Whatever the correct word for it be a reprieve, clemency, pardon, or whatnot, that is not important. What is important is that the Presidential pardon in Poland (as in the US) can be granted before or after conviction of the crime.
It has been tested in this case as the Constitutional Tribunal ruled in this very case that a presidential pardon can be granted before conviction of the crime and the same had been later ruled by the Highest Court.
So, we have The president and his interpretation and his pardon, which is supported by the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal, and what stands against it? - some a bunch of political activists in togas that decided they were above the Constitution, the ruling of the CT, and the President. Wow!

Duda is an idiot. It doesn't matter if they end up in prison. He should stand on the ground of legality i.e. his pardon was valid and all that the Tusk government did was illegal and in breach of the constitution, it means Holownia, Skurwysynski and that judge should get ready for prison life! Some are into genealogy but most do not give a ... do not care at all about such issues.
I'm only telling to people - mostly Americans it seems - to get real and stop asking those questions on some random website.
I mean if they are interested in a true answer.
If not, and it is just some play on the American dream of being an aristocrat or as a second best to have an ancestor being an aristocrat and thus justifying their feeling they belong in the ranks of aristocracy even from Eastern Europe, be my or rather be the PF guest but don't expect too much.
My opinion won't stop them from coming. lol!

If the German Army had moved in, it would have been an escalation and what they were afraid of most of all that would lead to another uprising.
Maybe they are honorable but if they were regular officers in the commie army I'm rather skeptical as to their honor.
What I question is their political awareness. It is an easy excuse in a retrospective view. If not for us, there would have been some troops movement, the Germans would have moved in. Oh?! Really? You have done the right thing then... lol!

As far as I know, there were no plans for the Soviets to intervene in Poland. It was just an excuse. I think it was historically proven but seems to me some are making money on perpetuating old commie myths about great Soviet stateman Jaruzelski.
The Soviet Union had just failed in Afghanistan they were in no shape and had no taste for another intervention. Even though there were plenty of Red Army troops stationed in Poland.
In fact that dude acted unlawfully even with the former PRL laws, and it resulted in many deaths and political murders. So spare me glorifying nonsense about your great hero.
