Life / Surviving the Polish Winter [27]

was wondering whether to purchase myself some warm clothing before flying over

depends where you are flying from. If from the USA, buy it there, clothing is cheaper in the states.

I've heard it can get as low as -20C

it can, but not that often. the coldest areas in Poland are the northeast, then the east and southeast. northwest and southwest have milder winters.

Life / My neighbours in Poland are stealing all my things [180]

It is a well known fact

No it isn't.

They gave up.

Then they are either quitters, or dolts. They should have just bought or built a fence instead of fooling around with expensive landscape shrubbery.

It is a well known fact that the Poles will steal everything even things 'nailed down'.

While living in the United States Randompal has had 3 bikes stolen. Number of bikes stolen while living in Poland: zero.

Traveling on trains too is very dangerous in Poland.

Randompal has never had a problem on any train in Poland.

News / What do you think about what the Kaczynskis say about Germans ? [90]

Poland would be today looking at the demographics of a country of 66 million

conjecture.

I just wondered how Poles react on what they say about Germany

It's fine that they are fighting for Poland's rights, but the way that they do it makes them look like total bumpkins. Most educated Poles are embarassed of their overall style.

You throw a stick and the dog runs and fetches whereas other races speak their minds and tell the truth.

the fact that this person thinks a dog is a "race" speaks volumes

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

In Religion, Just like Politics and Business, you're bound to find a few bad apples on the tree.

Don't know about the religion, but as far as politics and business go the whole tree is usually rotten, minus a few decent apples here and there.

UK, Ireland / Anti-Polish sentiment of England [253]

There is no place for muslims arabs in Europe.

No place for Arabs in Europe or no place for Muslims in Europe? Because as you well know, they are not always one and the same. But just so we're on the same page, it's not OK for Arabs to come here, but it's OK for Poland to go to Iraq to help Uncle Scam liberate some oil from those uppity camel jockeys?

Randompal would like to see all the cheesy stag party holiday Brits who come to Poland for a cheap beer go home, because they are not wanted.

Life / I don't understand why my girlfriend wants to live in crime-prone Krakow [37]

Randompal has some advice for you:

If your girlfriend tried living in the States and didn't like it, do her a solid by trying life in her country (maybe if you end up hating Poland but you still love eachother you can agree on a comprimise and move somewhere else in Europe later).

You can always go back to the States if things don't work out - as you probably well know, one doesnt lose one's citizenship just because one moves to another country for a while.

Why mention that you are poor? You are not poor (Randompal hates that word), just financially troubled. Being financially troubled in America is no different than being financially troubled here - except that here you at least get your healthcare covered, which is one less worry.

As a native speaker of English, you can always make some cash as an English teacher - the pay isn't so bad, Randompal knows many people in Warsaw who make a decent living doing it.

If you move here and it doesnt work out, you can always go home. If you stay home without giving it a shot, you may regret it for the rest of your life.

Randompal logic: An attachment to your country is no different than an attachment to a nice piece of ass. Say good bye and move on but don't burn your bridges, you never know when you may get back together. Countries are like girls, there are quite a few out there that can make you happy, it just depends on who you're with...

By the way: Polish cities aren't as stratified by income (although this is changing) lik American cities are. This means that in one building you can have a desperately impoverished pensioner living next door to an investment banker, and this is especially true in older buildings. If your house is consistently broken into, Randompal suspects any of the following may be true:

1. You or your girlfriend have a big mouth and all the neighbors know/think there is a rich American living there.
2. You have an old door with flimsy locks (a theft-resistant door costs about 1200 zloty and I recommend it for your piece of mind)
3. Your apartment number is 13 and you will be cursed there until you move out (but Randompal is not superstitious)

Good luck, Randompal wishes you a positive and productive stay in Krakow!

you are going to have a much poorer life in Kracow than Florida and the girls sounds like a liability

Randompal disagrees with this statement, which is not based on fact in the least. Randompal did nicely for himself in the USA with a relatively comfy middle-class lifestyle and Randompal does equally nicely for himself in Warsaw, although a little extra cash would be welcome. Living in America is no guarantee that you will attain financial success, just like it is not foretold that by moving to Poland you will be forced live like a bum.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

would be interested to hear your views on Racism in General.

Randompal postulates that every suckling babe is worth its weight in gold and then some, no matter what the color or nationality. They turn into racist fools once they start going to school, reading the papers, and watching television. Once they start believing whatever the politicians say without questioning almost everything, their transformation is complete - dumb ignorant racist prikcs.

Life / Opinions about Radio Maryja [134]

does anyone have any opinions about what this station is really about ?

Randompal is armed with both facts and opinions.

Fact: Father Rydzyk is known as "Father Director" and he is a media magnate. His empire consists of a radio station with a rather broad reach, a newspaper, and he also runs a college. His operations are based in ToruĊ„, Poland. As a businessman he is quite successful, which affords him substantial political clout. He is sometimes criticised for homphobic and anti-semitic remarks.

Opinion: The Father Director is to Poland what Rupert Murdoch is to the rest of the world: an intrusive, meddling right-wing business player. Because he is a Bible thumper he can also be compared to guys like Fallwell in the States. In other words, Bible thumpers on the surface who get busted for pantysniffing and prostitution. Who knows what goes on in his well-guarded palaces and dungeons. He hates the media (unless it is a newspaper he himself controls), and many politicians are either conrolled by him or are afraid of him because of his power. Words that come to mind: tyrant, megalomaniac, creepo.

where NORMAL people can live safe and productive lives.

Randompal is against squares and nerds telling him or anyone else what normal is and what isn't normal.

Randompal isn't interested in stealing or borrowing Gary's style, Randompal has his own.

USA, Canada / 7 day holiday to america, does my Polish girlfriend require a visa? [19]

sometimes it's hard for Polish to get visa to the US...

that's why many of my friends here don't want to bother, I always hear "screw that we're not standing in some goddamn line in front of the US embassy like a bunch of fools just to be told to go away by Uncle Scam" (and they keep your money anyway even if they dont give you a visa - what a ripoff!!)

USA, Canada / No US Visa Waiver for Poles - 8/9/07 [96]

So? Many Poles don't like the US anyway. They say that since it joined the Union they get better pay in European countries.

That's not the point, the visa waiver program is for tourist visas not work visas. Now there's another good lesson in gratitude for the good people of Poland:) Let's congratulate all the Poles who overstayed their visas and ruined it for the rest, who just wanted a visa to visit Ciocia Zosia. What with the sinking dollar, the percentage of Poles who overstay their tourist visas will drop faster than a dress on prom night since it won't make financial sense to work in the USA, but it WILL make sense to breeze over to Amercia for a quick shopping trip. Then those jackals in Congress will give Poles visa waivers fo' sho'

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

yes, aaranged marriages are actually the rule, not the exception, especially in the country. what's more, in Poland if you are a forreigner and a man wants to marry you he has the right to take away your passport (new statute) and keep you against your will. be warned.

Love / Illegal Polish girl wants me to marry her for citizenship [124]

Ha ha now that the US dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar this gold-diggin ho from Poland will probably split for Toronto on the next northbound train.

I think your ass just leaked into this topic. Another American hater. LOL funny. I haven't heard anyone say this well, ever

Well, I have heard people say just that, and not all of them are what you would call America haters. And these are people who have spent years living in the US, and they just simply had enough after 5 or 10, or in some cases even 20 years. Some people just don't want to become Americans and that's something you can't blame anyone for, and everyone can have an opinion as is their right. Time to admit though, America's just like any other place: it takes money to make money, other than that its all a crap shoot...

Is Wyborowa popular in England or Ireland? Is it popular in bars and shops there? If so do only migrant Poles drink it or is it catching on with the locals? How about Tyskie beer? Any input welcome, need this info for a project i'm workin on. Have one for me in the meantime..

UK, Ireland / Why do Poles come to England? [514]

The polish just come because they don't like their countrym they believe that any country is better than their's, and because in England they think they can make alot of mkoney

I like my country and that's why I choose to stay here. I don't think any country is better than Poland, and certainly not England, which is full of fat arrogant bores, bad food, and weather even worse than Poland's. Plus in England they have those ridiculous seperate hot/cold water taps in bathrooms - you would think that the greedy clods who once ran an international empire would think of a smarter way to wash.

UK, Ireland / Foreigners: Please don't buy the English Land! [83]

stop being sarcastic towards the country in front of which you should feel guilty.

I could care less if they feel guilty, just like I could care less about buying overpriced Brittish land and whether I am allowed to or not. In fact, I don't even feel like visiting England, a place I remember to have had weather no better than Poland's, food worse than in Poland, and Brittish girls were ugly, fat, and they all speak funny.

News / LPR - League of the Polish Repressed (and retarded) [49]

Someone did tell me - the LPR. And because I do my homework I know that the addictive qualities of cannabis are totally overblown. Clinically pot is no more addictive than chocolate, and I know people who are addicted to sex and to TV, but they are not illegal, at least not yet...
