Language / Ideas of messianism of Adam Mickiewicz - more info needed [21]

But the problem is that most of them wouldn't be able to say much about things he wrote, because they aren't "easy" and these I had to read in high school seemed to be simply... weired.

Mickiewicz thought that Poles are a kind of... a chosen nation, which has some special mission... and I think that in his opinion It was that Poles through uprisings and suffering should encourage other nations, which like Poland were in 19th century under foreign occupation, to fight for their freedom... but I'm not 100% sure about that. Maybe someone else will write more.

gotowce.com.pl/prace/781_mesjanizm_mickiewicza_a_mesjanizm_slowackiego .htm

Looks like that what I wrote is rather messianism of Juliusz Słowacki... Mickiewicz believed in that special mission... he thought that Poland was... a Christ of nations :) and through own suffering should somehow liberate other nations, but unlike Słowacki he wasn't calling for fight, rather to wait for some savior...

So you see that dude was weired :)

There's plenty of things about that in Polish, you need to wait for someone, who will translate them better.

Food / Bigos Recipe [183]

That's all. Is this the same thing as bigos?

Sounds like bigos.

I'm trying to figure out why they didn't call it that.

Kapusta is the core of bigos, so It simply is kapusta in some way. :)

murzyn

I would rather say "czarnuch", murzyn is maybe less politically correct, but still quite official.

Do Lodz has language school for foreigner to study?

There's some special center in £ódź, where foreign students may learn Polish before they begin studies on Polish universities, but of course there must be something in Warsaw too.

Genealogy / Parczew / Volhynia - Marriage Kingdom of Poland-Imperial Russia Question [11]

In 19th century Poland was divided between Russia, Austria and Prussia, "Kingdom of Poland" was in fact a part of Russia with Tsar being the "King of Poland" and that form existed only until November uprising in 1830s or January uprising in 1860s, later It was just a part of Russia.
