice your writing.Maybe you should also get used to Polish keyboard(maybe you already had,I don't know). It's not so different-practically English with few additional combinations like: ą,ę,ć,ó,ź,ż (alt with appropriate letter, only ź is alt+x)

Love / Aliments and abortion (I was married to a Polish guy) [64]

DNA test isn't a problem though but I guess he can also refuse to do it.

He can't if he wants to prove it's not his child. As I told you-the court will assume (don't take it the wrong way,I believe you I just want to tell it all) it's his child.

she told me it's better to go home coz citizens are more important than foreigners. Honestly, that made me lose hope again.

I can't really argue with a professional.Just remember that in Poland you also have rights. His behaviour will help you. That's why I sugested typing your conversations and gathering documents. You can send him a letter with your statement and see what his replay is going to be.Ask again at NGO or some lawyer (that won't charge you) and see what your options are

Maybe it's possible that I have such syndrome and probably not but I am almost sure I dont have such scary syndrome.

You may not have it but your posts reminded me of the several women I knew that were abused.I mean-you said that you can't even be mad at him.

even his Xgf was the one beating him but he still falls back for her.

My friend's always using expression "gonić króliczka"-"to chase a bunny" for this kind of thing.I once heard "in relationship one party always loves more while the other allows to be loved" .

If I was in my country, I would probably have more idea what to do but i am just so lost.

That's understandable. At home we feel secure and know how to deal with things.

ahmmm...I never let anyone treat me this way before it's just that my feelings with him are always strong. stupid feelings... I really wish I don't feel this way.

Emotions can be, and usually are, messy.Right now you must try to control them and deal with him with your head instead.

I've never seen my parents fight. Not even once in my life.

There's nothing wrong with fighting but it should be done within reason and without real insults.

everyone in his family is already pinning me down with negative feelings.

Don't pay attention.I have three good reasons:
1-They are his family and not yours.I know ppl that can be objective in situations like that but in most cases ppl will be on their relatives side no matter what you're going to say

2-Someone raised him to be the man he is.Of corse sometimes children are entirely different but not so often.
3-They know only what he tells them.
P.S.Do you have any friends here?Someone to listen to you and help you?
