Love / Should I forgive my cheating Polish girlfriend? [73]

as she will begin to realise what she has lost, so I really am just preparing myself...

she hasn't lost anything. she is getting a good length from someone else. her needs are still taken care of.

at the moment she is still very mixed up

only with regard to herself. not you.

News / The Political Circus of Poland [306]

Their joy is doubled by the fact that one medalist, shot putter, kicked the German ass, while the other, weightlifter, kicked the Russian ass.

winning olympic gold, in these events by, 3cms and 130grams are great achievements, but it ain't kicking ass. besides, all these competitors seem to be good mates, which makes a mockery of anyone elses ill feeling towards country of origin.

Travel / What is the ugliest city or town in Poland? [89]

I suppose you didn't see the stadium lit up,

Did you check out Wrocław's Rynek? :/

as i've said before.... it's just like any other german city center.

the president of Wroclaw should feel ashamed of himself, really!

there are times when i feel this is true.

Even the stadium in Wroclaw is ugly, big grey round thing, looks like a prison.

from the road it does look awful. reminds me of a sack of spuds.

UK, Ireland / Raising Bilingual Children - How are you teaching your children? Your experiences? [74]

You sir have just done your children a huge disservice.

i'm not so sure.

english is what is needed now, any other language learnt at school will be done with peers, Polish can be slotted in with words and phrases and more defined learning later. Polish is always available in the Gruffi_Gummi household as well as whatever asian language his wife speaks.

History / Anyone know the name, if true... .... Polish Royal heir [40]

It is unclear if my background is Polish or something similar in the region.

in trying to answer the question you are starting at the wrong end.

with genealogy/family history you should start in the present and work backwards.

birth, death, marriage records

naturalization records.

social security records

ship's records (ellis island records)

church records (in Poland)

Most important is to speak to as many living family members as possible and write down what they say.

stories like yours almost always have a hint of truth. i suspect there may have been a noble in the family, but not a prince.

this man you are looking for may have been the son or grandson of a person of note ... and was living off his family history.

News / Topless sunbathers acquitted in Szczecin, Poland [128]

If most normal guys want to see women's breasts, they just ask their wives or girlfriends nicely.

i have just asked... and got a slap across the face.

best not to ask when she's taking tea with the vicar.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudity_in_film

I don't remember any nudity there (and no I wans't watching it on Polish tv)

the two stars were naked when they jumped into a river. the shot was filmed from a distance, but it was possible to see that the actors were male.

Nudist beaches aren't popular in Poland, even during the summer. Sunbathing topless is still taboo in Poland. I've lived in Poland since last summer and never seen a topless woman at a beach in Poland.

you haven't seen topless women on the beach because until you started posting you had no idea where these (topless) beaches were.

Search it on YouTube.

no need. like i said, for the most part most Poles couldn't give a damn about nudity.

News / Topless sunbathers acquitted in Szczecin, Poland [128]

Swearing and nudity is almost always censored on Polish TV. But i am wondering why ? Why is sunbathing topless so taboo and illegal in Poland ?

Well i wish i could find some articles about Polish women sunbathing topless ...but sadly Polish girls don't go topless for fear of harassment and fines.

simply: there is plenty of swearing on Polish tv. there is more bare flesh than on british tv and certainly more than on american tv.

we do have nudist beaches, although not too popular at this time of year.

the thing is that Polish people don't make an issue out of it. excecpt for the occasional case.

Life / 200zl mandat and 3 points for not wearing seatbelts? [75]

That's true, but from the way he writes I think he's British

then he should know better. the law regarding seatbelts is just the same over there.

krakman is looking for any and every possible excuse and trying to put the blame elsewhere.

Life / 200zl mandat and 3 points for not wearing seatbelts? [75]

Or, you can burn alive in your car, because seatbelts kept you in place. Think about it.

i don't have to think about it. i know of one case where it happened. and all because none of the passersby had a knife to cut the belt.

But seatbelt, it is just my own life.

my wife and I were pulled for no reason other than not wearing belts.

you are responsible for ensuring that your passenger is wearing a seatbelt.

Love / Valentines Day & Polish men [130]

i think kasia will be disappointed next week though!!

with all that's going on around him he may change his opinion. kasia may still get a red rose.

BTW, it's a red rose here and whatever extra the male of the species can think of.

we don't have those big, expensive, padded valentines cards here.

he looked totally surprised and said no.

Valentines Day is a recent thing in Poland. Older folk might not bother with it and a certain few who object to western traditions might also ignore it. It's one of those days whereby one looks an utter twat for not buying something, just because the next man did.

History / Polish inventors - what have they ever given to the world? [101]

Mods, are accusations of mental illness acceptable on this forum?

Unless Des Essientes is a doctor or at least qualified in a field dealing with mental illness, I would not take his comment seriously.

That, of course, may lead us to think that, if Des Essientes has no idea about mental illness, then he is in fact trolling/flaming.

I am in fact qualified to deal with those who troll/flame and would remind both members and guests that repeat offenders will be suspended for ever increasing periods.

If I were to as much as suspect that Des Essientes were trolling/flaming I would suspend him for up to two months.

However, there is also the point that if members or guests try to instigate the removal of a particular person: then they may go first.

In other words: Behave yourselves, each and all.
