Study / Question about studing Polish history and culture [20]
I think that it is time for Poles to remember the huge contribution that Polish Jews have made to Polish history and culture.
Stanislaw Lem was one of those many great talents.

UK, Ireland / Polish cities and their UK twins [34]
Poland does have some wonderful parks, especially in Warsaw.
But they are no match for the parks in larger cities, like London or in the USA.
I now hear that even these are now under threat by developers.
In my opinion, a nation that largely lives in apartments rather than houses,
need these spaces more than most.
Opinions?
Torun is a wonderful Polish city, birthplace of Kopernik and the Gingeer bread capital of Poland, which came to Poland from Germany during the Hanseatic period....it also has some great Gothic architecture.

I actually think it is unfair to compare Polish/European policing tactics to America.
America has a much greater level of violent crime than Europe.
Guns are much more easily available in America and Americans are more scared of violent crime than Europeans and righty so.
Police in America therefore react much more violently than European police to counter this extreme violence that Europeans struggle to comprehend.
George Floyd was a bad guy, but he did not deserve to die for using a counterfeit 20 dollar bill.
Derek Chavin was a bad cop.Unstable, violent and with some other social and mental problems.
But I object to people now referring to him as a white supremacist.
There are people out there, both black and white, who just want to stir up some kind of race war.
Don't let this happen.
It will benefit only the extremists on both sides.

What you fail to understand, is though that does happen, it is pretty rare in europe.
We do not have the American gun problem that kills so many people,almost on a weekly basis.....one day, you guys may work it out, but I ain't holdin my breath....
I would be interested to know what tactics a Polish policeman would resort to say if you were holding an illegal gun

Yeah, Europe has always had mixed cultures, either by invasion, royal marriage or agreements.
And to be fair, in rhe main, I think it has, in the end, benefited all of us.

Yeah, I know, and like many of the greatest Polish cities, has fine German architecture too.
I have seen this in France too, in Alsace,(Elsass?) Which was also a disputed region.
Strasbourg, Colmar and the whole region looks very pretty and very German.

Abortion is never simple.
It involves many situations, circumstances and peoples mental health.
In general, I would oppose abortion wherever possible.
But I can envisage situations where it is the least worst option.
A very emotive and sad subject.
