7 day holiday to america, does my Polish girlfriend require a visa?

Hi there

Planning a trip with the girlfriend to New York in March time...we both live in the UK, I'm of Polish descent but born in the UK and so have a UK passport. My girlfriend however came over to the UK two years ago and holds a Polish passport.

How easy will it be for us to get her a visa for a seven day stay in new york? We are really eager to book the flights, but don't want to book them if she won't be able to get a visa.

Also, will she need to apply for the visa in Poland or in the UK?

Dzieki

in Poland you will need to visit american consolate in Warsaw, but will have to arange an appointment ahead of time, if you are uk citizens, more than likely not, but to be sure contact the american consulate in UK, i do not know where it is, but I am sure you can get that info on line. do not book your tickets ahead of time, and you will need a passport to enter US.

sometimes it's hard for Polish to get visa to the US...

that's why many of my friends here don't want to bother, I always hear "screw that we're not standing in some goddamn line in front of the US embassy like a bunch of fools just to be told to go away by Uncle Scam" (and they keep your money anyway even if they dont give you a visa - what a ripoff!!)

She'd probably have to go to Warsaw to apply. It helps if you have someone write some sort of invitation stressing responsibility e.g. Insurance coverage, food, place to stay and $ for a flight back if necessary. It also helps a lot if she's a student or has equal "strong ties" to Poland....and most of ther time, there's not much of a wait.

Good luck!

well, if she's qualified that's about how much it'll cost.

But, if it's "grease" you're talking about then yeah :)

considering that Poland is now part of the EU, does anybody think that once the bush admnistration will be replaced, they will change this absurd policy?
