In Poland he was famous for his prose. I can`t recall any poem by him. Opposite to his novels or short stories. Some were so good they were adapted into films which became masterpieces of the Polish cinema;

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]
The film about Warsaw Robinsons is entitled The Invincible City, made in 1950.
Here it is. Sorry, no Polish subs. But you don`t need to watch the whole film. It is enough to watch some scenes. E.g,, Germans blowing up and burning the buildings which were still standing after 5 years of war. The scene starts at 1:04:48 with German officers talking about destroying the city completely.
Another memorable scene is at 32:22. Germans, before destroying the city, looted it. They took all commodities which were of value, e.g, furniture and musical instruments. Even bedsheets. Incredible. A German SS officer starts playing the piano that was moved out onto the street from a tenement house. During his performance, other Germans execute Jews captured in the ruins.
Do you remember that famous scene from The Pianist when Szpilman plays the piano for a German officer?

Well, it isn`t artificial, it is still young coz it was created in 1991.
And their national identity and support for an independent state has been immensely strengthened by the mad Russian invasion.
Now they know Ukraine`s destiny is the cooperation and integration with free and democratic Europe and staying away from Russia.
Ukrainians have just removed the old Soviet symbol from the tallest monument in their country, replacing it with their national sign - trident.
Ukraine was anyway artificial state.

Yes, but being much older than you, I can tell you it has always happened to films and series which are book adaptations. :):) They do it to show they don`t depend solely on the original but are also able to create sth new on their own. These new ideas are usually shyt, but they don`t realise it.
Starting with the basic thing, the choice of actors by Netlfix evokes mixed feelings - Geralt is OK, Ciri, too. But Yennefer of a complete disaster.

Indeed, PiS scored a series if failures when it comes to defending Polish skies. Last year it was a Russian mock missile which flew over half Poland and they couldn`t find it, a few weeks ago Belarussian balloons, a few days ago their choppers. Losers!

Interesting translation of Locomotive by Julian Tuwim. The original poem is written in amazing Polish which nicely renders the whizzing and puffing sounds of the engine. The translator, Michael Dembinski, managed to retain it in English very well.

There is sth much worse - PIS is using state assets to run their own campaign. E,g, they granted themselves 2.5 million PLN for promoting free highways, one of their campaign promises. The promotion of another promise, 800+ benefit, will cost 10 million PLN. All Poles will have to pay for it.
That is only one single example which shows how PiS is destroying democratic European standards in Poland.
