In 1970s, the communist party led by First Secretary Gierek adopted the propaganda policy of Poland as the 10th economic power in the world.

In the summer of 1944, the Holy Cross Brigade committed at least two murders of Jews. One of the witnesses to its activities said: They brought a Jewish family of three people, including a 4-year-old child (a boy), from the village of Sulków to my village [Czaryś near Włoszczowa]. The family was placed in the granary of Stanisław Stępniak, where after 3 or 3 days the aforementioned Jewish family was taken to the Czaryska forest near the village of Wola Czaryska, where they were shot there. (...) After a few days, the Żbik men caught three Polish citizens of Jewish nationality, men aged about 20 to 25, who were also taken to the forest and shot . The information about the crime against three adult Jews was confirmed in the unit's chronicle. It results from it that the men wanted to join it, thinking that it was an AL squad.

More about hideous murders of innocent Jews as well as of righteous Poles/Polesses who were hiding them:

On May 7-8, 1944, members of the same commander's unit entered Giebułtów. There, they discovered a group of Jews hiding at Konieczny family`s house. The NSZ men led them out into the forest. There, they managed to shoot: Majer Matusiński, his wife Rywka and their four children; Hinda Herszkowicz and her three children, and Tauba from the Lejzorek family. Several other captured Jews managed to escape. One of them, Chil Lejzorek, reached a neighboring village, where local peasants handed him over to the Germans. The Jews abducted from Giebułtów did not resist, because the NSZ men told them that they wanted to help them and take them into their unit.
The course of the murder is known, among other things, thanks to Konieczny's testimonies, Home Army documents, testimonies of NSZ members, and accounts of the surviving victims. The Gestapo or the German gendarmerie were informed about the pogrom. The officers arrived at the scene and murdered Konieczny's daughter and wife .
