Life / 1 in 217 in Poland and Buddys surgery [NEW]

My Old friends and hopefully new ones. in the past I have spoken about my daughter and how she was born with a metabolic disorder called TFP , well in Poland which I just discovered its 1 in every 217 that are carrying this gene, a high instance. my daughter being decendant of polish family (MINE) and struggling all of her life with this, and still being as tough as nails when it came to hospitals and needles and anything that came at her. our family has never asked for help, nor do we want to , but I have struggled myself trying to keep things going with my daughter in and out of hospitals, of course you all have read how screwed up our health system is now, the hospital bills are much higher and I am still working on them.

Recently my Daughter and her boyfriend found a dog, they left for tennesee back in October, Sabrina always wanting to be able to do things for herself thought this was a good idea to move away from home ( and I cried so much) but had to let her go. anyways this dog was in road and he jumped in the car with them both out of bad relationships with their exes, both had been best friends for four years, and discovered they loved each other both had been through a lot together and especially sabrinas medical crisis's that happened at least once or twice a year and when she was little sometimes four times a year, each time we prayed for her kidneys to not get damaged by each hospital stay. TFP can be managed, by diet, but if you don't know you have it and you fast , you can go into hypoglycemia and rhabdomylosis. sabrinas always been depressed about this all her life not being like other kids, it always broke my heart, because I of course was tested and do carry the gene. so I blame myself , I try to stay strong for my whole family, but its hard to smile when you feel like you have failed. I know it was not something I did personally, but it still hurts because of all the challenges she faces. we just push on.

anyways they found this beagle, who was just amazing little guy, she called him tappy toes, he was obviously abused by previous owner, he had a healing hip last month something happened, buddy was not able to stand up on his own, and no one knew what was wrong, she took him to three vets and nothing made sense, first it was his hip, then it was spine, then he needed to be rushed in it was neuro problem so he had surgery, but not without payment up front ( LIKE WHO CAN SAY THEY ARE EMERGENCY CLINIC AND NOT TRY TO SAVE THIS ANIMAL BEFORE PAYMENT? ) so my daughter tried to get this credit they have of course she isn't working, she is still not able to work certain jobs because of her condition and is finishing school , her boyfriend just got a job two weeks before this happened he was not prepared.

But because they have big hearts like me, and because they gave this little precious dog some quality of life before all of this, he came to visit me twice and he was just the sweetest little boy, and all of this was hard for these kids. and for me to be so far away from her and so much happening and not being able to hug my daughter when she is going through such a devastating time, buddy had the surgery, and by that Monday they called her saying he was not going to make it. that he had a rare disorder that happens with these types of injurys called myleomylacia. that he would stop breathing eventually on his own, that it was better to put him to sleep. when I got this call I felt like the most helpless person on the other side of this call. but I cried with her. we just sat and cried.. because I know how heartbroken she was. moms are supposed to fix things and I couldn't fix this! I was angry at the vets for putting these kids through this. angry thinking he must have known and seen two vunerable kids with a dying dog. anyways, its been a while since I have been here. we started a go fund me page , well the kids did, because they cant afford this, no one can, I don't want my daughter to suffer, ive been doing all I can and will cont , but the amount is still high even though we lost the dog, and it is actually hard for me to even do this, and took me this long to even come here. no one is obligated to do anything at all, but admin, I hope its ok to post this . if not it can be taken down. and sorry for venting, and I wasn't sure where to actually put this thread, so I made new one by itself.

Thank you all for listening. my daughters boyfriend was so distraught when he was posting he misspelled a lot. both are still in shock, that same night they had to put him down, my daughter was processing the whole thing and was sitting on chair, she said a white shadow got up and walked towards her and the cat and plopped down on buddys bed the cat was in shock and freaking out. she had this little guy two months and he became the dog he was supposed to with these two kids he is so missed :(

gofundme.com/buddy-lee-rawlins-surgery-costs

I tried to explain this as short as possible , its been a very hard month and now a cousin is also getting testing done because she might have same as my daughter and has same symptoms and there was a child that is also related that we did DNA testing thru ancestry and found this family is also our family and I was too late on my quest to help all the family near and far, I can only say for those who don't believe that dna testing is a good thing, its definitely spot on with my family and although we lost a cousin, right now we are hopeful we have saved one.

For those who share on FB thank you anyone who is in need of genealogy help just send me a message I would be happy to help in any way possible . :)

Love / Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Find Polish Women Attractive? [93]

lastly I'm from Turkey.

do Poland a favor and go back!

Yet I couldn't find any Polish girl who is interested in or has an idea about those topics.

Maybe because your boring and uneducated and say mean things to women who really don't find you attractive and might even not like things about your face.

Life / Life in Lomza - Is it a cheap place to live? [9]

This is interesting, i always had this picture in my head of what it would be like, I have a few pictures but they are of country roads so I guess thats why I personally feel stuck, its hard to learn about something you never actually seen. with all honesty I am glad they are increasing livelyhood for people there. Building more stores and making it more conveinent for folks.

Life / Agnieszka holland compares life in Poland to 'sniffing farts': [97]

World-famous film director Agnieszka Holland sharply critical of Polish political and cultural life: Is this insulting or just plain talking?

Reading the article * GOOD POST BTW* where she was saying :The cultural climate is very stifling here."

as many times as Poland has been * Occupied * I think whats left of the older generations might be trying to keep Culture a Priority.

Yes I see her comment insulting. people grow up,live the way they were taught , or know, whether it was high expectations in her family culture or not who is she to judge in the first place? if its stifling its simple dont go. her comment in a newspaper article isnt going to change a culture that has been this way for well over a thousand years.

And one last comment for AH. If you dont go to Poland putting your nose where it dont belong you wouldnt be sniffin farts now would ya?

Genealogy / Chmiel - My Polish Family memories, traditions, thoughts and hopes [11]

first of all join ancestry.com they are all over the world and in canada so you would be able to find something.. then look at some of the sites provided by people.

the only way to start is by looking at all the old documents your family has.. anything, pictures, memorial cards etc.. document everything and keep a clipboard near to write or jot down anything familiar.. you can go back to.

Ellis island is a great place to start.. and of course bury your grudges and talk with family , anyone who might know or is older that can help you determine exact dates... family stories can be true or not true, write down everything.

Genealogy / I need to find a boy! He was from Germany, or Poland. [6]

I think you are in waay wrong section.

I agree, and her not having a name or anything and she cant say what she has, how would anyone even begin to help.. gosh people expect way to much these days.. like we all were born with crystal balls and we can see into the past and the future..

if the guy lost something, well turn it into the place you found it.. its noble you want to find him, but your looking for the needle in the haystack. I can only say good luck. no takers or helpers in this section.

Genealogy / Polish blood only makes up 1% of your "Polishness" [77]

I just want to tell you that no matter what , you do what you feel is right, unfortunately, in any public forum, if you say something, you will get a reply and it wont always be what you want to hear, but lets just take a moment to understand, you live in America, so you are American with Polish ancestry, I think thats why you get the negative, because in explaining, your family and where you came from is Poland, but your not officially Polish ( citizen) but you can be.

Maybe that makes people jealous and they have to reply like they do, but pay no attention to it, because its a bunch of supposed to be grown ups acting like children over something they can simply explain better instead of getting argumentive.

I have heard it over and over and over and let me say its like the same old book over and over and predictable as well.

but I would suggest if you want to have clarification, and its a cool way to find out is thru the DNA.. I did it, but they have different websites that have some really good testing.

USA, Canada / Anglo-mangling of Polish surnames in the US/Canada [22]

(Przybylski

Familiar to me.

Nowak comes out as NO-whack

never seen nor heard people mangle it like that.. unless your in first grade and are just learning to spell and sound out words.

can't pronounce my name? I'm not doing business with you.

you must not do much business , its kinda rude to expect someone from another country to know how to say much less pronounce your name if they have never heard of it IMHO. I would just shake their hand and smile and apologize for my pronounciation of it and let them teach me as I would them of how my name would be said.. unless you were born with the good ole pronounciation book attached to your brain and dont need it cause you know everything...

yes I know you missed me haven't you ;)

also during the Massive Immigration from late 1890's to 1920's everyones Name was mangled, only because so many came, high volumes of people passing thru the gates, who is gonna sit and try to spell or say someones name correctly when they have so many people to deal with on a daily basis. and the immigrants English was so broken or heavy accents, they didnt understand..

so for me, only an idiot would be upset , my thoughts are GET OVER IT ALREADY.

WOW.. lol that felt awsome.. I miss you guys

Love / English women and polish man who ran off with my life savings [22]

I would think that if you had such funds in your own account, you should still have reciepts for them, and the day you pulled it out and you can go to the bank and ask for copies. most establishments know the patrons well, so its not like copies dont exist of your money transferring from one account to another, especially if you go to the bank you had your money in, explain the situation and get copies for proof.

I hope you catch up with him, its sad that someone can do such a thing, even when you think you know someone , you really dont know them.

Love / Have been living with my Polish girlfriend. Moving the relationship forward, what now? [18]

I would appreciate any help as to what exactly my girlfriend thinks and expect from me.

I think you need to ask her that question, after all its you who is the one who is living that relationship.
if your living with her already too, I think the proper part of it has already went out the window so to speak, sounds like you two need a nice quiet nite alone and give her a ring and just say it. tell her your fears and ask her what she wants to happen, and tell her how you feel!!

Any woman who is in love with the man is going to listen, especially when you are sensitive to their needs and you place a symbol of your love on their finger.. I think she is going to melt and your worried for nothing. in any case marriage is a bond between man and woman and she should be accepting of everything about you as you are her.

I bet this dog gets king treatment from now on.. at least he should after such a wonderful thing he did saving that childs life.

The reality of this is, this wondeful little pooch was just doing what his instincts tell him, to protect so hes not really expecting to much , just a pat on the head or a steak bone to knaw on.. the cute little boy. aww precious.

If they are listed as registering in Hallers army that doesnt mean they served. they had all three papers filled out, A was the
first step if you go to the hallers site you will see they had to fill out three in order to be picked for the army.

A, B And C if they have C they did serve

have you tried the familysearch.org

you might have some luck there as well.

Law / UK dad - Polish mum - getting a child checked for paternity reasons... Poland [4]

(ive reasons to doubt either way).

so what your saying is during the time of your relationship your girlfriend cheated on you? or she was seeing someone
else while she was seeing you? you should clear up the confusion so that others can help cause you sound more confused
then the situation.

if you doubt this child is yours you should get a DNA test if you believe she isnt yours. but in the defense of the mother if your

just saying it because you dont want any responsibility , then dont worry about it, sounds like the mother has everything under
control.. anyone can father a child, it takes a real man to be a dad.

an old and very true saying.

Life / Is this more related to being raised in Polish culture, or a medical psychiatric disorder? [17]

I think theres a whole lot more underlying , I wont elaborate here.

People become negative because of negative experiences. lack of love, other situations. hopefully thats not the case
but if someone feels ignored they tend to lean towards the negative side.

I think you know why, you just didnt want to discuss it here possibly. but just remember you dont have to be that way to

get attention, and soon it will backfire and cause those who do care about you to back away and you dont want that.
if you feel you need to talk to someone further I suggest you do before it spirals. you seem like you want help, otherwise
you wouldnt have posted it. so I strongly suggest you gather your thoughts on what you really want and get this fixed asap.

USA, Canada / Do Polish guys like American girls? [103]

disagree. I met my ex online in a snowboard forum, and we dated for 5 years and everything was great. We only split because of the distance and me not willing to move to Poland.

sorry to hear this , its never easy a long distance relationship, But its true, they should be careful, you never know if the person
behind the screen is a male portraying a female.

Genealogy / Polish and Russian DNA? [52]

Pat save your money these tests cannot tell you anything significant about your family history, its not going to be CSI PF.

on the contrary Barney, I am glad i did it, because it gave me more information then I realized, seeing that there are studies and even

a thread on here about this, and you must have missed it.

They may throw in a percentage of some native North American just to spice the picture up.

nope, none of this.

Add in all the ones I dont know about

although I did run into a actualy 4th cousin, that ancestry didnt know I knew about, because its not online anywhere, my moms
family which I think what they found was possibly the maternal side of my family, which I didnt even get close with names on
any of them being focused on the paternal lines, its due time to switch it up a bit.

might be more of a challenge, but I want to see if I can track down at least one.

I might have to do my grandmothers side from my dad.

Genealogy / Polish genome - are you familiar with it [58]

On 14 April 2003, a document was published , confirming the completion of sequencing the genome with 99% accuracy of 99.99%. Since that time it was possible to do more acurate research about our Polish ancestry by Polish researchers .

amazing information, I actually learned something , so in essence my family was basically in Poland for about 3000 years or so
according to this and some of the reading I did , scandinavian dna and of course finland, which is a small amount. So whomever
was my 30th great great grandfather ( so to speak) was part of the beginning of Poland.

So delph I say again , your were right I was not actually understanding what you meant, now i do, so to what is known about DNA

and Polish that I am basically like the ones who are in Poland now, and that is pretty cool to have this much information , it gives

me a better light on which direction I can or might take with my genealogy as well.

its funny, how i never seen this thread, but I guess I was meant to wait to see it , had I seen it earlier I would have not given

thought to it because I didnt have any DNA results to compare it to, so my DNA is actually the Norm for what they consider to be

Polish.

Everyone is filled with hate and jealousy anymore. Sad really.

I really agree with this statement, its all to apparent , I see no point in creating a thread about it either.

but Maybe those people who claim to be adults , truely havent reached puberty yet?
