History / The word Murzyn in Polish culture [28]

Female negr radish: my fave winter veg - it is healthy, spicy, crunchy, firm, durable.

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

Maybe the new cat thought he was going to be top dog.

I suppose he was stressed and panicky seeing stranger cats other than his mum. Fear unleashes aggression.

He's beautiful though

Again, my fave black. And these white whiskers, not so spectacular in the photo, are really amasing at a closer look.

30 inhabitants of the village of Liszki murdered by Germans

It is amasing that the inscription on the plaque was changed. A few years ago the old plaque fell off the monument and broke - it read hitlerites, not Germans. They changed it into Germans on the new one.

Do you know why?

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

The new cat. He hasn`t got a name yet. 2 months old and still sways a little when walking.
I feared violence and fights. They took place on Sunday and Monday, indeed, but were provoked by the new comer, not older cats. He targeted Ginger - probably had never seen a red-haired cat before.

While Black Pearl has been utterly scared of the baby and has been hiding on the fridge or top shelves to avoid the contact. We didn`t know she can be so sensitive and fragile.

Now all brutalities and fears are slowly subsiding and the cats seem they will get along well.

History / November 11th, what does it mean to you? [24]

he did not aknowledge the patriotism of young Poles

But I did, mongrel. I said they ousted rightists from power due to their sheer unconstrained patriotism .

If Pawian, is an actual teacher

But I didn`t do anything special. I only told my students to attend the ballot and thank those who had turned students` lives into misery. It is so little that it doesn`t count.

That is I must say you are exaggerating as usual, Being an Am pimp, you know little about Polish teachers or students. Go back to your pros. Ha!

News / Time to clean the swamp - dePiSification of Poland [324]

Today, two dePiSification acts took place during the first new Parliament session after the memorable elections of 15 Oct which ousted PiS gangsters.

Firstly, Warsaw residents removed the barriers which PiS bolsheviks put around the Parliament building in 2016 to block patriotic citizens protesting against breaking the Constitution and democracy by rightists.

Secondly, an infamous PIS Speaker of the previous Parliament was turned down for the position of a deputy Speaker by the democratic coalition. She had earned a bad fame for herself for various underbelt tricks she had played on the opposition parties. E. g. she annulled and reassumed the voting when the results were unfavourable for PiS gangsters at the first attempt. She did it three times.

Can you imagine??????

The new coalition is intent on cleaning the swamp to the very bottom.

Clap! Clap! Clap! hahahaha

Holy words by Donald Tusk:

"Those who broke the principles, rules and violated the Constitution will be punished, not elected for new positions," said Donald Tusk, the leader of the Civic Coalition, on Sunday - a day before the first session of the Sejm of the new term. "This is the foundation of the new order," added the candidate for prime minister.

How strongly are Poles sure that president Duda defend Poland's interests ?

That PiS puppet azhole doesn`t defend Polish interests, he defends the interests of PiS gangsters. How? The new coalition has a crushing majority in the new Parliament which they proved today by choosing their Parliament speaker and deputy speakers Yet, Duda has just appointed PiS gangster Prime Minister called Pinocchio to form a new gov. Pathetic azholes, indeed, both of them.

Shame on you, Duda and Morawiecki azholes, for playing your dirty games with Poland .

Life / Wszystkich Świętych (All Saints Day) // Dzien Zaduszny (All Souls day) [96]

The past events like WW2 are still remembered in Polish cemeteries.

Here, a monument to:
30 inhabitants of the village of Liszki murdered by Germans during the pacification on 4 July 1943.
There are hundreds monuments like that in Poland.

The inscription next to the symbol of Fighting Poland reads:

"Passer-by, tell the Motherland that those faithful to its laws rest here"

News / 11th November Independence Day in Poland [73]

Accidentally. in Poznan city, people consume tons of St Martin`s croissants on 11 Nov - the custom originated in 19th century, long before the independence that Poland regained in 1918.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

I did individual testing on students, I gave them a little bonus due to Women`s Day. So, if student deserved 4+ for written assignment or oral presentation, I gave them 5- or even full 5 (B)

I repeat the procedure on other special days. E.g. Independence Day whose celebration fell on last Friday 10 Nov yesterday.

Why? Because I fekking can and will. :):):)
Also, I want my students to start associating the national holidays with sth positive in their lives.

Why don`t I give up testing students on such days at all to make the atmosphere even more pleasant?

Coz I am too old and conservative for that. I strongly believe students should study hard and be prepared for class regardless of anything. Despite all my pranks and joking in class, I treat my job very seriously.

Life / Funeral Traditions in Poland [68]

I didn't think anyone would be that much of a cheapskate as to have one

80% gravestones are good quality granite or marble. The rest are terazzo - about 15% or earth ones - 4%. Plastic makes less than 1%.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

The opposition parties promised to increase teachers` salaries/wages during the campaign and they seem to be really intent on it.

But money isn`t everything. I am a pessimist and predict that the leftist ideas which have been gradually adopted into Polish education before and promoted by rightist PIS will remain.

I already told you about homework before. In case you forgot, read here:
https://polishforums.com/study/poland-various-education-school-issues-84668/23/#msg1902239

Another leftist regulation which I consider extremely harmful is that students can improve the marks they got in tests.

Now, let`s see what mess it introduces:

- I have to prepare a new version of the test which takes time.
- Students who retake the test don`t participate in class which I am doing with other students.
- Any mark can be improved - not only Fs, Es but also Cs !!! Imagine how much time is wasted on all these procedures, starting with discussing the date and material of the new test.

- Some primary schools allow improving your marks as many times as students wish. It is crazy. In my high school class, they have only one chance.

We will never allow this. Long live Bambo.

Yes, Alien. We, people of the old generation, are so fond of Bambo that we will defend him to the bitter end.

I wouldn't say it's something special.

Yes, it is ordinary plastic, not even acrylic. Economical class, sort of.

Yes, it is special in the Polish cemetery coz you can wander through the acres of gravestones and you won`t see a plastic one. :):):)

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

Tomorrow I am going to drive 50 km to pick up a young cat whose pics a friend of ours showed to us today during our independence day party. He is not cute - just beautiful. The decision took little time, as always, - we are adopting him!

I wonder if Goddess is still guiding me in my cat choices like each time before. Simply speaking, will he prove such a wonderful cat as we are used to??

Natural or artificial?

It is artificial.

And it isn`t aluminium coz it costs too much. And scrap metal thieves would immediately steal it.

I would advise you to go back and check Alien`s comment on it. It is a big hint.

Life / The Polish Wedding - What is it Like in Poland? [338]

EXACTLY!!!! Thanks. I know I can always depend on you. :):):)

The song about travelling by train is a perfect one for a line dance where people simulate being carriages while the leader is the engine.

Here is a short vid from sb`s wedding party - funny coz in one moment the front "carriages" speed up and the ones behind them have to run.

He played Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World".

I wouldn`t play it at a funeral. The deceased person might feel uncomfortable listening to the song about the wonders of the world which he/she just had to leave. Why should we aggravate their misery even more???

Granite?

Sorry, no. If it was such typical material, I wouldn`t have asked about it at all coz it is common in Polish cemeteries.

Hint - it is sth special. :):):)

a Polish journalist started a conga line durin

Yes, but their music was accidental pop or disco.
While the wedding line dance is based on one traditional song, decades old now, and specific context. Which exactly??

It is also danced on other occassions, e.g, prom balls in high schools.

Is it only a southern Poland tradition, then, that nobody knows???

old age.

You are incessantly wrong, Pimpek. Half of that wedding guest assembly was quite young. Why are you so mentally deficient, I wonder??? Is it polluted American water or sth else which badly affects your basic brain functions??? hahahaha
