Guys, the presidential election will be delayed/postponed due to the coronavirus threat.

So, the schools are going to be closed for two weeks from Monday. Secondary schools from tomorrow. We aren`t too happy about it in our school coz we are losing an opportunity to work with final year students before their school leaving exams in May. I could do one full chapter from our Revision Book. Now it will be lost.

Students won`t go on foreign exchange in April. All trips have been cancelled.

That unexpected break will also cost teachers some money - they won`t do and be paid overtime. I have had about 10 overtime classes per week.

I only worry this fortnight will be prolonged coz I don`t think the virus will have disappeared completely by the end of the break.

PS. It was exactly last Wednesday when I told my students that schools would be closed in Poland and now it was the question of not "if" but "when". I didn`t predict, though, it would happen as soon as today. I was thinking about late May, June.

So, it is a mistaken assumption coz if you look at the first diagram, you can see the birth rate started falling in 1980s and plummeted throughout 1990s, only to rise slightly around 2004 when Poland accessed the EU and the first wave of immigrants moved to the UK. So, it wasn`t emigration. Women simply refused to bear so many kids as before to their useless good for nothing partners.

First graph - birth rate since WW2 versus your The vast majority of Polish women are traditional and conservative. Unfortunately, it has been falling and will still fall. But I can understand it - women refuse to be mindless incubators and child bearers for chauvinist males. If males like you don`t change their conservative approach, nothing will reverse the trend. You can keep your traditional conservatism but for kids you will have to ask females from Mars or Orion galaxy.
