News / Is it possible that Polish president was assasinated? If so then, by whom? [921]

Olga: And revenge would fit, no? No. Your opinion is based on a single claim: "Mr Putin and/or Russians are evil".

Even that wouldn't fit-we're not as important for Russia as we think.I don't believe in "revenge crime" in this case. They could loose more than they could gain.In fact for Russia it'd be better if it never happened. Now the whole world hear about Katyń.

It's really nice to have him on PF.Every time I think I won't be able to learn Russian I'm looking at something he wrote in Polish and my mood is better :D

Even native speakers look bad compared to him :D I also would like to buy him a beer :D Not only because of his linguistic skills but because I agree with almost everything he says :D

History / A rare Polish medal [14]

Actually it wouldn't be so stupid idea. It's the thing Polish ppl never learn-that sometimes it's wise to just keep your head low.I love it but it also gave us some hard times.

News / Did you know that Polish army is the weakest in Central Europe?.. [150]

No I never did.what do you mean "we can't"?YES, WE CAN!

So you really don't know.We can defend many kilometers of forest? The whole Bieszczady area?"Zielony Szlak" begins in Ukraine or Bielarus and ends in Poland. If you know where you should go you can come to Poland.

Przynudzasz, niunia...

I'm not your niunia and of course I'm boring because it's better to say that Polish army is weak without any proof.I'm not arguing with your statement because I don't know any statistics myself, but as I can see you don't know them either.

News / Did you know that Polish army is the weakest in Central Europe?.. [150]

As I understand wiki is the most reliable source of informations...I really hope that you are not serious.

I dont think there would many potential invaders if they were facing lets say 8 milions armed

Did you heard about "Zielony Szlak"?We can't really defend that border.

UK, Ireland / Polish people in the UK using the English version of their name? [56]

My cousin name is Małgorzata but when she moved to Germany everybody changed it into Margot. She didn't want them to call her that and every time she said "I'm not Margot-I'm Małgorzata". Now she's living there 20 years but she still is using her original name. If you want to keep your real name you have to be prepared for problems with pronunciation and spelling.

Love / Do Polish women have bad tempers? [49]

Of course we have bad tempers. We also have fur on all our bodes and huge claws. We bite and rip off our victims :D Stop generalizing. If you have problems with your girl don't speak about whole group of ppl.

Love / Polish girlfriend going back to Poland if I dont buy engagment ring [85]

It depends. If you get her a ring for 20 zł and you get 3000 zł per month it's really too cheap. And it's not about the money-it's about how much you value her love.If it was expensive for you then you should run away as fast as you can.

Language / Why in the world there are three ways to write simple U ?!?! [54]

Even if there is no difference in pronunciation right now there is reason why we still use f.e. "rz" and "ż"-there're words that means different things just because of orthography:

morze-sea
moze-maybe
So don't tell me this is meaningless.

Language / że & iż [16]

In spoken language it's really rarely used but you can still hear this sometimes. In written language it's still in use as you said to avoid repetition.

Love / Is she genuine? - I would like some advice please re a Polish girl. [130]

It's so easy for a scammer to google this.

You are right but cartoons have other problem-she can tell "The Smurfs"and it wouldn't say anything. The only really reliable test is...to check her ID or passport. But I'm quite sure that option is unavailable.

Language / When do you use 'się'? And what does it mean? [37]

It's really hard to explain.Your friend was quite right-it's used as "self" but some other verbs also requires "się".

I'll try to translate it:
"się" is used in three situations:
(1.1)...when the person feels the consequence(it's not good translation but the best I could give) as in "self"
(1.2)..as a impersonal form(???),when you don't know who had done sth
(1.3)...when there are group doing sth

e.g.:
(1.1)Krzysztof moved when he was asleep
(1.1)Anna washed herself
(1.2)It's getting late
(1.3)It's said that Janek is getting married with Judyta

I don't know if I made it any clearer but I've tried

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

This is not wrong.

It can be.Kids are learning really fast and if you are responding to eagerly your child will use it against you.Of course not right away but soon. They know that their mothers can't stand them crying and then learn when and how use it to get what they want.

From what I know there are few similarities(few words in common) but not as many as to understand Hungarian without learning it.

Language / 'ucha' [23]

In polish you have 7 cases. You have to check witch one to use when you want to say something grammatically correct.
Mianownik:To jest ucho-it's the ear
Dopełniacz:Temu pomnikowi brakuje ucha-this sculpture is missing the ear
Celownik:Czemu się tak przyglądasz?Twojemu uchu.-What are you looking at?At your ear.
Biernik:Co widzisz?Ucho.What can you see?Ear.
Narzędnik:Co cię boli?Mam problem z uchem.-What's wrong with you?I've problem with my ear.
Miejscownik:O czym rozmawiacie?O moim uchu-What are you talking about?About my ear.
If it's not enough let me know I'll try to explain it differently or maybe someone else is a better teacher:D

I almost forgot about one more thing:
Some people(poor educated or making a joke)use the word "ucha" for plural form(ears?)but it's not correct.
