i'm Polish and i have dark blond hair and bluish green eyes, my bro has light brown hair and blue eyes, sister got dark blond hair light green eyes same as my mom, pops got black hair and baby blue eyes. All of us including my father, as kids had light blond hair, most peoples hair darkens with age. Polish people are mostly of the Nordic stock with a bit of admixture of other groups, that is why most of us got blond to medium dark brown hair with blue, green or gray eyes.

most Polish people (more than half) belong to the Sub-Nordic type, which is basically a mixture of Nordic with Ladogan with the Nordic gene being dominant (the Ladogans were an ancient ppl in North Eastern Europe of mixed white and Mongolian ancestry) and the rest or more 1/3 are either Nordic or Alpine. So yes we do have a little Mongolian admixture. Based on the newest genetic studies it is the Ukrainians who are the closest to us my blood, them already being Slavic like us, makes that not surprising. But also Hungarians are related to us as well, i'm not sure how but its been proven. Hungary has always been Polands friends, a king of Poland was also a king of Hungary at the same time, in the Russo-Polish War when Poland fought and beat Russia in 1920 Hungary wanted to send 30,000 soldiers to fight alongside Poland, in 1956 Hungarians supported Polish anti-communist uprising in Poznan, later on the same year Polish supported them in their uprising against Russian domination.

I'm Polish and have been living in America since i was a child, and i've heard this dozens of times, I don't expect Europeans to understand this, but many idiots in America think that Polish people, and not just them but ALL foreigners from Europe are not white, simply Polish, or German, or Russian etc. that u have to be an American to be white, who started this stupid s**t?? I've heard from them that "yea u are still white, but ur Polish, ur not American so ur not white" People ur comments plz

Uhh yea, but Polish people come to those countries and work hard, the ones that work illegaly work for much less than the citizens of those countries, yet in a few years have nice cars buy homes, are successfull. Some citizens that were born in those countries like minorities, had all the opertunities by being citizens and knowing the language, i'm not even gonna mention all the help they get in getting a good education or job from governmental and non governmental agencies just cause they're a minority, yet still they don't work just mooch off the country sit on wellfare have 4 ,5 ,6 kids and complain. Polish people living abraod in USA or Western Europe see this everywhere, we don't want the same thing to happen in our own country. media tries to brainwash people to feel sorry for them or to make them believe by letting them in our country we'll be doing something good for them and ourselves. Bull**it just for them. We'd be the burden bearers of all this. No thanks. That is what i love about Poland, traditional European country full of my own people, ethnic Poles, where i feel at home, not like an outsider.

Grownfolksbiz thanx for clarifing that for me. No one said anything bad to me, at least not recently, years back yes often from white Americans, but i can honestly say i've never experienced any prejudice from African Americans, actually when i say i'm Polish they like me for it, and respect me, as if they know i'm foreign and get hated on sometimes like they. I have a grandfather back in Poland who was dying in a hospital the Polish doctors wouldn't help him, this was back during communist times, because he wouldn't give them money (even though healthcare was supposed to be free) anyhow the black doctor who was there was the only one who helped him actually saved his life didn't take a penny, they amputated his legs, he saved his life. Another time in a different city again a black doctor helped him. See even though he just met 2 or 3 of them he loves black people, he knows that there are bad ones as well, but for someone completely different to help him that much, that was truely something for him.
Furthermore, people try to act as if they see no differences. Yes, American and I'm black. It's obvious. I have no problem with you stating the obvious. The very same people who chastise others who state the obvious turn right back around and say things like "I don't like America because people are fat." Are they being just as ignorant or are they stating the obvious? hmmmmmmmm?

i dunno what happened, during communist times he had a almost half a million armed forces, 3rd largest in Europe after the Soviet Union and West Germany, and in quality of equipment it was in comparison also on NATO average. Knowing Polands history and its two big neighbors, just cause of them we should have a large standing army, not 120,000 but maybe 300,000 troops, and it wouldn't be all that expensive, ending compulsory service and becoming profesional the armed forces save hundreds of millions of dollars a year, that go for training new recruits. the U.S Army saves 2 billion every year. We've had guarantees of freedom before and it didn't do any good, Britain and France pledged to help us, the didn't lift a finger in WWII. We fought for them, in Battle of Britain, in Normandy, Monte Cassino, in the east in Berlin, again the betrayed us after the war, leaving us to the Russians. And this whole American anti-missile missles deal is the same thing, it's only for Americas benefit, to protect America from Iran, North Korea, and above all Russia, it's just making us a target, if Russia nukes us or invades, the 200 man American garison will pack up and leave, leaving us alone, AGAIN.

Sasha, I know a Polish and Belorussian couple and they do understand each other very well. It's true that many Ukrainians are dark haired and eyed, but central and eastern Ukraine has been influenced by Tartars and other non Slavs, western Ukrainians look more like Polish people, and their language seems close to Polish as well. Also, look at the Poles that live by the Ukrainian border, or the ones that were resettled into Poland after the war, many look Ukrainian. i personally have at least 10 friends that are part Ukrainian, excluding myself. Russians also have alot of blond blue eyed people, some look straight up Scandinavian and i'm not talking about Rurik and his dynasty, Poles, Russians, Ukrainians all used to be originally Nordic, mixing over the centures changed that to a degree. I myself have nothing against Russians i've got Russian friends, from all over St.Petersburg, Podolsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnodar i've dated Russian girls they've dated Polish girls, it's all good.

Supposedly 30,000 Scottich families settled in Poland back in the 17th century, i havn't met any Scottish Poles, did they evaporate lol ?? of course not, they've gotten completly asimilated into Polish society, therefore if you meet a red headed Pole, he's probably got some Scottish in him. Oh and acording to the latest genetic testing Poles have almost no non-European genes in em'. Our eastern neighbors Latvians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Russians, Estonians, Finns are all at least a 1/4 non white. That idiot Hitler said all that sh*t about us and it got proven wrong.

Well if you're Croatian it shouldn't be that had, people say English is harder to learn than Polish, English words are spelled one way and pernounced a different way, it was easy for me cause i went to an American school, if you go to school and ur just a kid you'll learn quickly, it's harder trying to learn it by yourself and when you're older. I'm starting to learn Russian, i like how it sounds, in many ways its similar to Polish many words are the same also, im starting by learning the words themselves and looking and tranliterations, not yet focusing on the cyrilic alphabet.
I did have the opportunity to learn one of the hardest, and supposedly the most grammatically-complex Slavic language, Polish. It is certainly harder than Croatian, which I already knew when I started to learn Polish.
