News / How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ? [244]

, the President had the right to extend pardon to Kaminski before the verdict in the case was due.

this is more or less what the law handbook I was talking about said (it says President can pardon anyone in any phase of the legal process (except the verdicts of The Trybunał Stanu) which is as much as the Polish constitution states)

News / Polish PM Tusk- dictator or not? What Poles think? [374]

TV Republika brought it upon itself:

this campaign is not a grass root campaing but it is orchestrated by political and financial elites - also the Polish TV and radio advertisment market is de facto shared by only a handful companies (domy medialne) who can stop companies from advertising when and where they see fit - before the campaing there were ads every 15-20 minutes on Republika

Firm means he also had to pay salaries to his assistants

how many people do you think worked on the project? also the article I linked clearly states that TVP not only paid Lis's company but also actually shared the cost of the production of the show (and that significantly)

And that's what matters in media pluralism - news

there is an ongoing big campaign of getting advertisers to shun TV Republika (I watch it and I can see the difference between now and two weeks before)

News / How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ? [244]

this was stated by the Supreme Court in May 2017 in Poland.

I don't know if it is the case in the Polish legal system - but for example in the US the famous "Wade vs Roe" famour ruling was not so long ago overturned by a new ruling by the Supreme Court as a transgression or usurping of the competences the US Supreme court doesn't have

also the Polish Supreme Court ruling goes against what is written is some of the law hand-books - also perhaps in a while and in a similar case we will see an overturn of the ruling you have mentioned on grounds of not being a logical interpretation of the law (which means an usurpation)

Certainly the astronomical salaries are something that started under PiS

Tomasz Lis's firm earned more than 20 million PLN in the years 2008-2016 for producing his talk-show programme for TVP - there are more examples of such

Life / Has feminism and lesbianism progressed in Poland? [645]

they can stop getting pregnant and they can support themselves so they don't have to relay on husband, kids.

and then suddenly they retire and kids of other women have to support them through social security systems which eventually fail because most women decided they don't want to have more than 1 kid and a need arises to import incompatible culture work force from far away

Genealogy / What does my Polish name mean? [400]

@tylerkiz

Edit: I found a surname Kiesner (mostly found in Germany, the US and Poland) - alas there was no explanation on the meaning of the name, but I think it is the most likely candidate for the source of the name Kiznar/Kieznar/Kizner (to focus your attention a German surname Weiner (wine-maker/wine grower) became a Polish surname Wojnar (the surname also comes from the same area: the Polish part of the Karpathians and their piedmont)

Genealogy / What does my Polish name mean? [400]

@tylerkiz

the name Kizner, Kiznar probably has German origins - in 13th century if I recall correctly there was a wave of settlers from Germany in the Polish Karpathian mountains and piedmont - these people eventually adopted the language of their Polish neighbours later in 16th-17th century but their (phonetically altered) surnames remained - I don't know what Kizner means (my wild guesses are "cheese maker" (cheese is "Kaese" in German) or a surname connected to "Kiese" (gravel in German) but my guesses may be completely off and my knowledge of German is quite limited)

just in case you get an unwomanly impulse to abandon your domestic duties.

I now know what Atch is all about - she's mad at her husband ... er.. I mean patriarchy

Only if it's one where I can talk about embroidery and fluffy kittens - or housework of course.

you have just offended me - I'm off to report to the mods :)

So the unconstitutional version of the constitutional tribunal..... try again.

I never said anything about the Tribunal - use your own knowledge of the Polish constitution to support your claim that the pardon Duda gave to the two PiS politicians in question was invalid

I dream daily about gang-raping big beautiful butch lesbians by the dozens on my own - I know you people find it preposterous and a little outrageous but that's just how I roll

Travel / Fishing in Poland - where to go, what to catch? [74]

The bureaucrats will no doubt argue that's needed to protect the rights of the citizens, bla bla bla... does anyone actually believe it?

the simple thing is that Polish anglers (fishermen?) rarely release their catch as there is a tradition among them to consume what they catch (rarely on the spot of course) - after all Polish people are known of eating carp at Christmas time - do you think they will scorn a humble roach, a tasty eel or a noble pike - then there is angler's union who grow little fish and release them in various waters - most of the income they (the union) have (most probably all of it) is from licences - et voila

If he grants pardon again, it means that the re-conviction of both men was valid.

it's not the same thing as the first time Duda granted them pardon - Duda is going to begin a completely different procedure that has to involve ministry of justice (if I understood correctly - it however won't stop the opposition from claiming Duda admitted to making a mistake with the first time he gave Kamiński and Wąsik pardon)

At what point a tribe would say, Oh sh*it...let's think this crap through one more time...

if one day 100 per cent of women turn 100 per cent lesbian, there would be no other way of sustaing the human species other than through mass scale raping :P

News / Poland says no to flood of Immigrants [648]

That's one of the reasons we have a problem with gangs of local Dubli

it seems the Irish don't mind - otherwise they would vote for parties who would call for harsher treatment of criminals - or maybe the Irish people would call for the change in how the judges are created and would call for them to be elected like in many US states

o od naszej rodziny do Twojej rodziny.

od naszej rodziny dla Twojej rodziny (no 'o' at the begining, either)

na Was wszystkich swoimu

I guess this was just a typo, but it should read 'swoim'

@Novichok
Rich I rememeber you have said you studied in Poland - did you work as an engineer in the US? (by engineer I mean the US equivalent of Polish 'inżynier' - I just actually don't know how Americans would call a person Polish people call 'inżynier')

..because if a man tells an off-color joke with a woman next to him he will be reported for sexual harassment or some other crap.

you are mixing American realities with those Polish: feminism hasn't got this far in Poland yet (now it's like the middle-of-90's America here)

Men "dominate" in coal mines, wars, as crane operators, car racing, bridge construction, hunting, rescue operations, on submarines, in engineering, as composers, inventors, and firemen

all valid points - I believe pawian is a dangerous feminist fanatic at this point

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2971]

for fear of breaching the country's strict abortion laws

have you read the law - it's plain and simple they just didn't apply it - again ignorance, cowardice (or at least lack of civil courage) and disregard for human life - oh yeah, and if you read up on the exact case actual neglect
