UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish migrant in the UK. Ch. 5 - Racism [259]

scotland throughout history has never had high levels of immigration

Celts, Norse, latterly Irish in the 19century and English in the 20th century.

If scotland was suddenly flooded with migrants then iam sure they would be as angry as english people are right now.

The largest city in the Highlands has just over 5% of its population as Polish alone (Polish ambassador visited two days ago ). This populastion is set to increase as the recession comes to an end.

UK, Ireland / Sad life of a Polish migrant in the UK. Ch. 5 - Racism [259]

I am glad to see people start to differentiate between England, Britain and Scotland.
Scotland has a different culture and a different national identity.

Scotland has a fair share of idiots the same as any other country but as a whole, I would say Scotland is less racist.

This can be evidenced by the Scottish Government initiatives such as Szkocja Twoim Miejscem.
If anyone can evidence anything similar from the London Government I would be interested to see it.

Scotland has a Nationalist Government.
Compare the inclusive policies of the Scottish National Party to the policies of the British National Party.

Harry Ramsdens

Dont rate it at all - and its overpriced.

I call it a "chipper" too but it seems that further south its called a "chippy".

This is putting me in the mood for a White Pudding supper.

Regarding the Christmas Carp -

i) How do you get it home from the shop ?
ii) How long do you have to go without bath before Christmas?

News / Mass immigration to Poland - article and response [479]

Of all the registered rapes of women last year, a hundred percent (100%)

That is a stunning statistic !
I didn't think it could be true but it appears to be so, certainly for Oslo.

History / Weapons of WWII (Poland and other countries) [239]

ME 163 and ME 262 were well advanced for the period although largely ineffectual.

The Wonderwaffe were developing some amazing weapons - infra red guidance systems, air defence missiles, missiles launched from submarines etc etc

and of course...die glock !

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

I think there are at least 7000 in the religious profession

So if Ireland has a population of 6 000 000. That comes out at around 0.1% of the population.
If 3% of crimes are committed by these people, that means they are 30 times more likely to offend...hmmmmmmm

I am also available to help with tax returns, expenses claims etc etc ;-)

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

blaming priests as being more pedophilic than other professions is not constructive and not backed up by hard facts

In the absence of hard facts lets do some research of our own...

In Ireland research showed that about 3% of those who had committed sexuial offences against minors were in the religious profession.

OK, so as a % of the population, how many people in Ireland are in the religious profession ?

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

Why not the whole way!

Why not ? I can't see what the argument against it would be.

By the way, they have already found a food that reduces a womans sex drive by 90%.

Its called a wedding cake.

So what happens when the sex offender is a woman ? As we saw in the UK earlier this week with the teacher fiddling with a 15 year old.

Inject her tounge with Lignocaine ?

News / US to deploy Patriot missiles to Poland [404]

No missiles in Poland !

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8260230.stm - Obama backs off

The US will shelve its controversial plan to build a defence system in Poland and the Czech Republic after a review of the threat from Iran.

Looks like the US will be looking to Iran to win the Afghan war for them...............again.

Law / The Euro, is it a good idea for Poland? [66]

Pegging your currency to the Euro makes economic sense as it will be less vulnerable in a global market.

It is bad news for domestic retail as prices will go up just like they have done in every other country with the Euro.

Bad news for tourists too.

Life / Price of cigarettes in Poland? [192]

Allegedly, there are people that have fag rounds in the same way you get milk or paper rounds. Put your order in and every Friday you get a knock on the door and there is a man with your 200 fags. £30 a pop and everyone is happy.

( Disclaimer - There is no way I would condone this behaviour and I do not know of anyone who partakes in this behaviour )

Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

I had to read the opening post twice - I wasn't sure whether you meant these things happened in Poland or UK.
Very similar problems wherever you go.

Apart from maybe Japan with the trains.

While you ponder the above suggestions with what to do with your $1/4mil, it might be worth noting that the banks that were bailed out by the taxpayer in the not too distant past are now posting profits.

Life / Some People in Poland Drink Ether? [11]

If you can access research articles Adrian Zandberg has done a paper on Ether drinking in Silesia.

It was also a major problem in Ireland and Scotland in the late 1800s.
