History / Roman Dmowski-Patriot, Nationalist, Anti-Semite? [252]

You had only two True or False questions to answer

That`s your typical tactic when you realise you are losing and don`t know how to save your ass in the discussion. HA!

Why are you losing? Simple: you didn`t answer my question - was bench ghetto a lie or not? :):):):)

Extra bonus points if you can explain why the above structures are so amusingly large for a community

Large? Surely, you can`t be serious. hahaha

Look at a large house in prewar Warsaw:

Jews have a long tradition of separating men and women in their community

Now you are talking about religious chasidim Jews while Jewish students discriminated at Polish universities weren`t chasidim - in fact, they were lay people, well integrated in the society, the same as Poles, except their surnames and noses.

why marauding "bench ghetto"-enforcing Poles never raised them to the ground.

Simple - Those antisemitic rulers couldn`t pull down Jewish buildings coz that would make them look the same as Nazis in Germany.

History / BEATS OF FREEDOM - A HISTORY OF POLISH ROCK MUSIC [108]

The Polish version, for me, gave them the edge.

Of course. I still remember that evening when 3 of us listened with awe to the Polish album. It was like extasy for us - we didn`t say a word until the longplay came to the end. :)

But their more aggressive English album was fascinating, too. You should know that I was also heavily influenced by Metallica - their first album Kill `Em All 1983 was utter revelation to me. I had never heard such fast musical tempo before. Metal Militia rulez! hahaha

That is why when I heard that more dynamic TSA I welcomed it enthusiastically.

then the blatant lies that are being spread about Poland by visiting Jews to your high school

Did they lie about Polish Jewish segregation aka bench ghetto at Polish universities? And demands to introduce it also in lower level schools but WW2 stopped those plans?

(they would not give their guns to runaway jews)

He probably meant that Polish underground generally refused to supply more weapons for Jewish resistance, especially before and during Ghetto Rising 1943. Poles considered it a waste of resources which they couldn`t afford. It was hard to obtain such weapons, each piece cost a lot in the black market.

Yes, exactly, coz that nasty discrimination was utter disgrace.

blah ... blah .. blah...

if you read more things on the internet, you will learn about other forms of anti-Jewish discrimination before WW2. Have you heard about the boycott of Jewish businesses?

The problem was that Polish buyers didn`t want to give up shopping in Jewish businesses which were cheaper than Polish ones and offered better customer service.

He said their was segregation in Poland for Jews and non-Jews..

Yes, the so called - ghetto benches. The lecturer didn`t lie about it.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghetto_benches

Ghetto benches was a form of official segregation in the seating of university students. The practice became conditionally legalized by 1937. Jewish university students were required under threat of expulsion to sit in a left-hand side section of the lecture halls reserved exclusively for them.

Day without Jews - we demand official ghetto!

Now if you take my thread off - topic again I will kick you in the nuts.

Johny, you shouldn`t complain. Thanks to me and other posters, your thread reached 41 posts. Let`s be honest, you would have never achieved it without us.

Now, I am planning to finish if off at 44, the mysterious, symbolic, magical number for all Poles.

Now we only need 3 more posts. If you reply, I will too and then you will have your last word to stop at 44.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

nd she counted that kids in her class have to deal with 6 different methods of transferring information from teachers to students.

That`s the norm, also in our school. Teachers were left on their own, without any support from PiS Ministry so no wonder everybody developed their own system.

kids will move directly between classes, kids won't have breaks outside the classroom, and there won't be any assemblies or other large gatherings of kids.

Soon, after a few weeks, kids will say it is Gulag camp law. :) hahaha
Seriously, it might work with the youngest from grades 1- 3. Older grades, let alone high schools, will sneeze at those rules. haha So, theory goes one way and practice another. It is so typical of PiS.

If they're coming to świetlica,

In my Repetytorium Maturalne, it is called common room. Is it a proper term or the authors duped us?

News / Thousands of Polish women attend Czarny Piątek rally in Warsaw [780]

So, it seems PiS was impressed by the scale of the latest protests and decided to shelf the decision about rejecting the Convention. They sent it to the Constitutional Tribunal which they control. There it will wait for years, just like the decision to introduce strict abortion laws, also postponed after huge protests two years ago.

Polish women rule!! Thank you, I love you all.

They were also murdering civilians that had nothing to do with the government of the day

Some stopped trains and rounded up all Jewish passengers only to execute them. Those were Jews who were returning home from camps.

USA, Canada / Is Poland accepting incoming airplanes coming from the USA? [18]

whether Poland (Gdansk) is allowing its citizens to travel to the US

Yes, of course.

And how much one way tickets are right now.

The cheapest one-way to NYC is about 1600 PLN.

If they don't open schools then people can't work

Yes, it is a hard nut to crack. In autumn, the covid infections will combine with flu infections and the hospitals will be clogged. If they open schools, infections will go up, students will transmit it onto the elderly in their families, etc.

Besides, what about equal chances in education? Some schools will do regular lessons, other online teaching. There is a difference between them.

Prepare your lessons,

I am always prepared for anything coz I possess incredible adaptation skills. If they moved us to the moon tomorrow, I could resume teaching right away.

the kids can go in masks.

haha Surely, you can`t be serious. And please, don`t answer me: I am serious. And don`t call me Shirley. I hate it.

Today Poland scored a record number of new infections, over 600. This means that despite hot temps the virus is still active and dangerous.

Everybody wonders whether schools will be opened for regular work in September.

The PiS Ministry of Education are explicitly declaring they will. What about safety? So, they are trying to shift the responsibility onto school principals - they are supposed to close down schools if the infection appears. Naturally, principals protest.

I suppose they won`t risk opening schools and we will continue online teaching.

I don`t mind - online teaching has its pros and cons, so I will try to focus on pros and forget about cons.

History / BEATS OF FREEDOM - A HISTORY OF POLISH ROCK MUSIC [108]

Polis heavy (metal) rock. The main group was TSA.

They created a wonderful love ballad in 1982.

3 Matches-

The first one...
The first one to see your eyes
The second...
the second to see your mouth
The third...
The third to see all of your face
Three matches one by one, three matches one by one
struck in the night...

Amazing music

youtu.be/A3LEKAw4z3I

It was TSA which spurred me to dislike communism even more that I had before. hahaha Curious story. In 1985 they released a very good album called Heavy Metal World. One of my metal friends was lucky to buy it (shortages of all goods!) and we listened to it in his house and copied the tracks onto our cassettes.

A few months later TSA went to Great Britain to record the album once again with English lyrics. I heard it on the radio and was thrilled coz it sounded twice better than the Polish version - the music was more dynamic, energetic, the main vocal turned aggressive and they added backup voices for all choruses. The result was amazing. I learnt the difference came from Western superiority of recording technology - Polish one was backward.

That was the last straw - communism had to fall. hahahaha

BTW, both versions are available on youtube

Compare the title song in two versions

Heavy Metal World

Polish

English

The noise of guitars, like a roar of furious lion
That's Heavy Metal Rock
Someday it will wake you up like a canon shot
Then you will find that
Noises of great cities and bustle of dirty machines
Scream of the wrathful crowd, completely deafened you
But we still have our Heavy Metal scream!

History / What do Poles owe to Jews? [593]

Wow, I almost forgot that thread exists. It used to be our fav thread in the past.

So, I quickly looked through it and can tell you we have discussed the following Jewish contributors to Polish heritage:

writers, poets and linguists such as:
Julian Tuwim
Bolesław Lesmian
Jan Brzechwa
Bruno Schulz
Stanisław Lem
Artur Sandauer
Janusz Korczak
Roman Brandstaetter
Mieczysław Jastrun
Jerzy Lec
Leopold Tyrmand
Władysław Kopaliński

Film directors (Agnieszka Holland), sportspeople (Irena Szewińska), politicians (Geremek).

We have also talked about Jewish culinary contribution: challach, carp ala Jewish, cebularz - onion pie.

Now, it is time for new concepts.

A very important one - I wonder why nobody mentioned it before. Did you know that 6-7% Polish officers executed in Katyń Massacre was if Jewish origin? They were doctors, lawyers, engineers, merchants, teachers. They felt Polish and loved Poland and didn`t renounce it during interrogations by Soviet NKVD. In result, they were marked for extermination.

In central Warsaw, among modern architecture, there is a monument honouring the victims of Soviet invasion of 17 September 1939 and to all who perished in the East. The form is of a train carriage - in such carriages people were transported to Siberia to gulag camps.

The monument contains symbols of Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Orthodox religions - all of them became objects of persecution when the USSR attacked Poland.

Poles are not and never were Nazis. .

But you are not a Pole. hahaha

This furious defence of yours suggests I touched a soft spot. So, you are a fekking Neo Nazi and finito. hahaha

Hey what is with this Jewish thingy in this thread. Stick to the topic will you?

your always enthusiastic and unquestioning philo-semitism.

Of course. Your neo-Nazi attitude to Jews is counterbalanced by my philosemitism and there is a perfect balance in nature. Isn`t it an amazingly natural harmony?? hahaha

Free your mind.

I have had a free mind about Jews since I was 18 years old. hahaha

I could continue answering other posts by the rest of Jewish haters here, but most of them are off topic :
e..g, Lew Trocki or Jewish reparations - what is their connections with Cursed Soldiers??
so I am not going to waste my time.

History / BEATS OF FREEDOM - A HISTORY OF POLISH ROCK MUSIC [108]

Yeah, you were a bit of a rocker in your youth then?

Yes, I was into rock and my favs were heavy metal, hard and punk rock.

than you and ever really got into Punk.

There were different kinds of punk. KSU played "melodic" punk - with nice tunes which you could sing or whistle on your own. After hard punk period, they calmed down a little and also played softer music.

It was an important time for Poland.

Yes, that music was relaxation and also inspiration.

Another one by KSU - melodic hard punk

On the other side of the door - 1988

I'm sitting in an empty pub, everyone has left into the dark night
The waiter collects glasses, they will kick me out again from here
Time to leave, but there is nowhere to go
Before I came here, I had slammed your door

Bitterness time, I see the bottom
Bitterness time and broken glass

History / BEATS OF FREEDOM - A HISTORY OF POLISH ROCK MUSIC [108]

The hype about rock music exploded in Poland in 1980s. The film Beats of Freedom tells the story.

ipn.gov.pl/en/news/437,Rock-in-the-Polish-Peoples-Republic-in-a-documentary-film-Beats-of-Freedom.html

At the time when life in Poland was controlled by the regime, music became a phenomenon having enormous influence on people. The "Iron Curtain" was not able to stop rock and young people, who through this music, found their space of freedom. From the beginning Polish rock was against communist reality

I think I will show the most important rock bands from 1980s. That was my fav music at the time when I was a young man and I still like listening to it.

Oddział Zamknięty - Psych Ward
Your world 1982
See the background of the song - a housing estate - a symbol of uniformity propagated by communism.

see the lyrics here: lyricstranslate.com/en/ten-wasz-swiat-your-world.html

They look, veins pricked, nightmares
Victims to their decaying brains
There's more and more of those
I'm waiting entangled in sick hands.

Chorus
What your wonderful world looks like
I know, and they know too
Branded by dreams,
Branded by dreams.

youtu.be/QxQA6WMgMBg

KSU - that was a cult punk rock group from Bieszczady Mountains. Their name was inspired by car registration plates from the area.

Against the Flow 1988

lyricstranslate.com/en/pod-pr%C4%85d-against-flow.html

First stanza

Don't ever try to go against the flow
Don't ever try to find the reasons
Don't break ranks
Because you're nothing, nothing
Don't ever try to say "no"
Don't ever try to find the reasons
The individual is, however, nothing
So are you
