Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

Final year students still don`t know if they are going to take school leaving exams - primary school students in late April and high school students in early May. Some are already getting ready:

hahahaha I love their sense of humor.

PS. I miss them so much - having lessons online isn`t such fun as live in the classroom.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

I am cooking fuczki now which comes from Bieszczady. In short, they are sauerkraut pancakes.
Pancake mix: milk, flour, egg(s)
Other ingredients: chopped sauerkraut. I also added grated onion and chopped garlic and mushrooms. Plus spices: caraway, salt, , savory.

PS. Hmm, quite good. It seems I will make them more often. Crispy outside and soft inside. And a little sour, of course. My fav style.

Yes, Ba-64, Soviet armoured car. Can you recognise that white sign on it?

hahaha not in my field. Somewhere else. And I meant an event, not a place.

But that will give me an opportunity to ask more riddles:

What are they?

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

You are stupid coz you still live in communist times and remember the martial law of 1981. This PRL is stuck in you for good, I see. You had better read what state of emergency means today. Here is an article in simple Polish so that you can comprehende.

I forgot to add that we once went to a big spider exhibition which lasted for a year in one of Krakow`s museums.

Anybody fascinated with spiders? lovekrakow.pl/galeria/fascynujacy-swiat-pajakow-skorpionow-krakow-zdjecia_3201.html

What and where?

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

It is really amazing you are asking such infantile questions. Of course, we know you don`t live in Poland. But is it really a problem for you to read some news sites? You comprehend some Polish, don`t you? Or have you forgotten it all ?

So read and learn this: the best solution is to declare the state of national emergency which is allowed by the Constitution. Then all major events like elections are suspended and can be held 90 days after the state is lifted.

Law / Landlord forces me to pay internet+TV [17]

He/she wants to sign a contract with another operator.

Yes, but the landlord has his own contract with the internet provider of his choice. And expects the tenant to pay for it if he/she uses the Net.

It is written in the rent contract cited by the OP:

w przypadku zawarcia umowy."

In case the contract is signed. What kind of contract? Landlord`s with the provider, I presume. If it`s UPC, their contracts are valid for a year or even two. I have a two year contract.

Law / Landlord forces me to pay internet+TV [17]

Yes, the problem is he/she does want to use it. That is why I consider it a cleft-stick situation if both try to push their way.

PS. Possible solution if I were that landlord - wait till the former net contract expires and then let the tenant have his/her own choice. But the installation costs will be covered by the tenant.

yes! In Polish - oak goathorn. Isn`t it wonderful?

Or this beetle that lives underwater: golden-rimmed swimmer. In English - great diving beetle. So simple.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

Yes, in Polish - redlegged tarantula. So simple. But in case of other species, Polish names sound more attractive than English. E..g, those big tarantulas are called ptasznik in Polish - bird-catcher.

What`s its name in English and Polish?:

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

Exactly 10 years ago, Jarosław Kaczyński explicitly ordered his brother to land in Smolensk, Russia at any cost to score political gains. His decision caused a tragedy in which 96 people were killed.

Today history repeats itself. JK is ordering Poles to go to elections despite the raging pandemia. It is certain this will kill many more people than 96. How many? It seems JK wants to find it out.

He is Satan incarnate.

News / Scandals, conflicts, tensions, arguments - real life examples from Poland [492]

Scandal! Despite the quarantine regulations, the First Lady had an online meeting with high school students. Can you see they broke the law which forbids such large groups?

Thank you, PiS , for enabling students to have a chat with the First Lady coz it is what they really needed in times of the plague.

History / What proportion of the Polish population collaborated with the Nazis? [125]

Do you think they will be the best to deal with it coz it is them who strongly support the legend of nationalist NSZ as brave anticommie fighters and at the same time close an eye to their collaboration with Germans, e.g., during a famous retreat under German protection?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collaboration_in_German-occupied_Poland

In late 1944, in the face of advancing Soviet forces, the Holy Cross Mountains Brigade, numbering 800-1,500 fighters, decided to cooperate with the Germans. It ceased hostilities against them, accepted their logistical help, and coordinated its retreat to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles - part 2 [1680]

your question was fulfilled, just it wasn't the answer that you wanted,

No, it wasn`t. :):)

Coz I meant the crude number per city

What structure does Krakow have in bigger supply than any other city in the world?

while you tried to wriggle out of it with density per square kilometre

"Eastern European city has the highest density of bars in the world"

You understand it is not the same. :):)

get posting more pictures now !!!!

Hmm, why do you need to see pics? How about doing without them? You will have a chance to develop your imagination. hahaha

Let`s have a deal: every second riddle is illustrated. OK? :):)

What`s this:

Life / Owning a house in true countryside of Poland - stories [692]

Yes , I also read about it. But as I said, I try to keep it organic without harmful stuff. It is not commercial, I only play a farmer and orchard keeper.

when earthing up which you do about two or three times a season you can kill the weeds

Yes, but as I am getting older, I become more and more tired of doing it manually. I already checked out some self-propelled rotary tillers.

Get your spuds into the ground as soon as you can

Tomorrow.

I get crops with no spray or chemical fertiliser not always pretty or abundant but its ok and I know its all organic.

Yes, the best solution.

Love / What strange/unnerving/funny things do your Polish wives do? [153]

Guys, let`s talk about our Polish wives` sense of humour.

Unfortunately, some Polish wives have no sense of humour. See and watch a pato wife who critisizes her husband for playing roll of toilet paper in the room.

Oops.

Language / Cultural disparities shown through Polish and English languages [195]

In your situation the door was locked and you wanted it unlocked, so 'open' makes sense.

I see, thanks. Pity coz I thought it would be different in English, giving us an opportunity to invent another cultural disparity. :):)
