Kutz, Sól ziemi czarnej. Pure deduction, never saw it.

Wonderful film, my cult one.

So many hateful comments on youtube.

Don`t care about idiots.

Salt of the Black Earth (Polish: Sól ziemi czarnej) is a Polish historical film taking part during the Second Silesian Uprising.[1] It was directed by Kazimierz Kutz and released in 1970.[2][3] The film was selected as the Polish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 43rd Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.[4]

Here`s a scene at 3:00 about a young Silesian insurgent who observes the Polish landscape through a German telescope. I always cry when I watch it.

or this one about a Polish officer from Krakow who dies in combat after illegal crossing the border to aid Silesian insurgents, at 3:00.

A few shots from film churches:

Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass

The Hour-Glass Sanatorium (Polish: Sanatorium pod klepsydrą) is a 1973 Polish film directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has, starring Jan Nowicki, Tadeusz Kondrat, Mieczysław Voit, Halina Kowalska and Gustaw Holoubek. It is also known as The Sandglass in English speaking countries. The story follows a man who visits his father in a mystical sanatorium where time does not behave normally. The film is an adaptation of Bruno Schulz's story collection Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass. It won the Jury Prize at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival.

History / What do Poles owe to Germans? [451]

Thanks for input. I see you haven`t changed your views.

In 1917 Germans sent Lenin and his few accolades to tsarist Russia on a mission to ignite a bolshevik revolution and overthrow the Russian government. Lenin was successful in provoking the revolt which brought about incredible chaos in Russia. Thanks to it, one of major enemies of Poland was destabilised to such an extent that, together with Germany`s and Austria`s collapse, Poland was able to regain freedom.

Why did the Germans send Lenin back to Russia?

They sent Lenin back to Russia hoping that he would foment further revolutionary activity in Russia so that Russia would withdraw from fighting Germany in World War I. The February Revolution of 1917 had already taken place while Lenin was in Switzerland. Despite this revolution overthrowing the Tsar, the Provisional Government put in place of the Tsar was still committed to fighting Germany in the war. The Germans knew that most Russians wanted to end their involvement in the war, so the German High Command knew Lenin wanted Russia out of the war, so it sent Lenin back to Russia hoping he would lead another rebellion, take control and end Russia's hostilities with Germany. Lenin led the October Bolshevik Revolution and entered into the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with the Central Powers ending Russia's involvement in the war.

Looks like Czterdziestolatek, the part where Karwowski is going through the mid-life crisis and playing the guitar.

Yes!! 40 year old - my fav comedy series ever! Very intelligent humour.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czterdziestolatek

Ok, two for you, one easy and one not so easy:

The first one is lieutenant Borewicz from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/07_zg%C5%82o%C5%9B_si%C4%99

And the other displays young Zamachowski. It is his first film from 1982 - Wielka majówka. Nice rock music soundtrack by Maanam - Zamachowski was enthralled with Kora!

Life / "Hej Sokoly" - song research [11]

hey I'm looking for as much possible information on this song as possible, I'm doing a project for a music theory class of mine,

Tell you one thing - whenever we go on holidays and are staying near a disco or club, this fekking song is always a number one. When Poles hear it, they virtually go crazy and drą mordy like hell and smash the disco into small pieces.

That is why whenever I hear it I go mad.

History / What Was Happening in Poland around 1905? [73]

What Was Happening in Poland around 1905?

Revolution, strikes, unrest, street fight.

The Revolution in the Kingdom of Poland (1905-1907) was a major part of the Russian Revolution of 1905 in Russian-partitioned Poland (see Congress Poland and Privislinsky Krai). One of the major events of that period was the insurrection in £ódź in June 1905. Throughout that period, many smaller manifestations, demonstrations and armed struggles between the peasants and workers on one side, and the government on the other, would take place. The demands of the demonstrators would include both the improvement of the workers living conditions, and political freedoms, particularly related to increased autonomy for Poland.

Genealogy / Bies ancestry [10]

Anyone ever heard of this Polish last name? Where did such families reside? What are some associations with the name?

In my childhood, my parents forced us (their kids) to go to the theatre with them. It was horrible. I remember we went to see the most boring plays, among them Biesy by Dostojewski.

Yes, that's it. Congratulations )

Shyt, I am clever!:):):)

Or not?? :):):) I only googled: Polish black and white film, Satan, Heaven, Hell, angel. That`s all.

Congratulations ) I very much recommend watching it when you have a chance.

That is extremely interesting, I thought I knew every film made in Poland, at least by the title. Somehow, that one escaped me. I can`t believe it.

You've won the right to post the next one :)

OK, let`s continue the topic of Satan and angels.

Hint: Made in 1990s.

Another hint: It was one of the first films on Divx CDs which I bought in a supermarket.

News / Dirty deeds of foreign guys in Poland [128]

So far, so good.

The response of British true patriots is as it has been expected. Thanks, guys, for not disappointing me. :):):):)

An excellent Polish proverb comes to mind: Uderz w stół, a nożyce się odezwą. Strike the table and the scissors will resound.

Sorry, Delph, but the popular myth in conservative Krakow is that British stag party tourists are the biggest problem of all. :):):):)

Not only in Krakow.

In all worst-tourist rankings the British occupy the first places. Nations who host the British consider them loud, arrogant, sloven, always drunk and mean. Additionally, they don`t know any foreign languages, so they can`t communicate and commit multiple cultural blunders.

Americans using Poland to hide from the law!

But other countries are still better to hide:
Polish border guard spokesman Cezary Zaborski said Thursday that Hamilton was apprehended Wednesday afternoon on a bus as he was heading from Poland to Denmark.

I assure you that your fellow countrymen (the American part, not the Ukrainian part) engage in far more depraved things than that in Poland.

what is the point of this thread?

Oh my God, Sean, you seem to have become so Polish within those few years you have been living here! Congratulations! I am really impressed. :):):):)

pawing, is there a hot line we can call about this? should I ring up the British embassy and scream?

Nope. It is enough when you see some Brits or Ams kicking pigeons in Krakow Main Square, don`t stay indifferent.

kicking a small animal to death is a despicable act and to me is an indicator of deep rooted problems.

Exactly.

If my post doesn't mAke sense, more the usual, blame my inability to use this phone thingy

Yes, we know about yuor problems. It is a significant excuse.

British degenerates should stop using Krakow as a place to engage in depravity.

But Krakow thrives on stag party tourists from Britain. A stoppage to their arrival means less money for Krakow! :):):):):)

Hmm, doesn't the fact that at least three Polish news sources have covered it mean that it did not go un-noticed?

I mean the PF.

Personally I'd far prefer that drunken idiots help reduce Krakow's rather than going for a drive in the manner of countless Poles in the UK

As usual, I find it extremely funny when Brit/Am members of PF immediately resort to Polish examples in such threads.... :):):):):):)
How does this proverb about wolves and learning howling from them go? ....... :):):):):):)

Another proverb which suits this situation: When in Rome, do as the Romans do? :):):):)

Harry, relax. :):):):):)

Somehow certain facts go unnoticed. Wrong!

At 2 am in the Krakow Main Square two British men lured a pidgeon to come closer and then kicked it to death. Aged 28 and 30, were detained and are awaiting trial.

Scandal : The British tortured bird on the Market !

Last night two British decided in a cruel way to kill one of the birds walking on the Main Market Square. I do not know what " tourists " came to mind, but for his cruelty to answer before the court in Poland.

Fuj!
