Food / Polish head cheese [46]

I once saw a pork chop that was covered in jelly and had half a hard boiled egg in it.

Sorry for delay, while trying to find a proper photo, I got sick and had to run to the bathroom. But I am fine now:

In old Poland they also used to eat boiled eyes of big farm animals.

Food / Polish head cheese [46]

Sorry, I wasn`t precise, probably. I love meat like tongue, stomach, kindney or tripe. I can even eat brain as can be seen in my food threads. But I refuse to eat jellied meat like head cheese. It is so revolting that when my parents once put it on the table, I nearly puked right onto it. The combination of jelly and meat is a horrid idea to me.

Picasso visits Wrocław in a Communist public relations tour-de-force.

Picasso visits Warsaw and draws a mermaid on the wall in one of newly built flats.

Pact with Stalin? What Pact?

Please, don`t distort my words. I said: pact! :):):)

Yes, but later Churchill replaced Hitler and became Stalin`s greatest ally. How simple. :):):)

? We didn't "get" Greece.?

Don`t be silly and consult the books. If you don`t possess them, try Wikipedia. The British, by Churchill`s order, executed hundreds of communist partisans in Greece in 1944/45 and Stalin closed an eye because he realised Greece was out of his reach.

Only because you ask me and I appreciate your interest in history although it is still so naive.

he certainly didn't "sell" Poland to Stalin (what did he get in return?), or do any dirty tricks

Yes, he did because Poland meant nothing to him, so when Katyn Massacre surfaced, he told Poles who made fuss about it to shut up and swallow the bitter pill. :(:(:(:

Why?
Because he wanted to win the war against Hitler and to achieve that main aim, he fully cooperated with Stalin and rejected any Polish obtrusion. Read about British and US aid for USSR during WW2.

he hated Communism and the Soviet Union.

Yes, but it was him who made a pact with Lucifer to defeat Satan. Or vice versa. :):):):)

(what did he get in return?),

Greece, for example. :)

Let me remind you the topic of this thread is Churchill and Poland. :):):):)

Certainly, the knowledge of your country`s history and its historical leaders` actions, let alone the history of Poland, is your very conspicuous Achilles` heel. Unfortunately, I don`t have time to educate you.

America is a really great country, much better than Poland.

Sorry, don`t treat it as a lack of respect, but you are wrong.

please don't post pictures that already appear in other threads. thank you.

To whom is that addressed? And am I to have an encyclopedic knowledge of what pictures are in other threads?

Relax, it was to me. Yes, after you presented the film posters, I replied with another famous poster which has become legendary today.

But I forgot I had already posted it in another thread https://polishforums.com/history/poland-communism-fell-years-ago-led-35430/5/#msg723006
on 16 July, 2009.

My bad, I am really sorry if I hurt anyone but it is sometimes hard to remember all the pics you have shown in the forum since my registration at this account in 2008.

History / Churchill and Poland [120]

How was Churchill made into a Hate figure in Poland and Stalin not?

Excuse me, but you shouldn`t formulate such categorical statements without studying Polish history and culture a bit longer than a few weeks in the forum. It is sad but I have to tell you (and don`t treat it as a lack of respect or something) that all what you wrote in your initial post is nonsense. I hope you don`t mind.

Main counter points.
1. Churchill was handled quite neutrally or even with certain dose of appreciation by communist propaganda. Communist historians didn`t want to go too deeply into the delicate matter of Yalta Conference where Poland was sold to Stalin by Churchill and Roosevelt. Apart from that, Churchill`s role in defeating Nazis was important and even communists admitted it. Why not?

2. Churchill isn`t hated in Poland. He is simply not revered here like American President Woodrow Wilson who contributed in some way to the resurrection of the Polish state in 1918. I hope there are no Churchill Streets here.

News / Dirty deeds of foreign guys in Poland [128]

But when they smoke something, they probably not able to do any crazy stuff.

Well, actually, my uni students told me they had had to close one stoned German guy in the toilet because he suddenly dreamt of flying and tried to fulfill his dream in one of Krakow tall dormitories. But I am not sure what he had smoked or drunk or whatever.

That would be even funnier. :):):)

But I saw young ethnic Germans in action during school exchanges. When they drink too much Polish beer/vodka or smoke too much stuff they bring with themselves from Germany, they can get really wild and even their own teachers can`t contain them. Crazy guys. :):):)
