History / History of Polish-Russian relations [186]

I don't closely follow Russian public thought.

I did - for seven years.

Vlad1234, so what is your ethnicity?

I thought this thread is dedicated to the history of Polish-Russian relations.

I only mirrored what you wrote yourself (because it can be mirrored perfectly right back at Russia). So what's your problem?

As for "possible reconsiliation"... Now? With a psycho Nazi-like Putinist Russia?? You must be kidding!

. Many Ukrainians still feel connected to Russians through language, culture and history. And religion.

Still? Now? I have the opposite impression - that they don't want to have anything to do with anything Russian anymore. And I can't blame them. I used to be a bit of a Russophile in the past. My discussions with Russians on the internet killed that Russophilia in me to a great extent. The annexation of Crimea killed it completely. And now I don't want to have anything to do with anything Russian. Russian culture, which I liked in the past, is simply dead for me now. I used to be a fan of Russian figure skating, but nowadays I'd probably feel like puking when seeing their performances.

History / History of Polish-Russian relations [186]

@Vlad1234, I think that in the last decades and years Russian public thought had blamed all the historic Russian problems on the West, Poles, Ukrainians, Estonians, Latvians, etc. and has demonized Ukrainians (aka "Nazis"), Poles, etc. and Westerners. But ultimately Russians will need to recognize that history was more complicated than that and not only they suffered or were the heroes.

Feedback / How to reply to a thread on this website? [28]

@Vincent, "Dyrdymałki o Niczem 2" is the only thread on PF that I can't open. What does it have to do with slow internet? GefreiterKania and Cojestdocholery wrote in one Polish thread that they can't get into that thread too. GefreiterKania can read it only on a computer at work.

And why do we have to be logged in to read "Dyrdymałki o Niczem 2" in the first place? The Polish section isn't in Off Topic, so what's the reason for that?

you have reached your maximum number of quotes for 2022, and Admin has sent an electronic pulse to your phone to zap you.

Don't be mean, it's enough that we have a border with Russia, life is tough enough as it is :/
;)

Paulina we invite you to "Koszałki opałki".

But you guys are still writing in "Dyrdymałki o Niczem 2" and I can't read it :/

Life / Is it normal for men to abandon their children in Poland? [26]

social norms of family life in Poland to gain clarity. Is it normal for men to abandon their children and completely dismiss their life

I'd say it isn't "normal" as in it isn't socially accepted (although it is considered to be more "normal" than a mother abandoning a child), but it isn't uncommon. My uncle is like that, for example. We found out that he was married before he married my aunt and that he has kids from that previous marriage only after he went to prison for not paying alimonies O_O Even after he left prison he never mentioned his kids with even one word and it doesn't seem like he ever visits them (he has two kids now with my aunt). I don't know how one can completely discard their own children like that, as if they never existed...

But it does happen and I've heard quite a few stories about men abandoning their kids (not only their wife). Single mothers constitute 19.4% of Polish families - it's one of the highest numbers in Europe (higher number is only in Latvia - 29.1%, Lithuania, Estonia and Slovakia).

Polands most famous and celebrated musicians abandoned the son we have together.

I've never heard of him, tbh.

Dziwne to...

Merged:

I can't access a thread

When I go to "Dyrdymałki o Niczem 2" I can't even read it. When I click on it it says: "You need to login to read this discussion." even though I'm logged in. Does anyone know what's going on? It has never happened to me before... Maybe logout/login again..

Language / Is This the Correct Way to Say 'bro, wake up, it's the 90's'? [10]

Thank you so much for the explanation!

You're welcome :)

I'm wondering, when can 'bracie' be used then?

1. When addressing your brother (family).
2. Among military men, especially if they were in combat together.

so 'stary' can be used regardless whether the person addressed is 'really' old or not?

Yes :)

Po polsku / Karma zawsze (zwykle?) wraca - przykłady z życia [62]

Cudowny chichot historii.

Fakt, też o tym myślałam - dostaliśmy frontalnie z liścia lol

Długo się opierali ale teraz mamy na nich sposób żeby wreszcie pokazali jacy z nich chrześcijanie.

Kiedy obejrzałam video do którego amiga500 podał link w innym wątku...:

youtu.be/vknsjxGnrTk

...te piękne słowa tego pana:

"There is a ray of light... And it's white and red."

...skojarzyły mi się z obrazem Jezusa Miłosiernego namalowanego według wizji siostry Faustyny :):

merciful

"Koleś" would be about someone you don't know, so I'm not sure if that fits? I don't know the context...

brachu?

Yeah, I guess (more among young people though), but I think "stary" is more common, typical (especially if you know the guy).

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

Now, what is your claim on its basis?

That Cojestdocholery should read it before he gets all worked up and starts spreading false information fabricated by Russians.

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

@Cojestdocholery, no, I'm not an Ukrainian, but I'm a human being and so I can understand other human beings. Try that sometimes lol

I can also draw conclusions from history of Poland and of other countries.

By the way Arabs professional 'refugees' getting into Poland already making waves. Those bastards should get what for!

Better chill and read this - there's an information warfare going on:

History / POLISH AND RUSSIAN FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST FOREVER [513]

for Poles if they will create strong friendship and brotherhood at least with Ukrainians and perhaps Belarussians. I think Ukrainians are open for this.

I think it's already happening. What's going on in Poland right now is incredible... A mass drive to help Ukraine and Ukrainians... There's so many initiatives, so many people want to help... I don't think I've seen anything like this in my country before. I've seen some Poles complaining that they didn't get an Ukrainian family under their roof yet lol

Trust me, Ukrainians will remember this for the next 50 years at least, if not longer. Just like Poles remember who helped us, who abandoned us and who joined in with the Nazis to attack Poland during WWII.

And to back up my words - some proof:

facebook.com/groups/683793819641997/permalink/693930191961693/

"Dear Poles, thank you for help. What you're doing now for us is priceless. Ukraine will win and we will never forget what you did for us!"

facebook.com/slawomir.es/videos/469045638145507/

"Inhabitants of Zielona Góra*! The help that you gathered so hard and for so long already made it's way to the Ukrainian army. Our soldiers thank you very much for what you're doing. Today the Ukrainian army is in great need, because, unfortunately, there's a war going on here... and we can see who is our brother and who isn't. We can see your help, we thank you for it very much and we hope it will continue. Thank you.

Poland won't die!" (I don't understand the rest - they're shouting something in Ukrainian, I think)

*a city in Poland

Not as many but there's a lot of sympathy for the Belarusian pubic.

I wonder if that changes if the Belarusian army attacks Ukrainians...
