News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [870]

Really Sobieski? Why did you select that nick, if you are not Polish?

Lets keep it semi-civil.
I am telling what I experience here in everyday Polish non-expat life here in Warsaw. This Smolenkist nonsense simply is not an issue here in everyday life.

Perhaps we could discuss the Barbara Blida case in the same way?
P.S. I admire Sobieski because he stopped the Turks in Vienna - something he has in common with Charles Martel (OK here the Arabs) and Don Juan. Too bad he as not able to crush these perfidious magnates. But at least he saved Europe.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [870]

Maybe we get back to real life in this discussion? Does anybody in Poland gives a fig about these reports? I do not think so, at least not the normal people.

Amongst my friends (almost all of them Polish) and at work (100% Polish) nobody even talks about this.
OK, there were some cynical comments in the morning over a coffee about it but that was all.
It is PIS who carry their obsession into infinity. Did they not want to prove they are not a single-issue party :)

Genealogy / Former Poland PM Donald Tusk - A Kashub or a German. [71]

Since some utter fag closed the thread proving some mods are products of stale daschund sperm impregnating a retarded monkey i'll adress an interesting point that arose in the Lwów thread.

As to the ducks being able to live in a spacious flat in the elite Żolibórz area in commie time?

News / Polish-German Close Cooperation Plan [31]

Good alternative? None. Better than him? Kaczyński.

If putting a tent on KM....or keep on going with this utterly boring smoleńsk business...then for sure he could be a success.

This guy does not even know what "economy" is.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

Pilsudski wanted to Attack Nazis not Germans.

Pilsudski was in control of Poland long before 1933. He knew Hitler & the Nazis were scum & He wanted to prevent WW2 from happening.

I guess you are US and therefore have no idea about history.
Piłsudski came back to Poland in 1918.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

Show me a single source of the £ambinowice camp being used by Poles against Germans?

"Bloodlands", Timothy Snyder. Over 6000 German citizens were murdered there.
By 1947 over 7 million German citizens were deported from Poland, from the "recovered territories" = Germany.

History / So called "inconvenient parts" of Polish history - what do you think? [158]

Some people on PF and in real life keep insisting that Poland and Poles did not deal with so called inconvenient parts of Polish history.

The Blue Police perhaps? As close to SS traditions as you can be. The NSZ perhaps? More interested in making deals with the Nazis to kill Jews than to resist?

The Świętokrzyżka brigade maybe?

News / Poland's Krab Howitzer (the 155mm gun) Has Passed the Test! [49]

We sold tanks, trucks, APCs, engineering vehicles, towed artillery, AA guns, radars, radios, minelying and medevec vehicles etc... Currently we have deals with Iraq, Egypt, some South American countries, Turkey and India.

I think it is sad to be proud over arms sales.

History / Historic Polish-Japanese intelligence cooperation [21]

In his - brilliant - book "Bloodlands", Timothy Snyder writes about the Russian-speaking Japanese consul in Kaunas, who used as informers and assistants Polish officers who had escaped the Soviets and the Germans. They got Japanese passports and travel documents by which then traveled all through the USSR and escaped through Japan to the West.. Later the consul, Chiune Sugihara, with the help of Polish officers helped several thousands of Jews to escape from Lithiania through the USSR by rail and then onwards to Palestine or the USA.

And he concludes: "This action was the coda, silent but firm, of decades of Polish-Japanese intelligence cooperation".
Remarkable story and a remarkable man - A Japanese Oskar Schindler.
Does anybody know something more about that Polish-Japanese cooperation?

Travel / Travelling from Berlin to Łódz [10]

Why Poland? I don't have any "clear" idea, but i can say it is not obviously for schengen. I want to experience this in a technical university abroad.

So why you come to Poland, and for example not to Moldavia, Russia, Ukraine....? Your "clear idea" is obvious.
Do you know anything about Poland, besides the fact you consider it an "easy" gateway to Schengen?

History / 'Defamation': The Anti-Semism Industry & Poland [188]

I mean that the crossists on KM are somewhere convinced that only they know the truth about Smoleńsk, that everybody else is a traitor or an ignorant. The same goes for the posters here who are conviced the jews are evil & the downfall of Poland as they know it.

What is your aim? Having the usual bunch of namiotists voicing their scary voices.
Poland is a country antisemitic into its very core - except maybe for the non-PIS electorate.
Correction, the self-proclaimed Polish patriots on this forum are nazi born.
The non-PIS electorate stands for 70% of this country.

Law / Weapons laws in Poland. Carrying a concealed handgun? [918]

Funny thing is that even if you could buy guns in Poland, you wouldn't be able to afford to buy bullets on your crappy salaries.

This shows me that you have to be a madman willing to go there voluntary. God knows why the Poles want this visa waiver program so dearly. You have to be a masochist for that.

History / Where did the power of Poland vanish to, since... let`s say, some 300 years ago? [180]

I think that besides the selfishness of the szlachta and the betrayal of the magnates (all in someone's pay), the problem is that Poland had no standing army. Nothing to compete with Prussia's army for example.

And who was against this? All these narrow-minded szlachta.
Who opposed Koszcziuzko's reforms and liberation of the serfs - and sided with the Russians? The church and the aristocracy.

Traitors? Polish neighbours took profit of the greedy nature of the schlachta. Money, that is all. I remember Edmund Burke reflecting on the insane nature of this system. The interests of one individual preceeding the interests of the nation.

A recipe for disaster. Almost everywhere in Europe at that time such foolish aristocrats lost their head upon rebelling against the Crown.

History / Polish and other Slavic nobility in our time [71]

The current Polish president belongs to the ancient Komorowski clan (as in contrast to JK who belongs I think to the recent Biedronka clan) and is also closely related to Mathilde d'Udekem d'Acoz, Crown Princess of Belgium and half Polish through her mother (Sapieha-Komorowska)

I am just waiting for the canonisation to come along - no doubt a suitable miracle will be found.

News / John Paul II's Beatification [134]

He developed easy rapport with young people,

Like that he decided that all cases of child abuse by priests should be directly refered to the Vatican - and getting buried?
I just wonder when he will be canonised. That has to be in the plan and a timetsble already decided. The Vatican is doing beatifications and canonisations according to their strategy and need.

The fact that Benedict decided that the fast-tract treatment should be applied is logical. After all he was JP's assistant, so when he glorifies his boss it also makes him looking better.

News / John Paul II's Beatification [134]

Yes, JPII will get beatified next weekend. I am not very impressed by this. Yes of course he did a lot for his country and he was one of the factors contributing in the 1989 events. (Though if Gorbachev would not have been there, it would have come to nothing). He did really a lot in promoting Polish-Jewish relations (something conveniently forgotten by all Dmowskites)

But beside of that? He had extremely conservative ideas about society. Women in the church...peadophile scandals...Forget about it.
Beatifications have always been used by the Vatican as a marketing tool. This will not change. Inventing miracles getting harder and convinving the world about them even more.
