Love / Smitten and Wondering [81]

So there's this cute Polish girl in her 20's

And how old are you?

but in the mean time, what do you guys think?

I think you're a piece of sh1t and a scumbag and I feel sorry for your wife.

No lectures on fidelity, religion, etc. please.

What do you want then? A pat on the back? A blessing to cheat on your wife? An advice on how to do it so your wife wouldn't know? lol

Sorry, but you're sickening to me...

How would you feel if your wife was doing what you're doing now?

Do you have kids?

If she never contacts me, so be it and hopefully time will heal.

And if she will? If she's going to be interested in you - what then? Are you going to cheat on your wife? Or will you man up and tell your wife the truth?

I somehow doubt it:

A song "Kaczka Dziwaczka" (a classic poem for kids by Jan Brzechwa published in 1939) - this video was posted only 3 years ago and has 43 mln views :)):

Then why are distinctions made only if someone is Jewish?

Not really, we also say "Polish Tatars".

Poloniusz is spot on this subject.

On what subject? He was wrong when he wrote that if Polish students had any say in the matter "Tuwim wouldn't be forced taught upon them" or that "No genuine Pole talks about Tuwim". Kids don't care who wrote a poem. Tuwim's and Brzechwa's poems for kids are fun and that's all kids care about. Those poems are already part of Polish culture, whether Poloniusz likes it or not o_O

Poland was very different before your time and is very different now and your opinions about Poland and Poles outside of the communist timeframe is done through a lens of communist education

Are you saying that parents don't read Tuwim's and Brzechwa's poems to kids anymore? I somehow doubt it:

:)

Oh, btw, they just made a new film based on "Akademia Pana Kleksa" (published in 1946) by Jan Brzechwa :))) In 2023! Those "PRL fossils"! :))))

@pawian, yes, Tuwim's and Brzechwa's poems for kids are absolute classics. I still remember my mother reading them to me. You'd have to be retarded not to know about them if you were raised in Poland o_O

classics

Work / Can any international computer science student get software development job in Wrocław or Warsaw? [45]

It has plenty...

No, it hasn't.

Since they can't make women stronger, faster, and more creative, they pussify men to drag them down to the stay-at-home mom level.

Nonsense. As I already wrote - automation isn't anything new. It's not about feminism, "pussifying men" or anything of this sort. It's the result of technological and scientific development that allows for more automation and more sophisticated automation. And the main driving force behind automation in all kinds of industries was and is chasing profit. Capitalism. Money.

See pawian.

That's a bad example, considering that pawian is the sole breadwinner in his marriage and his wife is a housewife and a stay-at-home mom :))))

This creates a need to replace the missing men with robots with different levels of intelligence.

Nope. Greed creates this need.

The chapel and cross are not oversized and not in the public's face.

The cross is hanging in the plenary chamber of the Polish Parliament. It doesn't have to be two meters long, it's enough that it's there (and, unlike Hanukkah celebrations, it's there all the time) and everyone knows about it.

No genuine Pole talks about Tuwim.

You clearly didn't go to a public school in Poland :)))

Today's students aren't interested in people they can't relate to and if they had any say in the matter Tuwim wouldn't be forced taught upon them.

Don't be silly. During my time, if students had any say in the matter, many of them wouldn't want to be forced taught upon "Pan Tadeusz" or "Nad Niemnem" :))) A lot of stuff is "forced taught upon" students at school.

And it was my mother that introduced me to Tuwim's poems for kids when I was little - by reading them to me.

No, thanks to feminism the AI revolution was necessary

No, it wasn't. "AI" at present isn't replacing factory workers, construction workers, cleaning ladies, nurses and others that are usually in short "supply" in Western countries. It's replacing people like graphic designers, photographers, programmers, journalists, writers, voice actors, etc. - jobs that "first worlders" were actually willing to do. And I'm guessing it's just going to get worse.

Also, automation isn't anything new and has nothing to do with feminism.

standing at points of entry with big smiles and big signs saying "Welcome Refugees!"

That's actually a Christian thing to do, rather than a feminist one, Mr Religious One :)))

It's female narcism and greed which brought us the problems facing the West today.

Of course not :) It's men's relentless greed :)))

That's like saying the human mind is just meat.

Nope. Atch is right. What tech bros are marketing these days as "AI" isn't an actual AI yet (the one you know from films like "Terminator" or "Matrix"). It's just machine learning.

the tech industry wants AI in order to produce value and increase profits by reducing and eliminating high costs and inefficiencies caused by labor both in the tech industry itself and other sectors of the economy.

Yes, they want to replace humans. Not just "unneeded third worlders", but your white, Christian people too.

can also, potentially, be quite dangerous if misused, so I wouldn't dismiss them with "oh, it's just another - a bit more complicated - 'Hello, World' program".

Considering the damage "AI" is doing already and what damage it can potentially do in the future, I can defenitely agree that it's not "just any software" or "like any other tool". It's not real AI yet though.

PO and PSL coalition was in power for 8 years before already. Were such things happening back then? No? So why are you writing such nonsense?

Some experts say they are, others say they don`t.

Yeah, that's why I'm confused.

Hmm ,that is weird. If the tribunal ruled that way....

Lenka, seriously? xD What's "weird" about it? We're talking about PiS here... You think that why anti-PiS protesters were holding placards with "Constitution" written on them? Because PiS was violating Polish Constitution...

Constitution

Simple You and all other Western "democracy" lovers are naive dupes.
You elect actors, not your "legal representatives". They don't represent you. You only get the invoice.

Your comment makes no sense in this particular case. The new Polish government is actually doing what they promised during the election campaign - de-PiSification of the public media. The issue is the way they're doing it. Whether they should be doing it in this particular way or not.

So, Novichok, how about you provide some constructive info?

What would it look like in the US? Let us assume that the US Congress passes a law that goes against the US Constitution. What then? Is there a body that decides whether a given law is in accordance with the Constitution or not?

I think they should at least try. This is not a good start.

True. I agree.

If there was anything illegal in their activities, I mean the new gov, they wouldn`t be doing it at all.

Pawian, read those three links I provided in my post #93 when you have more time.

Hmm, Houston, we have a certain problem... or dillema, if you will... (Ms. Civics enters the building :P)

What the hell is this circus all about??

At first I didn't know what that's all about, but now I'm better informed after reading those two articles:

wiadomosci.wp.pl/nielegalnie-niezgodnie-widowiskowo-i-skutecznie-opinia-6975865583102464a

tvn24.pl/biznes/z-kraju/zmiany-w-mediach-publicznych-tvp-polskie-radio-pap-prawnicy-komentuja-st7618696

The issue is as follows - the new government is breaking the law that was created by PiS and deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Tribunal in 2016.

So, can a government brake the law that is unconstitutional? I'm no lawyer and have no idea. I'm confused... PiS created such a mess :/

But I think I agree with almost everything that is written here:

notesfrompoland.com/2023/12/21/right-aims-wrong-methods-public-media-takeover-shows-dangers-for-new-polish-government/

My closing thoughts:

The new government could make new law that would replace the unconstitutional one, but it would be vetoed by pro-PiS president Duda. So they would have to wait two years to make that change - until next presidential elections. I know it's sh1tty that for two more years taxpayers money would be wasted on PiS propaganda, but I personally could live with it. I would simply continue boycotting public/PiS media. And can't the government lower the funding for TVP in the meantime?

What do you guys think about this mess?

Life / History likes to repeat itself in Poland - Where does this famous saying come from? [19]

"Historia lubi się powtarzać w Polsce"? Never heard it in my life

Me neither and I'm Polish, born in Poland and I have lived all my life in this country... Of course, someone may choose to put such a twist on this saying by adding "in Poland" or some other country, but normally people just say "Historia lubi się powtarzać":

In your free time, look up "civil disobedience"

I could understand that if it wasn't possible to protest in a normal way in Poland and if it was about something important. But it wasn't the case. Especially that Braun is not just some ordinary Joe, he's a leader of a political party and an MP. He has every means to be heard.

Did you know that the Warsaw Uprising was against the law?

What law? What on Earth are you talking about? lol

And so was the bombing of Dresden...

And unnecessary. Just like Braun's stunt.

They had to be exterminated

Lenka, as you can see - Novichok is simply evil.

the US exterminated Saddam

No, they didn't. He was sentenced by an Iraqi National Tribunal.

and his sons

Another of your detached comparisons. Saddam sons were adults and they weren't executed, but killed during a gun battle:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Qusay_and_Uday_Hussein

"The operation originally intended to apprehend them, but turned into a four-hour gun battle outside a fortified safehouse which ended with the death of the brothers, Qusay's son Mustafa, and a bodyguard, Abdul Samad al-Hadushi."

And now....Israel doing it to Hamas - including thousands of children. It works very well, doesn't it?

You're f*cked up.

, Mr. Braun's commendable act

There was nothing "commendable" about it. Braun not only broke the law, but what he did was also simply disrespectful, primitive and stupid. I hope that hateful lunatic will pay for this.

They didn't occupy the streets - the protesters did lol The opposition also didn't occupy the whole Parliament :)) And you probably forgot that PiS caused this crisis:

AmaSSing developments. PiS has begun the occupation of their state TV headquarters.

Whenever I think that PiS can't surprise me with any insanity anymore - they do something like this o_O What the hell is this circus all about?? When PiS won elections 8 years ago they completely took over the public media and opposition parties weren't occupying TVP building because of that lol Have PiS politicians lost their minds completely? They can't possibly be that deluded, so I'm guessing it's some kind of show for PiS voters. 🤔

I respect Russia for several reasons. The first one that comes to mind is how they asked their royals to step down. Western Europe should do the same

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_the_Romanov_family

"While waiting for the smoke to abate, the killers could hear moans and whimpers inside the room. As it cleared, it became evident that although several of the family's retainers had been killed, all of the Imperial children were alive and only Tatiana was injured.

The noise of the guns had been heard by households all around, awakening many people. The executioners were ordered to use their bayonets, a technique which proved ineffective and meant that the children had to be dispatched by still more gunshots, this time aimed more precisely at their heads. The Tsarevich was the first of the children to be executed. Yurovsky watched in disbelief as Nikulin spent an entire magazine from his Browning gun on Alexei"

As someone born in an European country you can't be that ignorant, can you?

He can't possibly be that ignorant. I think he's simply evil.

Yes, making jokes about how Russian cosmonauts always f*ck **** up, and then responsible Americans have to fix it.

I'm not even sure if this is a dialogue from the movie - Chekov is a very intelligent and professional character (and likeable). Have you seen those films?

I think in that movie they discovered a drunk and crazy Russian cosmonaut

As for cosmonauts who like to have a drink... :) "Gravity" is literally one of two Hollywood movies where there's a positive Polish character (and not stupid)... or rather with Polish roots... that I can recall... And, of course, he dies:

Kowalski

And this one:

Kowalski2

What they have in common is the surname Kowalski and that they both die :)) To be fair - they're sacrificing themselves for the right cause (which Novichok would qualify as "stupid" anyway :)))

Oh...please stop it....try to be a German in Hollywood!!!

Exactly :)))))

Poles need Russians

Nope. No, thank you.

I think the same applies for Poles

Maybe for PiS kind of Poles (who need enemies to thrive, apparently). Not getting invaded, killed, raped, robbed, occupied, lied to on daily basis, etc. - I personally like that kind of "boredom".

They need dead heroes more...

We wouldn't need heroes if it wasn't for countries like RuSSia.
