OP Sc0tt 4 | 25 6 Nov 2009 / #5Merged: Holiday Visa for USMy Polish partner & i wish to go to Florida next year for a 2 week break .At this moment we are unsure exactly when ,does anyone know when applying for a Visa ,does the US embassy require exact dates of travel or would it be possible to get say a 6mth visa so we can be flexible ?The only thing that concerns me is ,if the dates are to be exact ,we really have to book to guarantee but then we may not be guaranteed a visa .Many thanks in advance for help .Scott
hello 22 | 890 6 Nov 2009 / #6From what I heard you can get visa for 10 years (but also less). 6 months should be minimum, but usually they give 10 years.
ChrisPoland 2 | 123 6 Nov 2009 / #7When my husband got his first US tourist visa, he told them that he wanted to visit the US in the summer and probably again in the following summer. He received a 10-year tourist visa which is good for stays in the US up to 6 months long. He also spoke English at his appointment. Another lady who was in the same group as my husband requested a 3-month visa for a summer English course in America. They gave her a 3-month visa, starting from the next day. It was in March :(Be clear about your intentions and everything should be ok.Good luck!
OP Sc0tt 4 | 25 6 Nov 2009 / #8Excellent ,thanks for the replies .I had heard through a friend of a friend that someone was granted a 10 year visa also but wasn't sure they had the facts right ,so seems quite common .I think we will try this approach .Fingers crossed !!UpdateAfter applying & attending an interview at the US embassy my partner is now the holder of a 10 year visa :)
