a hike in the mountains or to Masurian lakes

Such trips are also organised at schools but a trip to Warsaw is a must for each Polish student. Capital, after all.

The cover art will be Pawian's portrait.

It's the merry month of May. decorating roadside shrines,
an old tradition during May.

Yes, majówka in Polish. But not only decorating - they come and say prayers and it lasts an hour or more. Most believers stand but a few days ago at a certain location I saw them sitting on specially installed wooden seats.

Life / Polish patriotic tattoos [45]

Because suspects enjoy the right to remain anonymous. Later on you might run into the guy or guyess in the street and recognise them by their tattoos as the ones having problems with the law.

The same applies to police officers. Some prefer to stay in the backstage of the legal procedures. :):):)

Yes! Normally, it is almost orange on the body and legs but the one above probably flew over a very polluted area.

What is happening and why?

Someone reading from lips?

Yes, exactly!!! It has been proven a few times here that inquisitive reporters hire lip reading specialists to find out what some politicians said in semi private situations. I suppose those specialists can also be hired by various agents. Hence, the need for secrecy. However, I only saw photos of rightist politicians doing it. Nobody else does. It suggests they really don`t want their dirty deeds surface.

to do with Pegasus spyware?

When I said innovative, I meant the new efficient lip reading techniques which have been developed recently. Sorry if I misled you. :):):)

Another riddle: what is the case???

Many schools and over 150 boy scouts teams in Poland are named after Jan Bytnar.

And his and his buddies` graves in the Merit Cemetary are regularly visited by students who come to Warsaw on school trips. I took my students there, too.

the conversation overheard.

You are right about secretive. But not overheard. There was nobody near them. It is the secrecy of another kind.

No it isn't.

It is in the first photo.

I would call his action prudent.

yes, rightists are prudent when they plan their dirty deeds, indeed.

King of Poland President Duda

You offend the true King of Poland, Jesus, now. Please, don`t. It is a serious matter and such flippant approach as yours is inappropriate.

What time frame are we talking?

It doesn`t matter in this riddle. And the names of these two people shown in pics don`t matter, either. Nor their function, although I admit such a behaviour is prevalent among politicians. It is the unusual style of what they are doing which matters. Why such?

Let`s start with basics - what exactly can we see???

News / Local elections - anyone care to comment? [75]

where they won initially but lost power due to renegade rightist politicians who decided to join their opponents.

Rightists practised the same tricks after the previous elections in 2019 when they ruled Poland - they bribed opposition politicians to join them for positions and perks. In this way they took over the Lower Silesia voivodship.

That is why they indignant whining over their own politicians doing the same thing but in the reversed direction sound so hilarious. :):):) Karma always returns, boys and girls.

News / Local elections - anyone care to comment? [75]

The election took place in April. In the elections citizens chose councils for their local areas as well as members for little parliaments which rule the whole voivodship. There are 16 voivodships aka districts in Poland.

As it had been expected, rightists lost in major and medium cities, won in the towns and the countryside.

As for little parliaments, they also lost in most - see orange parts of Poland which were taken over by the pro democratic parties. Blue is where rightists won. The crossed area of Podlaskie voivodship is the one where they won initially but lost power due to renegade rightist politicians who decided to join their opponents. The question mark is on Lesser Poland voivodship where two rivaling rightist factions can`t settle their quarrel who should become the leader of the little parliament.

Law / Zloty lifts Poland's Economy [58]

The zloty has not been as strong as it is now for a long time. One euro costs approximately PLN 4.25, which is the lowest value in over four years. Since the historical maximum in March 2022, when the common currency cost PLN 5, it has become cheaper by 75 groszy.

In turn, one dollar costs approximately PLN 3.92, which is one of the lowest levels recorded since the beginning of this year. Counting from the historical peaks of September 2022, when the dollar cost almost PLN 5.06, the American currency has lost more than PLN 1.10 in value.

Technical analysis specialists assume that if the euro's downward rally continues, further depreciation of the common currency is possible towards PLN 4.23 and then even to PLN 4.13, which would be the lowest value since February 2018.

Life / Why Poles are so much different than other slavic nations? Poland must return to mother Poland. [38]

altough they are a bit cold if they dont know you

Of course. How should one be warm if you don`t know who you are dealing with??? What if you encounter a rightist party supporter????

That is why I also prefer to be cold in the beginning and warm up to the person after I get to know her/him better and am aware they are decent intelligent people who don`t vote for rightists or nationalists.

I suppose it is a completely normal approach here in Poland.

News / What should Poland do with the problem of Belarus? [1800]

Step by step, we are educating Lukashenka that bringing illegal immigrants to the Polish border is unprofitable in the long term.
Poland and EU also needs to ban the import of chemicals from Belarus. And they are finished.

Travel / Greatest Old Towns in Poland [74]

Why assimilate,

Probably in order not to annoy locals when they see how aliens trample on the old traditions. :):):)

Anyway, back to the topic, square

Wrong! Sticking to the topic here is discussing Old Towns, not market squares. :):):) You see? Arguing with people and apes blinds you.

Szydłowiec

You probably meant Szydłów - I can`t blame you coz those names indeed may look similar to British eye.

Szydłów is a peculiar place coz its historical Old Town is the only district in it - the whole town is located within the medieval city walls which were reconstructed a few years ago.

Life / Polish songs with religious motifs [23]

Thats not funny at all, its horrible,

No, it is wonderful.

Worldwide it's probably more common within Catholicism than Protestantism.

Yes. Moritz. the Jewish protagonist of the appraised Promised Land book and film adaptation complains that the protestant church is too strict and threatening to him, so he prefers to visit catholic churches for mass service.
