Love / What to answer to the Most annoying phrase that EVERY and EACH polish girl always says? [58]

The phrase that all polish girls repeat over and over and over again isannoying, crazy, driving people insane

I think the reason for this is that if a Polish person speaks Polish badly they are looked down upon as being uneducated and stupid. By saying that they speak English badly they are not setting themselves up to be ridiculed or laughed at.

Language / Foreigners speaking Polish - examples. [71]

Never!!!

I am not so sure.

He is speaking to someone half his age, the two behind the counter might think that he is trying to chat one of them up! He has put in some effort so he could be some kind of a stalker! He went to their coffee shop especially to speak polish to them instead of just going to the place where all the other english speaking people go. He is taking it too seriously also which means that he could be crazy as fck, if he was having a laugh with them and not being so serious it wouldn't be so bad.

The only way to do this correctly is to have a laugh with the two behind the counter otherwise he can't but appear silly. Being too serious and making such an ase of speaking polish is just asking for trouble, but also speaking good polish may make him seem even more mentally deranged, to put so much effort into speaking Polish just so that he can order coffee from them.

Genealogy / Seeking relatives of Klepadlo family, originally from Brzeniny, Poland [9]

I would also like to find out some history of the Klepadlo name and its origins.

pwsz.chelm.pl/poradnia_jezykowa/index_2.php?id_k=5&id_p=114
I couldn't translate it 100% as I am only a learner, this name comes from old Polish, it is a name for something, the link says that klepadło is kołatka

Kołatka

It could be that someone in your family made door knockers.

Language / Będę kupowała/będę kupić [18]

będę kupowała and będę kupić

You probably want to ask what is the difference between będę kupowała and będę kupować

Either is good and means the same thing although if you were a man you would use będę kupował, a woman uses będę kupowała and both can use będę kupować.

2 votes for "I am horney" so I will have to go with that, thanks.

youtu.be/AcS9FsFrXos

I would love to know what the people behind the counter think of this.

Have you ever worked in a shop in an english speaking country and have had an english customer speak to you in Polish?
What do you think of people who do this?

Is it ok to speak polish very badly to someone in Poland even if the other person speaks reasonable english?

Are you just making a fool of yourself speaking Polish?

Is this film wrong on so many different levels?

Life / Polish sentimental ballads [38]

I like Polish ballads with a nostalgic message - exhibiting sentimental or wistful yearning for happiness.

That is really nice.

Does this mean that you are trying to tell us that we only know one side of you?

Genealogy / Do I look Polish? (my picture) [375]

Hello everyone! I would like to know if I look Polish to you, since while being in Poland people didn't assume I was foreign.

It is hard to tell what country people come from. People make assumptions.

When I am in Poland people can't tell. Only when I speak can they tell that I am not Polish.
I wasn't in Poland and a Polish person assumed that I was Polish because I didn't speak immediately at the counter and I was greeted with "Witam"

I must try this on purpose sometime to see if I can get the same reaction :-) If they speak Polish to me then I can speak Polish to them :-)

Czy jest warto odwiedzić Szczecin?

Lubię chodzić do kawarnii i spacerować po miastach.

Chciałbym też kupić książki i płyty DVD w języku polskim. Czy jest centrum handlowe w Szczecinie podobne do Starego Browaru w Poznaniu?

Wkrótce jadę do Berlina na kilka dni i wydaję mi się że Szczecin jest bardzo blisko.

Dziękuję.

Do not try it with the right pane; you might get a fit of laughter.

Of course I had to try that, very funny :-)..............now I know why Polish people laugh when I try to speak Polish. It is always good for a laugh :-)

Language / Nice Polish words to say to a girl [147]

I checked google images and they all look ok, none of them have a dirty meaning, as far as I know some are diminutive forms. Another one is kotka, a kitten but can be used for girlfriends etc. also, just as in english it isn't a bad word.

I know what the cat wants! To go home with her, find a warm place to lay down and have her kittens! :-)

Genealogy / Want to find a person [766]

hello my name is Brett Mcleary and i am looking for a polish girl how moved back to Poland sometime after 1990 her name is ANNA and i have been told that her last name was LUCZEWSKI i always thought it was LUCHFSKI or LUSHFSKI.

Even if someone did know where she is or how to find her, how do we know that you are not looking to cause her problems? You could be an ex boyfriend posing as Brett McLeary on this forum to find her.

S***** is my favourite.

Hi Noreenb, when I hear Polish people swearing in English it gives me a very bad impression of them, it is just an impression that I get, it may sound ok to Polish people to hear you swearing in English but it is nothing new to an English speaking person. It is a pity that they swear after making such a good impression by speaking English very well.

Anyway, back on topic to slang :-) !

To jest super bryka

I was just browsing this thread also to see if I was on topic etc. because often my posts get moved around but I see that the standard of moderation is very uneven, sometimes strictly applied and sometimes not at all, many of the above posts should have been moved etc. for being off topic. So bad is the moderation that here is an off topic post by a moderator! :-) :-) I don't take it seriously anymore, it is just an observation.

only in Poland - tylko w Polsce

Tylko w "Polsce"! :-)

Polish was chosen the HARDEST LANGUAGE in the world to learn... :D

I didn't read all the posts etc. but from the heading I don't understand why this is important.

Would it be a problem if it was the easiest language in the world to learn?
