Life / Fast Food missing in Poland [48]

as funny as the Mexican restaurant I saw in England!

Aren`t there any Mexican nationals in England who can run such a premise???

Following your "reasoning", all Polish restaurants in the US are a hopeless joke.
And I can remember the so called "Polish" hot dog sold in the US chain. The problem is that a native Pole/Poless wouldn`t give it as food to their dogs. hahahaha buhahaha

Life / Wish to settle down, which country to choose - Poland or Russia? [126]

The butter crisis in Russia. Shops complain of soaring butter theft cases after its price went up 34% since January this year.
According to the independent Russian-language website The Moscow Times, stores are combating butter thefts in various ways. Advertisements have appeared in St. Petersburg supermarkets that "customers who want to buy butter are asked to contact sellers because the product has been removed from shelves." Other outlets are storing butter in refrigerators at checkouts, along with caviar and expensive alcohol. Some retailers have begun placing individual cubes of butter in special plastic containers.

While in Poland - butter is cheap and available.

Choose Poland for settling down.

Orlen filling stations offer hot dogs which are appreciated by customers.

Hot dogs also reign at Czech Orlens. Just like in our country, they are sold in a small version for 55 crowns or a large version for 75 CZK. Customers can choose from regular sausages, kabanos sausages, Mexican sausages and spicy Hungarian-style sausages. You can choose one of several sauces for your hot dog. However, there are fewer options than in our country. The friendly Czech cashier also made big eyes when we asked her if it was possible to buy a hot dog in a whole grain bun.
We never had anything like that here," she said.

Life / Life in Poland - ECONOMY [43]

Polish fuel company Orlen owns 3500 filling stations in other countries. Foreign customers are pleased with the quality and the service.

I hope that other Czechs will not take offense at my words, but I must admit that since our petrol stations were taken over by Poles, the service has improved significantly. After the renovation, this station is clean, fragrant, has delicious coffee and tasty hot dogs. The shops at the station, although small, are also much better equipped than before. To sum up: customer service has improved significantly since the Orlen logo appeared on the pylon.

every "objective" report about Poland begins.

And quite correctly coz Poland is still conservative to a large extent. The majority of parties in the parliament come from the centre or right of the political spectrum. The left takes around 8%.

Lech Wałęsa announces the end of Solidarity strike which brought amazing success for striking workers - they achieved their main objective in the clash with the communist regime - the creation of independent self governing trade union called Solidarity.

Cossack risings

The Polish film adaptation of By Fire and Sword novel written by Polish Noble Prize winner Sienkiewicz is illustrated with the march of Cossack army against Polish forces during Chmielnicky Rising of 17th century. The scene features Let`s pour brothers which is an ancient Ukrainian song, origin and author unknown.

Let us pour, brothers,
Into crystal bowls,
Sabres would not take,
Bullets would pass by
Our hard heads!

So that Ukraine
would never cry,
So that our fame
and Cossack glory
Would endure forever.

For Cossack glory
is covered with our blood,
Slashed with swords,
Hewn with sabres
And washed in tears.

Let us rejoice, brothers,
While we have strength!
Until the march,
Until the sunrise

For the Cossack fate,
Like a rue in the field -
Slashed by rains,
Whipped by thunderbolts,
Together with the wind it rages.

Like the clatter of storks,
The Cossack character -
It will burst into laughter,
It will burst out sincerely,
In the end it will cry.

Life / Polish grandma`s advice on life and food [30]

fruit,

I freeze all kinds of our fruit.

I'm surprised you don't have your own colony yet.

I reject the notion of Poland having a colony. Once we had it in Ukraine but fortunately it is no more. Yet, Ukrainian honey is imported by thousands tons and Polish producers are mad.

News / Famous Poles die - your memories [112]

A few days ago Elżbieta Zającówna, a popular actress died, she was only 66. I have always liked her facial features with those conspicuous teeth like a rabbit. I find such women extremely sexy. My wife has similar looks.

And she played nice roles in cult Polish comedies which I watch two dozens of times each year, e.g, Vabank.

Life / Polish grandma`s advice on life and food [30]

Any raw meat can be frozen, but the freezing time depends on the type of meat . Fatty meats must be frozen for a shorter time than those that contain less fat. Beef and veal can be stored in the freezer for up to 8 months. The maximum freezing time for pork is 6 months, and minced meat should be consumed within two months.

Storing meat in the freezer for too long can negatively affect its quality, taste and nutritional value, which is quite obvious.

We consume a lot of honey. I buy it either from local producers or in shops. In the latter case, i choose the honey which started getting crystalized at the bottom of the jar. Then I know it is genuine coz fake product doesn`t crystalize.

I have always been fascinated with those workers who were sitting on the wall of their Gdańsk shipyard while on Solidarity strike in 1980 - as a youngster, I feared they might fall off and get hurt. I saw them in photos and films.
One banner says: Solidarity and equality for the whole nation

Life / Do you collect mushrooms in your country? Poles in Poland do. [94]

Mushroom hunting can end with disastrous effects. Everybody must watch out when in the forest!!!

Here is tragic news about certain guy who paid a high price for his carelessness.

The incident occurred on Friday morning in the town of Rudno in the Lublin province. A 49-year-old resident of the Milanów commune went for a bike ride to a nearby forest to pick mushrooms. His ride quickly raised the suspicions of an approaching police patrol. The officers decided to conduct a routine check, during which they checked the 49-year-old's sobriety.

A breathalyzer test showed that the man was under the influence of alcohol . In connection with the applicable regulations, he was fined PLN 2,500. The cyclist was also banned from continuing the ride and agreed to return home on foot.

Less than an hour after the first stop, the police noticed that the man was riding a bike again. Another check showed an even higher level of alcohol in his blood - the 49-year-old had over a per mille in his blood. The police issued two more tickets. One for riding under the influence of alcohol in the amount of PLN 2.5 thousand and the second - PLN 500 for failing to comply with the orders of the services.
Total: PLN 5,500.

ethnic Ukrainians part of schlata and parliament

Exactly! You only forgot to mention they were allowed to be such after complete polonisation, which included the adoption of the Polish language, culture and religion aka RC. Ha!!!!
It means they were Ukrainian aka Rus no more. They were Poles and Polesses!!!!!!

nobility regarded ethnic polish peasants

Polish peasants were catholic while Ukrainian weren`t so the attitude towards the latter was different aka much worse.

you are just annoying

Yes, I know, I am annoying to Polish nationalists who dream of committing crimes on others without bearing any responsibility for it.
I am here to dispel those sick desires of yours and your buddies.

Love / Moadana love - wedding song [23]

MAIDANA?!

Dana is the word which in Polish suggests dancing. Hey/Oy dana dana means Let`s dance! or Everybody`s dancing!

Maidana may mean: I am dancing now so follow me!

It is also possible that you wrongly remember My dana while it actually was Oy dana.

Check this wedding song:
