And welcome to the Polish forums.

What can I do to make him feel like home?

Try to set up a cheap means of communication between where he is in Mexico and his family in Poland.
Skype is free and you can also have a webcam so he can see his family.

Every now and again try to have "Polish night" when the dinner is Polish, with Polish music and a shot of wodka ;)

Contact the Poland Embassy in Mexico and the Mexico Embassy in Poland and inform them of your move, give all your details, find out of any meetings they have of Polish ex-pats in Mexico.

Is there any specific information you are looking for?

I have to say, because the place you are looking for means 'glade', there could be more than one. The Bieszczady are a long mountain range in the south east of Poland.

all I know is it was Polana, Austria in 1910. Any ideas?

This could be got to do with the Partitions of Poland between Russia, Germany and Austria. But I am not sure about the year 1910.

we have a pair of these near my place of work. i've spent the last three years trying to photograph them, but it's almost impossible.

'Almost', so there is hope, keep trying, they'd be a delight to see.

Nop, genes are not nationalistic. The term Swede, Pole is used for identification as a matter of conveneicne, but the concept of nation is a recent concept and has to do with culture not genetics. Genetic markers show you who is related to whom.

These people are idiots, it is not a debate in the scientific community, it is a conspiracy theory.
HIV is linked to AIDS not poverty.
You should know that, no?

As well, many deny that HIV causes AIDS. Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa, and Robert Mugabe, current President of Zimbabwe, have both suggested AIDS stems from poverty rather than HIV infection.
